This build was fueled by 1, needing a computer to use for everyday things, 2, wanting to play some light games like Minecraft and Portal, and 3, trying to remain within a decent budget. If I was to do it all over again, I would probably have gotten a better CPU. When I bought my CPU it cost me about $100 due to the silicon shortages of the past couple year; now it's only worth around $50.$574.97 -

With this build, I went with a plant and Ghibli theming. I did a case mod of putting a smaller monitor in the front of the case in order to use wallpaper engine to add to the aesthetic of the build. This build was challenging not only because of the monitor mod but also because I top-mounted the AIO which required another mod to be able to attach it.$2,513.90 -

I started conceptualizing my build about a year before I actually started buying the components. I worked on a budget, did hours of research, talked to experts and finally realized my plans during Covid when I turned 13 years old. Because stores were closed for Covid, I had to buy the parts over the internet - and even almost got scammed on my graphics card. Something was fishy to me so I cancelled the order and thankfully didn't lose anything. The ultimate dream was to have an RTX 3080, but it was way above my budget because it was the time when everyone was buying graphics cards to mine for crypto. I settled on a 2060 and honestly wasn't disappointed. It's been 2 years since my build and I have done a few upgrades - including picking up some PSU RGB extension cables from MicroCenter and a recent upgrade to a RTX4070TI which I am excited about. My next upgrade will probably be to convert to a water cooling system. I really like the RGB look of my computer and will always look to add more somehow. I built this computer for both gaming and school work. I play Minecraft, CSGO, GTA V, APEX Legends, Wolfenstein and a few other games.$1,059.93 -

This build was done as a final refresh of a workstation that is based on socket AM4 and using dd4 ram. At the time of writing, the prices of ddr4 ram, ssd storage, and even graphics cards have all dropped significantly. So it was time to hit up Micocenter and make this happen. This build is about a true split between 50% photo editing (work) and 50% running games at 3440x1440 (ultrawide monitor) resolution.$1,769.91 -

This project is essentially a rebuild of a gaming pc I had previously assembled. This previous build had problems, though. Specifically, I had temps on my 5800x that were quite frankly unacceptable, often spiking over 90 degrees C while under heavy load from a video editing application. The Arctic Liquid Freezer II is one of the best reviewed cpu coolers and has made a significant positive impact on the cooling for this build. One thing I learned through this process is that there is more than one revision of the Ryzen 7 5800x cpu. Many online review sites demonstrate newer revisions of the 5800x run a cooler temperatures and at a lower power draw. So looking back on my purchases, I wish I had specifically bought only the newer revision of the 5800x.$2,044.92 -

I jumped on the $350 7700X Black Friday bundle at Microcenter to start my Winter 2022 build. I wanted to do a white build with black accents for this gaming rig and hence call this my 'Panda' build. I wanted to create my first hard line tubing build, and wanted to try to make rgb look good. So I went with a minimalist color palette to let the rgb shine, among the black, nickel, and clear components. I also wanted to try a vertical gpu mount, which lead me down the path of creating 3d printed parts as the stuck mount was unappealing to me. I also have included my fiber 10gbit nic behind the gpu, another factor that influenced my vertical bracket design. Lian Li provides the 3d model for my case freely, which made the prototyping phase much faster. In hindsight I wish I had incorporated a modification to the top cover plate to allow greater airflow, the system can get quite toasty with a few games like Cyberpunk. I work from home and game on the same pc, so I don't have any channel or such to promote. Since I am limited to a few photos here without context, I would like to share the forum link where I have my full build log you can check out for additional photos https://hardforum.com/threads/project-black-glass.2015333/$5,737.21 -
