Here is my latest log: *********************** Log Started 2020-04-20T01:57:45Z *********************** 01:57:45:****************************** FAHClient ****************************** admin April 20 @JADO have you attempted to manually add them by going to Configure > Slots > Add? You should be able to leave the GPU value at -1. From there, add a slot for each potential GPU connected to the system, then save. They should reappear. If that doesn't work, you may be missing the GPUs.txt file in your [email protected] Client AppData directory. If that file is missing, visit this page, select all, save it into a notepad text file named GPUs.txt and place it in the %AppData%\FAHClient directory (Windows + R to open Run prompt, type that directory in for quick access). GPUs.txt page: https://apps.foldingathome.org/GPUs.txt Hopefully this works, if not, let me know. I'll try to troubleshoot more with you. 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter JADO ✭ April 20 edited April 20 Thanks for the help.  I am pretty knowledgeable on this stuff and at this point I am guessing it a Windows issue....but, I have no way to know.  I have tried to add them manually but since FAH sees no GPU's the add disappears as soon as I exit and go back to the settings sheet.  I have also looked at the GPUs.txt file and it is where it is supposed to be  and again everything worked correctly for over 2 weeks.  The cards have two bios's on them. You can select them with a switch.  one was modified for crypto mining the other is stock..  I was using the stock bios and everything worked fine.  I switched to crypto bios (to see if I could improve speed) and everything still worked but it was not stable.  So, I switched back to standard bios which had been working and after the switch back Folding stopped finding the cards.  Again, they show up in device manager and it reports they are working normally.  When it stopped was when I started uninstalling and installing card drivers and FAH in different combinations but have not been able to get them to reconnect.. 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter JADO ✭ April 20 Thanks for helping.  I installed 7.6.9 today and I was able to manually add the GPU's.  Problem seems to be solved for now.  Thanks again. 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter TSMichaelB admin April 20 Interesting that it only started after swapping to and from the VBIOS using the physical toggle switch. When you nuked the GPU drivers, did you use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller)? Just wanting to make sure every registry entry tied to those drivers were removed prior to reinstallation. Can you provide the name of the exact model of RX 580 you're using? I'll see if I have any lying around that I can try to replicate the issue with.  0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter JADO ✭ April 20 edited April 20 Actually, I don't think the VBIOS had anything to do with it.  I think it related to the latest FAH updates.. but again I am not sure.  I did use DDU (full discosure..I did not run it in Safe Mode) then I used Regedit and deleted all remnants of FAH I could find.  Still don't know why it would not find the cards after that  but after installing 7.6.9 today I was able to find and add them manually.  With 6 RX580s and a i5 9600K 6 core processor should I have any problems running all 6 cards?  Can I also safely use some of 6 cpu cores in addition to the GPU's?  Adding cards manually, FAH also added my Intel 630 motherboard graphics  GPU for processing.  I removed it because I figured that would just cause problems.  I guess what I am asking is with the hardware I have what do thin the optimal folding configuration for folding should be here?  Thanks  0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter TSMichaelB admin April 20 Glad to hear the GPU's are recognized now. As for the hardware configuration, [email protected] recommends leaving one processing core per GPU. Since your 9600k has exactly 6 cores, I wouldn't recommend folding on the CPU at all as it will be of very little gain and may be detrimental to your GPU's scores, which are weighted far more heavily in terms of value. I don't see any issue running the Intel iGPU as it simply uses 2MB of cache and some spare system memory, so it shouldn't impact your stability at all. It might not score all that well, but it shouldn't hurt anything either.  0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter JADO ✭ April 20 My thoughts exactly.  Thank you for confirming.  Appreciate the help. 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter TSMichaelB admin April 20 My pleasure. As far as we are aware the manager will arrive sometime between 6 and 7am. They will hand out vouchers to the line so that you don't have to stay until they open like the other releases. I believe most stores have it be until 3pm when you can redeem but I haven't been here for a release before and I don't know more than the fact that they will most likely hand out vouchers. This store did change their hours starting last Sunday, so they are open from 9am instead of the 10am that they used to open. From what I am aware of the 5600x and 5800x there is no rush. The only CPU that will be very limited will be the 5900x, which is to be expected. So I would say see if you can swing by around 6:30am to get a spot for the voucher. Sadly I don't know more or I would tell you. 1 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Patjohn82 ✭ November 5 @Cellie how’s the line at Yonkers? Can’t get there until about 8. Hoping for a 5800x, but I've got a commitment right when they open. I could swing by earlier for a voucher if I'm able to come back a bit later. Thanks! I think I'll plan to show up around 6am. If the line hasn't filled up like crazy I may have to try for a 5900x instead... 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter otaku_sneakerhead ✭ November 5 The situation at Tustin MC as of 8:30PM 11/4: ~20 people are lined up outside the store in queue for the 5000 series launch however a list has already been established with well over 100 people who have already "secured there position in line" for whatever processor they want. They are no longer needed to be present until check-in times at 4am and 7am on launch day. The problem with this is MC sale of the CPUs are based off of a first come first serve basis. Despite that people were able to come and go as the please without having to physically wait in line, which is typically part of the FCFS process for items with limited availability. This is pretty unfair to the people who are willing to wait in line for however long in order to purchase the product. This system would have been better suited for a raffle giving people the equal opportunity of securing a CPU while saving many time and effort. I understand that this maybe a smarter move in light of COVID-19 however, I feel that MC should be doing more to organize these actual releases rather than leaving it up to the consumers waiting outside. I believe the system was inspired by the one started during the 30 series GPU releases as shown in BitWit's video on youtube, however that system was much more rigid with 30 minute check-in times and required potential buyers to be in queue for much longer times than not as FCFS queues should be. Whether or not the 100 or so people who've already signed up would've been willing to wait when they arrived until doors open, doesn't change the fact that the situation is what it is right now, that there is no real queue and that the list could have easily been manipulated preventing people who were more willing to wait to purchase their item from doing so. TLDR: MC Tustin is getting run by a bunch of people who don't know how a first come first serve queue works. As someone whos camped out over the years for items with limited availability such as shoes, clothing, collectables, etc. This is pretty bullshit. 1 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter bbnn ✭ November 5 Xkix said: @bbnn doesn’t look like it but everyone is really chill and friendly here we know the order  nice you guys stay safe AARGH said: CrashAegis said: AARGH said: PrestonYoungsley said: Whats breakdown of chips wanted out of the 22 @ fairfax, I'll probably just roll up in the AM, all i want is a measly 5600x #   Type 08 5950 13 5900 01 5800 01 5600 and 3 for 3080 cards just in case Any clue if the 5950 folks are opting for that card or bust?  Probably take an hour to get there and I'd hate to be just edged out if they opt 5900 instead At least 5 are, we are at 26 people in line as of last check in..   11 - 5950 16 - 5900 02 - 5800 01 - 5600 04 - Also interested in 3080's damn people still buying 3080s 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter CrashAegis ✭ November 5 Sheepykin said: radioToys said: Sheepykin said: 5 people in line at the Rockville location with everyone on a list and want 5900x. If your computer has displayed a blue (or black) screen of death, suddenly rebooted or shut down then this program might help you find the root cause of the problem and a solution.  Whenever a computer suddenly reboots without displaying any notice or blue (or black) screen of death, the first thing that is often thought about is a hardware failure. In reality, on Windows a lot of system crashes are caused by malfunctioning device drivers and kernel modules. In case of a kernel error, many computers do not show a blue or black screen unless they are configured for this. Instead these systems suddenly reboot without any notice.  This program will analyze your crash dumps with the single click of a button. It will tell you what drivers are likely to be responsible for crashing your computer. It will report a conclusion which offers suggestions on how to proceed in any situation while the analysis report will display internet links which will help you further troubleshoot any detected problems.  To obtain technical support visit www.resplendence.com/support Click here to check if you have the latest version or if an update is available.  Just click the Analyze button for a comprehensible report ... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Home Edition Notice -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This version of WhoCrashed is free for use at home only. Click on the links below to search with Google for updates for these drivers:  nvlddmkm.sys (NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 451.67 , NVIDIA Corporation) If no updates for these drivers are available, try searching with Google on the names of these drivers in combination with the errors that have been reported for these drivers. Include the brand and model name of your computer as well in the query. This often yields interesting results from discussions on the web by users who have been experiencing similar problems. Read the topic general suggestions for troubleshooting system crashes for more information.  Note that it's not always possible to state with certainty whether a reported driver is responsible for crashing your system or that the root cause is in another module. Nonetheless it's suggested you look for updates for the products that these drivers belong to and regularly visit Windows update or enable automatic updates for Windows. In case a piece of malfunctioning hardware is causing trouble, a search with Google on the bug check errors together with the model name and brand of your computer may help you investigate this further.  0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Comments TSMikeW admin August 2 Greetings, System is unstable, and it's likely due to the RAM. Community Article Corsair Lighting System Query — Micro Center Corsair Lighting System Query Ionmaster987 ✭ September 6 in Cases and Cooling I'm planning to get a Corsair H100i Platinum CPU Cooler ( 240mm rad, 2 fans ) But, i have some questions about Corsair's lighting system, specifically; Would i be able to hook every RGB cable into a Corsair RGB LED Fan Hub and just have it work? or do i need something else? 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Comments TSMikeW admin September 6 Greetings @Ionmaster987 Specifically on the H100i Platinum RGB it just connects to your board via a USB 2.0 header and you run this via the iCUE software. If you have a lot of Corsair RGB devices they do sell the Corsair Command Pro to manage everything, with the Corsair Node's as expansion options for multiple devices.  0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Ionmaster987 ✭ September 7 edited September 7 TSMikeW said: Greetings @Ionmaster987 Specifically on the H100i Platinum RGB it just connects to your board via a USB 2.0 header and you run this via the iCUE software. If you have a lot of Corsair RGB devices they do sell the Corsair Command Pro to manage everything, with the Corsair Node's as expansion options for multiple devices.  So, i couldn't just.. connect the fans the H100i Platinum comes with to this thing and have it work and be controllable via iCUE? Because, i don't have any corsair devices, my case might be corsair but it's so old it doesn't have any controller or anything, so, do i **need** the Commander Pro to be able to have the fans light up? or, will they light up, but not be controllable lighting-wise? 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Enamelized Va ✭ September 7 @Ionmaster987 with the Corsair H100i coming with that controller you plug it into a Sata connection and then there's a 3 pin you connect to the motherboard and then to that controller. From there your fans plug into the controller and once you boot into windows download the Corsair iCue to then control the RGB colors desired. I'll have to see if I might be able to take some pics of mine that I installed on my other system 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Ionmaster987 ✭ September 7 @Enamelized My friend, you're slightly misundestanding. the fans it comes with, i don't have the capability of hooking the RGB wires into anything, i was asking: do i need something fancier, or can i just get this basic controller, hook the fans into it, and they'll work just fine, be configurable and stuff? 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Enamelized Va ✭ September 7 edited September 7 Not misunderstanding at all, as mentioned that controllers used to plug your fans into and through the Corsair iCue software you can in turn control the RGB of said fans 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Ionmaster987 ✭ September 7 So, i don't need a commander pro at all? 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter TSPhillipT admin September 7 Hello @Ionmaster987 I am the biggest Corsair fan here at Micro Center haha.  Let me see if I can assist you with this! The Corsair RGB Fan Hub (the one pictured) will power the RGB For your Corsair RGB Fans.  It will not allow you to control the RGB however, it just defaults them to the default RGB setting on the Fan (Rainbow Cycle usually).  You can however, connect the RGB Fan Hub to either the Lightning Node PRO or the Commander PRO.  These will connect to the RGB Fan HUB and then connect to a USB 2.0 header on your motherboard.   In short, to make it controllable, you WILL need to connect it to the Lightning Node PRO or Commander PRO.   0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Ionmaster987 ✭ September 7 edited September 7 Darn, would i at-least be able to control their speed through the hub? Or no? If so, i might as-well just get a Commander Pro, since it has enough slots to control the fans the AIO comes with. In the future, might want a lighting node pro to be able to have the RGB be seperate for other fans.. So, now a question: do you think that AIO can fit inside a Carbide Series Spec01?  https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/529832591134556162/752558364168552489/unknown.png This is my case, it looks like it'll fit at the top if the tank is towards the front.. Wait hang on, i just looked, apparently the one i've been talking about is the iCUE H100I RGB PRO XT Liquid Cooler, the Platinum's a bit too expensive, but it appears it doesn't even have rgb fans, so i might not even need a commander.. What's the difference between the iCUE H100I RGB PRO XT Liquid Cooler and the Hydro Series H100i RGB Platinum 240mm Liquid CPU Cooler? 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter TSTonyV admin September 7 The fan speed is controllable by your motherboard/monitoring software, based on your CPU temperature. You do NOT need the Lighting Node Pro or Commander Pro to change the actual fan speeds. The difference between the two coolers is that the H100i RGB PRO XT does not have RGB fans, while the H100i platinum does. Both of them have RGB on the pump.  Based on Cosair's spec sheet for your case it can only support a 120mm radiator, not a 240mm.  0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Ionmaster987 ✭ September 7 TSTonyV said: The fan speed is controllable by your motherboard/monitoring software, based on your CPU temperature. If not, I'm not really sure what to do, i've been wanting an AIO just because it'd be quieter and better looking that i haven't given any thought to what i'd do if i couldn't even put it in. 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter TSTonyV admin September 7 I'm going based on Corsair's spec sheet on their website.  https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categories/Products/Cases/Carbide-Series™-SPEC-01-Red-LED-Mid-Tower-Gaming-Case/p/CC-9011050-WW#tab-tech-specs Even if it looks like there's room, the question is what the clearances are. The problem with the Spec-01 is that if you install a top-mounted radiator and fans they will come down far enough that they'll cover the tops of the RAM slots as well as the 8-pin CPU power on the top-left corner, and any other things like fan headers across the top. If your RAM or anything else plugged in across the top is too tall, you won't be able to properly install the cooler.  0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Ionmaster987 ✭ September 7 So, then i'd need a new case.. Well, thank you for confirming this, i will not be buying an AIO liquid cooler because apparently it won't fit. 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Sign In or Register to comment. Community Article Micro Center Black Friday Announcement — Micro Center Micro Center Black Friday Announcement TSPhillipT admin November 2 edited November 2 in Announcements, News & Launches Hello everyone – thank you for being a part of our Micro Center Community!  I am proud to announce our Black Friday Sale for the year 2020!  One of our biggest concerns when it comes to Black Friday is the large groups and gatherings common for Black Friday shopping.  These can be very dangerous during the current situation regarding COVID-19.   In response to these worries, our Black Friday will begin on 11/02/2020 and go all the way to 11/30/2020.  We are expecting to spread the crowd thinner by increasing the duration of Black Friday.  We are extending our Black Friday sales for nearly a whole month to give our customers more time to shop and save on the best products this holiday season. In addition to our extended Black Friday Sale, we will also be keeping a Black Friday Price Promise!  More details on this to come in the next post.  Black Friday Price Promise My Favorite Picks of the Sale! 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Comments TSPhillipT admin November 2 edited November 2 Black Friday Price Promise Our Black Friday Price Promise ensures you that you have the lowest price on items listed in our Black Friday promotions.  If the purchase price for your item goes lower during our extended Black Friday period, you can contact us via Text or Chat, and we can get that item price matched!  You can text your local Micro Center store to begin the Black Friday Price Promise process via text.  To chat, please visit our Solutions Center and a prompt to begin a chat will be in the bottom right.  You may need to disable your adblocker if you do not see that prompt in the bottom right.   Black Friday Price Promise: Micro Center customers that purchase a qualifying item (products listed in our Black Friday promotions) between 11/02/20 – 11/30/20 and if the price of the qualifying item goes lower than your purchase price before November 30, 2020, we will refund you the difference between your purchase price and the lower price. Refunds must take place before 01/15/2021. Excludes products purchased with coupons, bundles, services and price errors. All refunds will be based upon your original payment method. 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter TSPhillipT admin November 2 edited November 3 Here are some of my favorite picks from our current Black Friday Sale!  I think $299.99 for an i9 9900k is a fantastic price for the power the 9900k has.  Not too familiar with building a PC and only want one to plug in and play, our PowerSpec G228 is an excellent start for a gaming PC with the ability to upgrade with newer parts in the future!  Also, the iPad 8 for $279.99 is perfect for anyone needing a tablet, and you can pair that with the Apple Airpod Pros at $199.99.  I love my Airpod Pros and use them every day; both the Active Noise Cancelling and Transparency modes are amazing for multiple situations.  If you are in need of a good laptop for everyday use, I highly recommend the Acer Aspire 3, with a 10th Gen Processor, it is a great modern laptop at $499.99   Check out all of our Black Friday Sales here! 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter TSPhillipT admin November 2 Which sales look interesting to you?  You can comment on this thread for any questions you have regarding Black Friday!  I would love to see what items you may be getting on Black Friday; post them here, so I know and maybe get it myself!  1 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter BlazerBuddy ✭ November 2 edited November 4 I might grab me an iPad 8 for my dad. Sorry for your loss. I recently lost someone to COVID within my extended family, so while I was making light of the situation, it IS a serious matter. I'm very appreciative of all the folks that have joined the fight by folding, whether that's with MicroCenterOfficial or another team. With as much social distancing and isolation that's going on, this is at least something that feels like we're being proactive and trying to do something to help. 2 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter TSMichaelB admin May 1 Warning: What you are about to see may cause extreme discomfort or sheer amazement. You might be asking yourself: "What in the world am I looking at?!". Well, let me explain... This motherboard & CPU happens to be the very same components used in our Threadripper 3990X review. They sit atop an industrial grade foam, held to the chassis using only the finest zip ties on the market. To cool this monster, we opted for a 360mm AIO and special nano-fiber velcro ties. Since we are folding for team Micro Center, I opted for the blue. Lastly, we needed some monster graphics cards to fold with. I grabbed a couple 2080 Ti's and a 2080 Super and put them to work. So far, this configuration nets around 9M PPD according to the folding client, however I am looking to expand on the PSU to use another GPU.  In all seriousness, if you want a similar setup, these open air "miner" chassis are phenomenal to work with. Helped improve my scoring by giving me some space in between the GPU's so I wasn't starving them for air. My clock speeds went from 1630mhz when constrained on airflow back up to 1900mhz boost clocks. My exact chassis and risers are listed below. Chassis: https://www.microcenter.com/product/505935/kingwin-6-bay-miner-atx-open-air-gpu-case PCIe Extension Risers: https://www.microcenter.com/product/602666/bitspower-pci-express-x16-30 If you do go this route, use a normal ATX motherboard and a standard ATX power supply. My use of an EATX motherboard made this far more difficult than it needed to be, as none of the standoffs lined up, resulting in me insulating the metal frame with a thick piece of foam and zip tying the board down. My PSU, while the same width as a normal ATX PSU, is much longer. I would recommend going with a standard size and tying the cables up for a cleaner look.  Either way, I've had a lot of fun working on this project and I am thankful that everyone else is pitching in too. If anyone was worried about their setup, hopefully this makes you feel better! 3 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter kmiller922 Glenside, Pa ✭✭✭ May 2 edited May 2 So I did finally pull the trigger and purchase a new viedo card, but not to worry my old one is still up and turning as I type. I was going to get the 2080 super but as it turned out the inventory file was incorrect how ever since I was already there they checked to see what they did have on hand at the store. I left with the Asus RTX 2080 TI Overclocked. So came home and moved a few things around in my case. Also processor is the I9-9900 As You can see I was lucky enough not to have to move a hole lot much to the credit of my case with the cable mainly ran to the back side to allow better airflow in the case. Now my 980 Ti card is just below the 2080 Ti and is working very smothly. Pardon the dust as my son decided to snap the picture just before I cleaned it. 2 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter MightyMayfield Mayfield Heights, OH ✭✭ May 2 TSMichaelB said: They sit atop an industrial grade foam, held to the chassis using only the finest zip ties on the market. It looks like your system can support a 9.5 inch graphics card, so anything around that size or smaller should fit. As stated by @Dains_zoo, it's extremely important to make sure you have the power overhead to support a faster GPU. Luckily most modern GPU's are more efficient and should draw less power than what you are likely using, but it's best to be safe and determine your PSU limitations first before we make any recommendations. If you have the service tag, you might be able to plug that into Dell's website for a detailed part list of your system: https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04. 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter HalfaClue ✭ May 20 Service Tag: 32H3PS1 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter TSMichaelB admin May 20 @HalfaClue thank you for that information. Looks to be a 460W PSU: With that in mind, I would strongly advise against going with anything higher than an RTX 2060, and even that might be pushing it. A GTX 1660 Super would be a safe bet. They are not too long, and would easily out perform the Radeon 7570 that you have.  0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Sign In or Register to comment. I'm just disapointed to see the amount of support from my local store. Reason I say this is my laptop and one other gpu a 980ti I have is running around the clock, My cpu and 2080ti card are used for about 10-14 hours a day by my son since he's still home from work yet. You would think even if the store shut down a dedicated system that they have on the table with a sign, running just durning the hours of operation they would be able to do more than 35k points in a day. Just something I've taken notice to. 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter cine_chris Powder Springs, GA ✭✭✭ June 17 edited June 17 kmiller922 said: We really need a way to keep people motivated in this. The summer months will be difficult as most people will be paying more than double for the cost to run gear because of the cost to extract the heat generated. Of course no HVAC system is near 100% efficient, so summer PPDs can strain budgets & emotional commitments to a cause. One of the reasons I posted above about trimming watts expended and selecting gear with higher PPD/watt. So, one approach would be to encourage people to return in the cooler months.  Folding on cooler days or evening hours when power might be cheaper too. 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter cine_chris Powder Springs, GA ✭✭✭ June 18 @kmiller922 The expectation of a 24hr/365 commitment is daunting to many people and the cost of participation a burden. Some ideas to ease the Folding commitment, encourage participation: 1) Fold-athon Weekend, once-per-month, the team maxes out heir effort for a weekend, challenging people to tag on Friday,Monday. Good way to invite others to participate and recruit for the team. 2) Sprints, similar in concept to Fold-athon. A day, a week, self-challenge, challenge friends, other teams. 3) Kiosks at local MC stores. My local store doesn`t have anything that I`m aware of... 4) Fall recruiting strategy, cooler temps, more powerful gear with higher efficiency will be arriving. 1 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter teamtempest ✭ June 18 I don't know if any kind of contest would motivate me to do anything more than I'm already doing. Which is not much, as after two months my points totals are a little over two million and my work units completed a little over 400. My off-the-shelf machine is simply not that powerful. I'm basically just donating spare cycles when I'm not seriously using it (running the folder at full power drags down anything involving rapid screen updates). What I find more motivating is seeing actual results coming out of all these contributions people are making. How many work units does it take to complete an average project? 'Cause I have a feeling that I'm seeing the same project numbers that I saw at the start. Hundreds of millions of work units completed and apparently not done yet? That's discouraging. 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Kirito ✭✭ June 18 cine_chris said: @kmiller922 The expectation of a 24hr/365 commitment is daunting to many people and the cost of participation a burden. I know, living in New England, that winter will be harder for me as I will have to pay for gas and electricity.  Don't need the heat running in the summer and I don't run air conditioning, just fans, though my computer room is 5 degrees warmer than the rest of the house.  That said, helping people get GPU's would go a long way to helping.  Kirito 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter MightyMayfield Mayfield Heights, OH ✭✭ June 18 teamtempest said: I don't know if any kind of contest would motivate me to do anything more than I'm already doing. Hi teamtempest, the amount of WU in a project can vary greatly depending on the type of research it is. I would advise looking at the scientific papers published by the FAH team if you would like to see what ends up of the computational power! Some of them are quite interesting reads. They can take months to be peer reviewed though, so many of the covid papers are going to be quite some time out still. Those can be seen at Stanford's page before public release. 1 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter MightyMayfield Mayfield Heights, OH ✭✭ June 18 edited June 18 I time traveled and double posted don't mind me. 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter kmiller922 Glenside, Pa ✭✭✭ June 18 @cine_chris just to point one thing out I did refer to my local MC store not to everyone else. 1 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter kmiller922 Glenside, Pa ✭✭✭ June 18 MightyMayfield said: I time traveled and double posted don't mind me. stop going around the sun at max warp in the Enterprise lol 1 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter MightyMayfield Mayfield Heights, OH ✭✭ June 19 edited June 19 Wow, triple post and a day later. Welcome to the community.  When you attempt to use the webcam, does it actually display an error message saying it can't find the camera or something along those lines? If it's not, it's possible that there's just some kind of flap/screen covering the camera. Some laptops will include a privacy cover you can move out of the way for a webcam, though I'm not sure if Dell does this or not.  Check the function keys on the top row of your keyboard and see if any of them have a camera icon. If so, press that function key and see if the camera will turn on. If it doesn't, try pressing FN + that function key and see if that works. Normally there's a light next to the webcam that will come on when the camera is active. If that doesn't do it, right-click your start button and go to Device Manager. Check for a "Camera" category and if you see one, expand it and uninstall the webcam. If you don't see a Camera category, check for "Imaging Devices" and "Human Interface Devices" and see if either of those have a webcam listed, and uninstall it if so. After that restart the computer.  If there is no webcam listed in Device Manager, we'd want to check Dell's website to see if they have webcam drivers available, but without knowing exactly which Inspiron 7000 model you have I can't provide the link. You could go to Dell's website yourself and it can auto-detect your model: https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04?app=drivers 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Workingmom ✭ April 24 My son's laptop has a similar problem.  The screen got cracked slightly. If i manually download and install driver - screen goes black. once a graphics driver is installed - there seems to be no way to get the black screens to stop short of reinstalling windows again. i have also tried booting with a known working graphics card - makes no difference, and most of the time i dont even get a POST on the screen... but if i keep rebooting it, i can get the windows recovery environment and boot it into safe mode. Safe mode works fine, but no matter what i do - uninstall display drivers, install new ones, etc - i reboot into not-safe mode,   aaaaaaaaaand black screen. i have updated bios drivers. i have 1 stick of ram 8 gb, i have played with DOCP enabled and disabled - no difference. i have been at this machine for approx 10 hours, and i'm at a complete loss. anyone have any ideas? or is it time to return the cpu and look for an older generation? 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Comments mrosebro ✭ April 28 forgot to mention motherboard is ASUS Prime A320M-K 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter TSTonyV admin April 28 As a temporary workaround, you could try changing the device installation settings to stop manufacturer apps/drivers from downloaded automatically, but this may not work depending on which version of Windows 10 you're on.  Go to Control Panel > System and Security > System > Advanced System settings on the left. That will open the System Properties Window, once you're there click the Hardware type then click Device Installation Settings and change it to "No." You could also have corrupt installation media for some reason? Though it's unlikely, I'd recommend creating a new set of Windows 10 media on a different flash drive if you haven't already with the Media Creation Tool: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter TSMikeW admin April 28 If this issue persist through a reinstall, I would suggest disabling automatic driver installation as Tony stated from safe mode. Then run the AMD cleanup utility located here: https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-601 This will wipe out all of your AMD display drivers. You could also go into try booting with low resolution video mode.
