Would I be able to get this adjusted and the difference refunded without having to go into the store? 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Comments TSTDavey admin March 2021 Hello @Cleverness and thanks for posting on the Microcenter Community Forum. We looked up your order, purchase date 03/06/2021. It shows a debt card was used for the transaction. If a credit card was used, then we could make the adjustment with out having to re-swipe the credit card. But debt cards are different as they are linked directly to banking accounts. In order to do the adjustment, we'll need to re-swipe your debt card to credit the adjustment back to your account. I'm sorry, I'm sure this is not what you wanted to hear, but unfortunately that's how our Point of Sale system works when it comes to refunds. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Categories 7.9K All Categories 1.2K The Blog 59 What's Trending 15 Past News and Updates 185 How to & Technical Guides 13 Computer Hardware 119 Software 3 Home Office 6 Networking 2 Audio/Visual 2 Home Automation 20 3D Printers 20 Maker 32 PC Build Guides 120 Reviews & Buying Guides 55 Build Showcase 27 Contests 48 Past Contests 1.6K The Community 1.9K General Discussion 106 New Members 245 Consumer Tech 67 Prebuilt PCs and Laptops 100 Software 8 Audio/Visual 27 Networking & Security 1 Home Automation 3 Digital Photography 3 Content Creators 22 Hobby Boards & Projects 33 3D Printing 68 Retro Arcade/Gaming 92 All Other Tech 1.6K Store Information and Policy 77 Off Topic 16 Community Ideas & Feedback 120 Your Completed Builds 2.9K Build-Your-Own PC 1.9K Help Choosing Parts 251 Graphics Cards 200 CPUs, Memory, and Motherboards 73 Cases and Power Supplies 23 Air and Liquid Cooling 26 Monitors and Displays 33 Peripherals 19 All Other Parts 28 Featured Categories We love seeing what our customers build Submit photos and a description of your PC to our build showcase Submit Now Looking for a little inspiration? For most general PC users, we’d recommend you use an SSD for your boot and game drives, while only using hard drives for mass, longer-term storage of family photos and videos, and work document backups. That doesn’t mean you should be haphazard with how you choose your hard drive, though, as there are very real differences between different models and very real reasons why you might pick one over another. What is a hard drive? Although different hard drive models have different specifications, and in some cases, features, they do all share an underlying technological base. All hard disk drives (HDDs) use spinning magnetic platters to store data, paired with a magnetic head attached to an actuator arm that read and writes the data to the platter as it rotates. Some drives have more than one platter, some have different size platters, and some even fill the drives with different gases to affect performance, storage size, and durability, but at their heart, all hard drives are built on the same spinning platter technology. Internal vs external hard drives Internal hard drives are the most common mass storage drives available today, and are sold in either 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch form factors. The larger size drives are available in the greater capacities, since they have greater space for more and larger platters, while the smaller drives tend to come in smaller capacities and are typically designed with laptops or small form-factor systems in mind. Internal drives are connected to the PC using an L-shaped SATA cable, and are powered by a secondary L-shaped SATA 15-pin power connector. Both are necessary for the drive to function and be detected by the host system. External hard drives are based on a mixture of bespoke hard drive enclosures with a hardwired drive inside, operating like a larger USB thumb drive, and external hard drive enclosures, which you can manually install internal hard drives in. The former tend to be leaner, and designed more for travel, making use of USB to power the drive while in use, whereas the latter are more like smaller networked attached storage (NAS) drive alternatives, and will typically require external power. The term, “External hard drives,” can also colloquially be used as an umbrella term for any sort of external storage device that isn’t a USB flash drive. That can include both external hard drives and external SSDs, the latter of which are faster, but more expensive, than their mechanical hard drive counterparts. Differences between internal hard drives The big difference between most hard drives is capacity. As hard drives are best suited for larger storage solutions, the amount they can actually store is usually their biggest selling point. Drives are available in capacities from 500GB, all the way up to 20TB at the top end, providing even those with the most enormous of game or media libraries all the space they need. There are specific drives aimed at servers that can deliver speeds close to that of SATA hard drives, but those aren’t really geared towards general consumers, and in many cases use the SAS, rather than SATA interface, making them difficult to incorporate into standard desktop PCs. For the most hard-drive uses, there isn’t much difference in the way of hard drive performance, between even the best and the more humble models. However, there is some major differences in how those hard drives approach storage. Notably durability, and features. Seagate offers a wide range of different hard drives, with some designed with specific use cases in mind. The Seagate BarraCuda drives offer affordable performance for everyday use, and come in a wide range of capacities up to 8TB in 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch sizes. Seagate SkyHawk hard drives are designed for video surveillance systems, with clever AI technologies designed to minimize dropped frames and downtime in video recording or live viewing. They aren’t as fast as other hard drives, but they’re incredibly reliable and consume very little power. IronWolf and IronWolf Pro drives are designed for NAS enclosures and arrays and offer industry-leading reliability and longevity. Standard IronWolf drives are available in capacities up to 12TB, while the Pro variants offer 14TB, 16TB, 18TB, and 20TB models for even larger storage arrays. They’re also designed to work 24/7, with anti-vibration dampening which makes them less susceptible to damage from working in close proximity to a larger number of similar drives. These drives also come with free Seagate data recovery services, so if your data was lost in some surprise event in that drive’s first few years of life, Seagate would help you recover that data for free. This can be extended into the future with a subscription service. Another popular hard drive manufacturer with an array of different HDD options, is Western Digital, or WD. Its range includes popular options like the affordable and popular WD Blue range of hard drives, which, like Seagate’s BarraCuda drives, are aimed squarely at the consumer market. It also offers WD Black drives which are aimed more at gamers for use as larger game drives – it even offers some bespoke external hard drives aimed at console gamers. WD Red drives are Western Digital’s NAS range of drives, and offer greater reliability and come with noise and vibration protection, while WD Purple hard drives are marketed towards surveillance systems and are designed to improve video playback within a range of security solutions. Hybrid hard drives Although less common now than they were, there is also another class of hard drive known as a hybrid drive. These drives come complete with a few gigabytes of solid state storage bolted on to use as a cache. In the same way as high-speed SSDs use faster memory chips as a cache for improved performance, so do hybrid drives use SSDs. This results in drives that are faster than hard drives, while still being cheaper per gigabyte than SSDs. In my experience you’re still better off having a separate SSD for your boot drive and game library, and a secondary hard drive to store photos, work documents, and family videos. But if your system won’t fit multiple drives, or you want the simplicity of a single drive with better performance than a traditional hard drive, hybrid drives are a viable alternative. There is a semi long history to this but I will try to keep as short as possible... Basics: DIMM A1 will no longer post with xmp enabled.  Was working fine until Xmas eve when I purchased, installed and attempted to update a MSI CoreLiquid k360.  The firmware update bricked the lcd and in the process of troubleshooting (bios update, windows update, software update, windows refresh, and registry check) the computer began encountering memory related bsod crashes.   Rolled back bios to previous version that was working prior to aio problems, even cleared cmos and started over, the system would fail to post with xmp enabled. 1 instance where the boot stuck on the cpu check and had to restart. This was after removing current 4 sticks of ram and replacing with 2 known working sticks (g.skill) of similar specs in slots A1 and B1... the manual says to put into A2 and B2 but needed to check all 4 slots. Using known good ram:  Dropped to 1 stick and ran tests on each slot for post and boot with only slot A1 failing the xmp post. Did this with both g.skill sticks. Same result with both sticks.  Moved back to Corsair Dominator Platinum (was running 4x16): Repeated tests with each stick with same result. Multiple configurations attempted including 3 stick configurations and all passed until A1 was utilized with xmp enabled. cmos was cleared after every test, and main power removed before swapping sticks. Am I on the right track?? Would I be correct in assuming that this is a mobo problem? Now for my biggest issue, this board was purchased on 10/31/21 so outside of any normal return window, and the additional protection either was not offered or was declined (I don't remember) however it appears to possibly be some sort of manufacturer defect?  I'm convinced that the mobo will need to be rma'd if covered, but I don't even know if it is... and is it something that mocrocenter can help with? Or am I SOL?  Please help. I have tried multiple times to connect to online chat (which is apparently offline...) and have tried email as well.  MSI MAG X570 Tomahawk WiFi AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 64GB Corsair Dominator Platinum 3200 (4x16) EVGA BQ750 Powercolor RX 6700 XT Red Devil 2TB WD Black SN750 (2x1TB) 10TB WD Black Gaming 7200rpm 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Comments TSKevinG admin January 2 Good afternoon @ElJorge_81005 Thank you for contacting micro center. Frankly, I only posted here because the WD support on the WD website told me to (after escalating it). I thought it was odd to post something that appears to be an app issue to forums but it was worth a try. My phone just updated last night to Android 11 (not sure what the actual update itself was but that is the version on the About menu item). I just tested it again and the same result, unfortunately. The other phone is newer than mine but I have not had a chance to check the version and both tablets are older, so are likely maybe Android 8 or so. Oddly, these devices all have basically the same issues. Anything else to try would be appreciated but I'll try to use that email address as soon as I have some time. Thanks again. ElectronicsGeek ✭ September 2021 in Networking & Security Currently, if you want to access the NVR using a computer, you have to use Internet Explorer and download a plugin for it to show video. This plugin does not work for Microsoft Edge. Now that Microsoft is discontinuing Internet Explorer, will there be a plugin made available so we can access the NVR using Microsoft Edge? 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Best Answer Ian admin September 2021 Answer ✓ Greetings. We are not currently aware of a plug in for use with Edge. The officially supported way of accessing the system is through their mobile apps, it is possible Western Digital will release a plugin for the ReadyView systems for other browsers at a later time and any information on that would be available on our website or Western Digital's website. You can continue to use Internet Explorer as the browser will still function past its end of life date, it will just not receive any updates from Microsoft. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Answers ElectronicsGeek ✭ September 2021 My issue with the WD ReadyView app is that when playing back recorded video the timeline frequently skips during playback and I miss a few seconds of video (it'll skip anywhere from 3 seconds to 10 seconds at a time). I'm using the app on a fully updated iPhone 11 connected to my home wifi to access the WD ReadyView NVR which is plugged into the same gigabyte router that my iPhone is wirelessly connected to. When I use my computer to access the NVR the playback video is fluid and doesn't skip which is why I prefer to use Internet Explorer to playback video. Unless you can help me resolve this issue with the app, I have to rely on a browser to playback video. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Ian admin September 2021 You can check to make sure your DVR has the latest firmware to see if that would help - https://community.microcenter.com/kb/articles/41-readyview-how-to-update-nvr-and-camera-firmware 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook ElectronicsGeek ✭ September 2021 The firmware on my NVR is the current version.  This isn’t a problem with my hardware, it’s an issue with WD needing to update their app (which hasn’t been updated in over a year) and creating a browser plug-in for a currently supported browser. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook TS_JosephF admin September 2021 https://community.microcenter.com/discussion/comment/35833#Comment_35833 Even if you rewind the footage on the app, does it still not show the 3-10 seconds of playback that it skipped? Does it do the same on other mobile phones when connected to the same internal network and a different one? 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook ElectronicsGeek ✭ September 2021 Yes, it skips while rewinding and watching on playback while using the app on multiple devices.  However, it doesn’t do it when using a monitor hooked up to the NVR or a computer using Internet Explorer. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Pevo ✭ November 2021 I was able to get past the plugin issue by using Internet Explorer within Edge by changing the settings for default browser. Not sure how long this will last since support for Internet Explorer is ending soon .... Western Digital really booted this one, dropping it like they did, but they had a poorly implemented software from the start. Their own User Manual is wrong, they obviously used a European system and didn't carry all of the features of the original product. I can't delete three (phantom) cameras so I can add three new ones. Really frustrating ... 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook ElectronicsGeek ✭ November 2021 I found that the video skips like ElectronicsGeek said when watching videos in HD. When I switch to Standard or ECO the video doesn't skip. My guess is that your computer doesn't have a HD 4K screen and therefore the video defaults to a lower resolution. I also see the video skipping while watching it on a 4K monitor in HD connected directly into the NVR. When I switch to a lower resolution it doesn't skip. The cameras record the video in three different resolutions to accommodate watching it from different devices with different resolutions. It's either a hardware issue and the processor in the camera can't handle all the information or it's a software compression problem. I experience it on all the cameras but it's not all at the same time so it's not a NVR recording problem or signal disruption problem. There was no Aura Sync program preinstalled to control the lights and when I downloaded the program it doesn't work with the Asus Prime Z390-P motherboard so perhaps the lights around the fans are not RGB but just LED? We are able to look into this with you and get your issues looked into. What exactly is the app doing? Can you upload screenshots of the problems you are having to this post so we can get a better idea of what you are seeing? 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook NIKKO49 ✭ November 2021 Ian, no screenshot is necessary. This is simply a case of the app not compatible with the Apple iPad. I contacted Micro Center and they said it’s not their problem it’s your problem or the people that put out the app for WD. Possibly a third-party. Either way I can access my cameras due to the app that was installed not working with my iPad. all I need to know is that you’re working on getting an updated version to resolve the issue with the iPad. this is not an isolated issue there are other customers if you look through the comments that are left. The problem started when the app came out three weeks ago and was installed in the iPads. Now when I scan in the app it does not open and then it goes to a white screen. Nothing else happens. NIKKO49 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook LandShark admin November 2021 @NIKKO49 Screenshots would be most helpful for us to better understand and share the issue that you are having with your device. We here on the community are not directly responsible for the WD ReadyView app, however, we can work to resolve the issue with you, or pass along your feedback and issues to the proper teams. I understand that you're seeing a white screen when you try to open the app, but could you share a screenshot of this error with us? Thanks! 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook NIKKO49 ✭ November 2021 Do you really want a screenshot of a white screen? I don’t see how that is helpful. NIKKO49 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook NIKKO49 ✭ November 2021 I spoke to one of your text and it seems the update was installed and then APPLE updated their iPads and the two are not compatible. When a new WD app is put out they think it should resolve the issue but nobody knows when that will be. NIKKO49 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook LandShark admin November 2021 @NIKKO49 If you do not wish to share screenshots of the mentioned issue, one step that I would recommend that you may not have completed is to force the ReadyView app to close completely before restarting. To quit the ReadyView application, follow the steps in the following article. Force an app to close in iOS - Apple Support After the app has been closed, restart your iPad again as outlined in the next article. Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support Once your iPad boots back on, open the ReadyView app as you normally would and test it to make sure it is working as expected. Let us know if this works or if you have already tried this. Thanks! 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook NIKKO49 ✭ November 2021 I tried this and it did not work any differently. I think this app is not compatible with the Apple most current update. I’ll try to attach a photo. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook NIKKO49 ✭ December 2021 Now that you know what the problem is and you have a screenshot, have you or anyone else from WD contacted the app developer for your WD ReadyView app to inform them of the problem and find out what their fix will be and when??? NIKKO49 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook LandShark admin December 2021 @NIKKO49 Could you please let us know which version of the app you have installed and which version of iOS you're currently running on your iPad? I have reached out and escalated this, but any additional errors or info about this that you can share is always helpful. https://community.microcenter.com/discussion/comment/38225#Comment_38225 The screenshot you've provided shows a loading screen. Is this the last visible screen before the app goes to a white screen? Or does the app freeze like shown above? Thanks 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook NIKKO49 ✭ December 2021 The WD App that was Auto installed is version 1.2.1 The iPad is running version 15.1 The screen is NOT frozen. It is just a screen shot of what I see after scanning the bar code to install. The beach ball is spinning. The next time I try to open the app all I get is a white screen. NIKKO49 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook jefflane ✭ December 2021 Just to chime in, I have the exact same issue as NIKKO49. Was running the app on two iPads and two iPhones. About 2 weeks ago, both iPads when connecting get stuck at the same screen NIKKO49 posted. Both iPads are running 15.1 and the ReadyView app is 1.2.1 Strange thing is that the app still works on our iPhones, one running 15.1 and the other 14.8.1 I believe. Same version of app as well 1.2.1 I hope someone fixes this.... maybe WD could roll back the last update until they figure it out? 1 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook LandShark admin December 2021 Thanks for the additional info @jefflane! Interesting that it is only disabling your iPad and not iPhone. What version of the app are you using on your iPhones and what version of iOS? 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook NIKKO49 ✭ December 2021 Actually, my iPhone is not functioning 100% either. The iPhone is also running 1.2.1 and now I cannot control the motion function for my cameras. This also started 2 to 3 weeks ago when the update came through. I think all the other functions are working on the iPhone. The iPad is the bigger issue at the moment because it has nothing. This is clearly a problem with the app. How are you having any success with your app provider to correct the problem. It seems that this is the big issue at the moment. And update to correct all these problems is probably what needs to be done by the provider of the app. NIKKO49 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook LandShark admin December 2021 Good to know! I'll pass this info along as well. I'm not sure when exactly the update was published, but it appears to be distributed in late October by what I can find. Hopefully, they will publish or roll back this update soon, I've seen that others appear to be having similar issues elsewhere as well. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook NIKKO49 ✭ December 2021 It appears they have installed another update, this one is 1.2.2. unfortunately I don’t see any change in the app. It still does not work on my iPad or my iPhone. you may want to pass that along to the tech in charge of developing the app. NIKKO49 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook jefflane ✭ December 2021 I have tried the new update 1.2.2 as well on my iPad. Still the same issue it just spins and never connects. After that I tried updating iPad again (to 15.2) ... same issue. Then as a final attempt, I placed the iPad onto my cellular hotspot to verify it wasn't a firewall issue... same problem. Whew this is a tough one! I'll keep my eyes on this forum for any updated from WD - thanks Jeff 1 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Guido22 ✭ January 14 Same problem here! Uninstalled and reinstalled numerous time with no success. iOs 15.2.1 Update 1.2.2. Why no help? 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook NIKKO49 ✭ January 14 I think we’re pretty much screwed! It appears they’re not even working on a fix for this problem. What good is a home security system if you can’t access it remotely. WD readyview did not develop the app but they have their name on it and are responsible for its functionality. They seem to not agree with that. They have passed on the problem to someone else. Everything worked fine for almost a year and then they sent the updates to our devices and screwed it all up. If this thing is not fixed soon I’ll be heading to the Better Business Bureau to find out alternatives. good luck everybody. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Pevo ✭ March 9 Just to add one more user to the list, I'm having the same problem. Started back in November when the new app was installed. I have restarted the app more times than I can count. I have also uninstalled the app multiple times with no change. I reset the NVR and still no connection. I even tried to go back to the default password, the system won't let you change to the default, so I tried to re-setup the system and it didn't work. As a last ditch effort, I did a complete reset of the iPad and no change. The app and iPad are running the latest firmware. Obviously there is a problem with the app, whoever is responsible needs to do an update. The manager at the Brooklyn Microcenter assured me that I would have no issues.  What are your thoughts on this matter? 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Comments TS_EmileC admin April 2021 Hello @Drins! The 6900XT can work fine with even a 750W psu. The 850W gives an extra 100W overhead for any additional components or load put on the system. What were you planning to run on your system? 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Drins ✭ April 2021 edited April 2021 Hello,  Emile!  Well, the reference 6900XT comes with a 750W PSU recommendation but the Powercolor Ultimate Red Devil version I have as of now comes with a 900W recommendation.  As for what I was planning on running, I was first going to run some benchmarks and then move onto some of my more graphics-intensive games.   0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook TSTDavey admin April 2021 @Drins just chiming in. Currently, the computer is still at the Brooklyn Microcenter, due to my concerns about the PSU. The issue started yesterday when i decided to add in an Inland Premium NVME to it.  Prior to the new addition I was having no issues, everything booted up on the first try and i was very impressed with how great it was running.  Initially after adding the new drive everything was working perfectly as well. I was able to migrate the OS and everything seemed to of been a smooth transition since it booted up from the new Drive and was working perfectly, until I went to turn it off at that point it kept rebooting. After a few attempts it finally it turned off.  I turned it back on to see if everything was ok with it now but it gave me the blue screen "oops...." I went to the bios made sure everything looked fine and it did. I attempted to load up the computer after saving within bios and then it turned off. I attempted to turn the computer back on from here and now I'm just getting the Red VGA light on the mother board and the graphics card fans turn off shortly after stating the computer.  I'm not terribly sure what all I can do from here, can someone please help? 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Comments TSPhillipT admin May 2020 Hello @supermariopunch!  Welcome to the Micro Center Community! So now we are unable to get into the Bios?  Could you try clearing the caps for the system?  You can do this by unplugging the power to the system or toggling the Power Supply Off and then holding down the power button for about 20 seconds.  Then plug it back in and start up the system.  If this does not work, I would then recommend clearing the CMOS by removing the CMOS Battery (Looks like a watch battery) on the motherboard for about 20 seconds and then putting it back in and then starting up the system.   1 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook supermariopunch ✭ May 2020 This worked great! looks like my files were corrupted but luckily since its a new PC i didn't have anything of terrible importance. A quick reinstall of windows worked its magic real quick Thank you soooooo much! 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook supermariopunch ✭ May 2020 Also to explain yes i was unable to get even into the bios and I had to take out the CMOS battery.  0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook supermariopunch ✭ May 2020 I went ahead and turned off the PC to make sure everything is working smoothly. after turning it on now i get the boot red light rather than the original VGA.  0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook supermariopunch ✭ May 2020 TSPhillipT 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook TSMikeW admin May 2020 With the boot debug LED lit you should be able to POST and get into the BIOS. It's telling you it can enumerate your drives or there's nothing to boot to. Given you've already had OS corruption my thoughts are we're either having an issue with the drive or the system is very unstable. However, if that was the case, I doubt you would of gotten through an OS install without a crash. Do you still have an OS on the WD SSD to test with? I'd recommend reseating the GPU. Make sure that the ribbon cable is properly seated in the motherboard and then properly connected with the 3080.  If you're still experiencing troubles, I'd recommend testing the GPU in the motherboard without the verticle mount.  Keep us posted! 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook ChickyBob221 ✭ November 2020 edited November 2020 LandShark said: If the VGA light on your motherboard is lighting up it means that the motherboard has identified a fault with the GPU.
