However, I'll get a message to our store managers for you to have them reach out about this. Let us know if you have any questions.  0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter BigBeard ✭ July 19 edited July 19 Thank you. I already have a gtx2080 1000w psu and such so these are the 4 things im looking at getting. Do all of these work well together? any special considerations i have to take into account? 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Comments TSMikeW admin July 2 The build looks good overall. The Crosshair  VIII Hero is a very good board. I'd go a little higher on the RAM, because you can on this platform and it'll increase your overall performance. Go for the DDR4-3600 CL16 kit. You shouldn't have any issue running it on the XMP Profile.  Also like the Gen4 NVME drive. I've tested the Inland 1TB drive and you will hit 5GB/s on the read. It's not a huge performance in day to day usage but it'll shorten load times. 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Sign In or Register to comment. That board can support higher memory speeds than 3000, you simply have to enable the XMP/DOCP profile to do so and technically you're "overclocking" at that point. I would still 100% recommend DDR4-3600 if you're going with a third generation Ryzen CPU since that's the sweetspot for performance. https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/MAG-B550-TOMAHAWK/Specification That should be true for basically any B450/B550/X570 motherboard besides that one.  As for your build, the parts list looks solid, although if you're specifically targeting gaming you may want to look at the Intel i5-10600k at that price point. The 3700X is a great CPU but it is beat by the 10600k in gaming scenarios. Of course if you're in other situations outside that that are better at utilizing the extra two cores the 3700X has over the 10600k then the 3700X will be better. Video editing and rendering can fall into that category.  0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter FallenGremory ✭ September 9 @TSTonyV yea it won't be just for gaming but that will be what I use it for at least 9% of the time. I'd like to stick with amd. I could probably go for the 3800 if that would be better, also is there a better motherboard you'd recommend? There's been a few msi or asus ones I've kinda been looking at 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter TSTonyV admin September 9 There's no reason to get the 3800X over the 3700X. You might see a 1-2% increase at most and that would never be noticeable in practice, just save the extra money instead.  The B550 you chose is a solid option, if you'd like a long breakdown of good B550 boards to look at I'd recommend watching this video: It covers a wide range of B550 boards in various form factors/price points.  0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter FallenGremory ✭ September 9 edited September 9 @TSTonyVwell now I'm kinda looking at the aorus pro... It's a minor difference, but CL16 is slightly better latency vs CL18.  0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter FallenGremory ✭ September 9 edited September 9 Did you mean a 4 pack or a 2 pack? The memory I listed says 60 on amazon, a 4 pack of the same exact thing but 16 says $320, a 2 pack is about $60. Which doesn't really make much sense... A 2x8GB kit of DDR4-3600 CL18 and a 2x8GB kit of DDR4-3600 CL16 should be fairly similar in price. Normally the CL16 will be a little more expensive but depending on which kits you find/deals available you can find them for the same or a cheaper price, e.g. https://www.microcenter.com/product/626787/corsair-vengeance-lpx-16gb-(2-x-8gb)-ddr4-3600-pc4-28800-cl18-dual-channel-desktop-memory-kit-cmk16gx4m2d3600---black and  https://www.microcenter.com/product/612970/gskill-ripjaws-v-16gb-(2-x-8gb)-ddr4-3600-pc4-28800-cl16-dual-channel-desktop-memory-kit-f4-3600c16d-16gvkc---black It's not THAT big of a difference, this is a super minor nitpick so I wouldn't be too concerned about it, but it never hurts to have that teeny little bit of extra.  0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter FallenGremory ✭ September 9 I don't live anywhere near a micro center... admin April 20 @JADO have you attempted to manually add them by going to Configure > Slots > Add? You should be able to leave the GPU value at -1. From there, add a slot for each potential GPU connected to the system, then save. They should reappear. If that doesn't work, you may be missing the GPUs.txt file in your [email protected] Client AppData directory. If that file is missing, visit this page, select all, save it into a notepad text file named GPUs.txt and place it in the %AppData%\FAHClient directory (Windows + R to open Run prompt, type that directory in for quick access). GPUs.txt page: https://apps.foldingathome.org/GPUs.txt Hopefully this works, if not, let me know. I'll try to troubleshoot more with you. 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter JADO ✭ April 20 edited April 20 Thanks for the help.  I am pretty knowledgeable on this stuff and at this point I am guessing it a Windows issue....but, I have no way to know.  I have tried to add them manually but since FAH sees no GPU's the add disappears as soon as I exit and go back to the settings sheet.  I have also looked at the GPUs.txt file and it is where it is supposed to be  and again everything worked correctly for over 2 weeks.  The cards have two bios's on them. You can select them with a switch.  one was modified for crypto mining the other is stock..  I was using the stock bios and everything worked fine.  I switched to crypto bios (to see if I could improve speed) and everything still worked but it was not stable.  So, I switched back to standard bios which had been working and after the switch back Folding stopped finding the cards.  Again, they show up in device manager and it reports they are working normally.  When it stopped was when I started uninstalling and installing card drivers and FAH in different combinations but have not been able to get them to reconnect.. 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter JADO ✭ April 20 Thanks for helping.  I installed 7.6.9 today and I was able to manually add the GPU's.  Problem seems to be solved for now.  Thanks again. 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter TSMichaelB admin April 20 Interesting that it only started after swapping to and from the VBIOS using the physical toggle switch. When you nuked the GPU drivers, did you use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller)? Just wanting to make sure every registry entry tied to those drivers were removed prior to reinstallation. Can you provide the name of the exact model of RX 580 you're using? I'll see if I have any lying around that I can try to replicate the issue with.  0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter JADO ✭ April 20 edited April 20 Actually, I don't think the VBIOS had anything to do with it.  I think it related to the latest FAH updates.. but again I am not sure.  I did use DDU (full discosure..I did not run it in Safe Mode) then I used Regedit and deleted all remnants of FAH I could find.  Still don't know why it would not find the cards after that  but after installing 7.6.9 today I was able to find and add them manually.  With 6 RX580s and a i5 9600K 6 core processor should I have any problems running all 6 cards?  Can I also safely use some of 6 cpu cores in addition to the GPU's?  Adding cards manually, FAH also added my Intel 630 motherboard graphics  GPU for processing.  I removed it because I figured that would just cause problems.  I guess what I am asking is with the hardware I have what do thin the optimal folding configuration for folding should be here?  Thanks  0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter TSMichaelB admin April 20 Glad to hear the GPU's are recognized now. As for the hardware configuration, [email protected] recommends leaving one processing core per GPU. Since your 9600k has exactly 6 cores, I wouldn't recommend folding on the CPU at all as it will be of very little gain and may be detrimental to your GPU's scores, which are weighted far more heavily in terms of value. I don't see any issue running the Intel iGPU as it simply uses 2MB of cache and some spare system memory, so it shouldn't impact your stability at all. It might not score all that well, but it shouldn't hurt anything either.  0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter JADO ✭ April 20 My thoughts exactly.  Thank you for confirming.  Appreciate the help. 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter TSMichaelB admin April 20 My pleasure. That is pretty bad.  I mean the 3090 is really a different type of card altogether.  It may be named the same way as the consumer-focused gaming cards, but the 3090 is the replacement for the RTX Titan.  The RTX Titan was basically identical in gaming performance to the 2080ti despite being twice as expensive, because it was really a workstation card that was designed for applications that are heavily VRAM intensive. People should be treating the 3090 the same way. If you're concerned about 10GB of VRAM not being enough (and you really shouldn't, 10GB is plenty even at 4k) then you should just wait for the 20GB 3080 to come out instead and buy that. 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter «1…29303132333435…49» Go Sign In or Register to comment. Include the brand and model name of your computer as well in the query. This often yields interesting results from discussions on the web by users who have been experiencing similar problems. Read the topic general suggestions for troubleshooting system crashes for more information.  Note that it's not always possible to state with certainty whether a reported driver is responsible for crashing your system or that the root cause is in another module. Nonetheless it's suggested you look for updates for the products that these drivers belong to and regularly visit Windows update or enable automatic updates for Windows. In case a piece of malfunctioning hardware is causing trouble, a search with Google on the bug check errors together with the model name and brand of your computer may help you investigate this further.  0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Comments TSMikeW admin August 2 Greetings, System is unstable, and it's likely due to the RAM. Community Article What kind of RAM will work on my Laptop — Micro Center What kind of RAM will work on my Laptop Mishka ✭ May 17 edited May 17 in Technical Support Questions Hello, I have Lenovo IdeaPad Y700-15ISK (80nv system model) with DDR4-2133 4GB x2 I'm trying to chose what RAM to upgrade, I need it for CAD. Crucial website says that I can have up to 32 GB of RAM with DDR4-2666 "guaranteed compatible". The manual says that 16 GB is max. Also the manual (and the Lenovo website) only contains ram parts (as compatible) with DDR4-2133 and DDR4-2400. Should I risk going DDR4-2666 16 GB and then later getting one more 16 GB? Or should I just stick with DDR4-2400 (have not seen DDR4-2133 on the microcenter website) 8 GB x2? 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Comments TS_JosephF admin May 17 Hello @Mishka I would stick with what Lenovo recommends in the manual. Crucial might list Maximum Memory as 32 GB but they have a disclaimer below stating "*Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory". So it may not actually work with 32 GB since Lenovo lists the maximum as 16 GB. As far as the speed goes, you can purchase the 2400 or even the 2666 speed but if your memory controller can only run at 2133 then it will downclock the speed of the RAM to 2133. You are welcome to install it or you can just purchase DDR4-2133 RAM to save a little bit of money. 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Mishka ✭ May 17 Thank you for your explanation, @TS_JosephF. 1 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Sign In or Register to comment. Can I take it back to Microcenter to have the right processor (3900X 12 core 3.8 Ghz) and memory (32 GB DDR4-3200) installed into the PC, as it was advertised?  Do I have to take it back to the same Microcenter?  (I'd prefer to take it back to the Microcenter in Brooklyn NY, which is much more convenient for me). The Corsair RGB Fan Hub (the one pictured) will power the RGB For your Corsair RGB Fans.  It will not allow you to control the RGB however, it just defaults them to the default RGB setting on the Fan (Rainbow Cycle usually).  You can however, connect the RGB Fan Hub to either the Lightning Node PRO or the Commander PRO.  These will connect to the RGB Fan HUB and then connect to a USB 2.0 header on your motherboard.   In short, to make it controllable, you WILL need to connect it to the Lightning Node PRO or Commander PRO.   0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Ionmaster987 ✭ September 7 edited September 7 Darn, would i at-least be able to control their speed through the hub? Or no? If so, i might as-well just get a Commander Pro, since it has enough slots to control the fans the AIO comes with. In the future, might want a lighting node pro to be able to have the RGB be seperate for other fans.. So, now a question: do you think that AIO can fit inside a Carbide Series Spec01?  https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/529832591134556162/752558364168552489/unknown.png This is my case, it looks like it'll fit at the top if the tank is towards the front.. Wait hang on, i just looked, apparently the one i've been talking about is the iCUE H100I RGB PRO XT Liquid Cooler, the Platinum's a bit too expensive, but it appears it doesn't even have rgb fans, so i might not even need a commander.. If not, I'm not really sure what to do, i've been wanting an AIO just because it'd be quieter and better looking that i haven't given any thought to what i'd do if i couldn't even put it in. 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter TSTonyV admin September 7 I'm going based on Corsair's spec sheet on their website.  https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categories/Products/Cases/Carbide-Series™-SPEC-01-Red-LED-Mid-Tower-Gaming-Case/p/CC-9011050-WW#tab-tech-specs Even if it looks like there's room, the question is what the clearances are. The problem with the Spec-01 is that if you install a top-mounted radiator and fans they will come down far enough that they'll cover the tops of the RAM slots as well as the 8-pin CPU power on the top-left corner, and any other things like fan headers across the top. If your RAM or anything else plugged in across the top is too tall, you won't be able to properly install the cooler.  0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Ionmaster987 ✭ September 7 So, then i'd need a new case.. Just depends on what your preferences are. Although from what I hear MS Flight Sim 2020 is pretty difficult to run even on high-end systems.  The obvious con with buying two more of those BenQ monitors is dealing with the bezels.  You'll end up with an overall wider field of view which is the main benefit, so it depends on if you think that's worth the tradeoff.  Without knowing exactly what the other monitors you're looking at are I can't give an exact comparison, but for a 32-34" 4K monitor obviously the main benefit is no bezels while still maintaining a decently wide field of view and being able to run at 4k. However, the downside is that should you be in a situation where you're not able to run something at 4k very well and want to lower your resolution, you'll lose clarity because of the larger screen.  What else do you do with the system or what other games do you play? 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter AlexS admin September 8 As a sim racer, I've always enjoyed the convenience of running one single ultra wide monitor.  I currently use a Samsung CHG90 49" monitor.  They have a 1440P version of this monitor for about $200-$300 more but it was beautiful to run Flight Simulator on.  I've recently changed my direction towards Elite Dangerous which also fares well with an Ultra-Wide. I tried the triple monitor setup before and it's okay, but the drawback for me was just more cable management and I unfortunately did not have a mount that was sturdy enough to properly align 3 monitors without any sagging, thus not making it flush.  Ultrawide  Pros Less Cable Management (One power cable, One display cable) No bevels to worry about.  Cons Not ideal if you regularly play games that do not necessarily support ultra wide.   0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Sign In or Register to comment. You'll need a hub, a windows 10 ISO, keyboard and a mouse. You can create the windows 10 ISO here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 First make sure to create 32 bit media, not 64 bit. You can change the boot order to a flash drive or you can use the UEFI shell also. Nice option to have, you could just copy the the files from an ISO onto a flash drive or hard drive and manually boot to that with the UEFI shell. Just select the drive and it's like bash. 'ls' to list folder contents. Find the efi file to boot to. I believe it's  \EFI\boot\bootx86.efi (for 32 bit) and it'll startup for you. Once you're in we need to access the command prompt. You can go Repair > Trouble shoot > Command Prompt or just press Shift + F10. First lets try to revert it with DISM: DISM /Image:C:\ /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions Let this run it and it'll basically cancel the update. Reboot, you'll still get a warning, but it should actually revert then boot normally. Option 2 is a manual way to do this with the pending files.  You'll need to navigate to C:\Windows\WinSXS Commands for this: C: cd Windows\WinSXS Now we're looking for a pending.xml file, there are probably two, and one will have a ridiculously long string attached to the name. So we'll use a wildcard to see both, type: dir pending* This is going to show you all files that begin with pending. You'll see two files and we just want to remove them. If it's just the two delete, again using a wildcard: del pending* Reboot after this, it should again fail the update, but it will roll out of it this time. 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Leave a Comment BoldItalicStrikethroughOrdered listUnordered list Format Heading 1Heading 2 QuoteCodeSpoiler Emoji Url Image Align leftAlign centerAlign rightToggle HTML viewToggle full pageToggle lights Drop image/file Home • WinBookComment As ... Community Article laptop — Micro Center laptop Roach Highland, Illinois ✭ June 21 in Sales I have a Acer tower and want to add a laptop.  what is the cheapest that you have and would connect to my current desktop? 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Comments TS_JosephF admin June 21 Hello @Roach Are you looking for a laptop that would connect to your current monitor? If so, we would just need to know what kind of cable you use to connect to your current monitor. I am happy to help you find a laptop that best suits your needs.  What do you plan on using the laptop for? Will it be mainly used for work, like checking email and browsing the web? Also, what is your budget for this? 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Mesha ✭ July 5 I have the same question. Will a VGA to USB adapter work for dual monitor purposes? I will be using it for work. And I will be accessing different systems. The laptop is a Dell 7400 Latitude and it only has a USB port. The Acer monitor only has a VGA and DVI port.  0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter TSMikeW admin July 5 @Mesha I answered this for you in your own thread in more detail. It will work. just make sure you have administrator access to install the DisplayLink software, if this is on a work laptop. 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Michal ✭ July 25 edited July 25 (For Cambridge, MA) Hi, I'm interested in one of the HP laptop deals. It comes with 4 GB of memory. I want to upgrade that to 16 or 32 GB. I see you have those RAM cards available. These are SODIMM DDR 260-pin. Can I get the laptop and upgrade memory card on the same day? Can you pre-install the memory upgrade card? 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter TSTonyV admin July 25 Michal said: (For Cambridge, MA) Hi, I'm interested in one of the HP laptop deals. Can you pre-install the memory upgrade card? we cannot do a pre-install of any parts, that has to be handled after you purchase the unit at the actual store.  As for whether or not it can be done same day, that depends on how busy the service desk is and what time you come in. We're sometimes able to, but not always.  1 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Sign In or Register to comment. Community Article WinBook TW801 won't update Windows 10 - Out of space — Micro Center WinBook TW801 won't update Windows 10 - Out of space grpnkc ✭ June 16 in WinBook My old tablet updated to version 1607, but chokes on vers 1903, saying it's out of space. This tablet has 32 GB storage, and 2 GB Ram.  Would a clean install of Windows 10 fix it, or is that now requiring 32 GB?  Should I reformat ALL of the storage, including Recovery partition, and the 3 others?  It ran fine on Win10 before this.... 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Comments TS_JosephF admin June 20 Hello @grpnkc I already responded to your other post about deleting the other partitions. I did not realize you are just trying to create enough space to update Windows.  First, I recommend uninstalling any unused or unwanted programs. There is a lot of software that comes pre-installed on Windows 10 that is not required for the PC to run. You can easily do this by right-clicking on the start button then click Apps & Features at the top. This will display the list of programs that are installed. Once you click on a program, a uninstall button will appear.  You can also use disk cleanup to free up some drive space as well. It is quite simple to do. You can just search for 'Disk Cleanup' in the Windows search bar to get to this. Then you will see an option to 'Clean up system files'. Select what files you would like to remove then click OK.  Reinstalling Windows can solve this issue as well. Just make sure when you create the Windows 10 USB it is an updated version of Windows 10. Then, yes, you will just delete all partitions when reinstalling so you are left with just unallocated space. Select that and click next and Windows will create the partitions it needs.  0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter TSMikeW admin June 25 What I would suggest here is downloading the ISO file onto an SD card or flash drive from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 You can mount the ISO file and try to run the installer that way. It'll require less disk space.  You can run a clean install, It can be a bit painful reinstalling the drivers manually if you haven't done it before, as they are multiple system devices that need to be updated individually as an example, but we can provide some guidance there. 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Leave a Comment BoldItalicStrikethroughOrdered listUnordered list Format Heading 1Heading 2 QuoteCodeSpoiler Emoji Url Image Align leftAlign centerAlign rightToggle HTML viewToggle full pageToggle lights Drop image/file Home • WinBookComment As ...
