Here we will list some items for your dream work at home or your learning at home setup to keep your productivity high.  Table of Contents Selecting a Computer Selecting a Computer for eLearning Selecting a Monitor Selecting a Docking Station  Selecting a Webcam Selecting a Headset / Microphone Selecting an All-in-One Printer Selecting Networking Devices Selecting External Storage for Data Backup / File Transfers Selecting a Mouse and Keyboard  Selecting a Desk / Chair Work from Home Other Items 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Comments AlexS admin September 2020 edited September 2020 Selecting a Computer for Working from Home Second only to smartphones, computers keep us interconnected with people, jobs, current events, etc. With primary work function and efficiency in mind, here are some of the best work from home options for both laptops and desktops that we would recommend.   To start, this first section of our computer selection, we will be strictly focusing on working from home choices. However, any of these choices listed here could also be outstanding choices for remote learning. Our recommended laptop models come with a Solid State Drive (SSD) for quicker boot times, at least 8GB of RAM for all your multitasking needs, and include a video output if you want to attach a second monitor without the need of a docking station. ASUS Vivobook 15-F512DA HP 15-ef1072nr Lenovo ThinkBook 13s  If you’d like a 2-in-1 laptop for working at home, that’s an option as well!  Dell Inspiron 14 5400 2-in-1 Lenovo Flex 5 2-in-1 Now, if Apple computers are your preference, you can for sure use a MacBook Air or MacBook Pro to get the job done at home. MacBook Air Early 2020  MacBook Pro Mid 2020 If you’re looking for the best work from home desktop computer at a great price but need a smaller profile, the Dell OptiPlex 3070 CPJT9 SFF would be ideal.  Alternatively, if a midsize tower suits you, I’d go with the Powerspec B245 Desktop.  Both computers will accommodate most work at home needs. Dell OptiPlex 3070 CPJT9 SFF Desktop PowerSpec B245 Desktop 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook AlexS admin September 2020 edited September 2020 Selecting a Computer for eLearning For remote learning or eLearning, any of our prior choices will do great. Many schools recommend Chromebooks for virtual school, as they are fundamental and affordable for your online education needs. While they don’t have all the functionality of a Windows or Mac system, they can access Google Docs for editing word documents and spreadsheets, and other Google apps. Samsung Chromebook 4 11.6" Laptop Computer Acer Chromebook 315 CB315-3H-C4QE 15.6" Laptop  Another Chromebook option would be a 2-in-1 Chromebook with a touchscreen. Acer Chromebook 311 CB311-9HT-C4UM 11.6" Laptop Computer 2-in-1 Samsung Chromebook Plus V2 12.2" 2-in-1 Laptop Computer  Please check out our selection at any time for Chromebooks, all laptops, and all desktops by clicking these links! In case you are looking for a monitor, we will make recommendations with as many video ports available for maximum flexibility. The ASUS VP247QG is a superb choice for a monitor to work from home. It has most of the standard outputs commonly used with computers - VGA, HDMI, and DisplayPort. It should be easily compatible with most laptops and desktops. A larger display choice at 31.5” is the Acer ET322QU. It also has VGA, HDMI, and DisplayPort options to connect with to get you up and running. Now, if you’re going for maximum productivity and want to be a multitasking pro, look into an Ultrawide monitor. Our first choice would be the Acer Nitro XV340CK, which comes in with a 34” display but only features HDMI and DisplayPort for output.  A step up from that would be a monitor like the Samsung C43J890 with a 43” display and still having HDMI and DisplayPort connections at the ready for you. Check out Micro Center’s complete monitor selection here.  0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook AlexS admin September 2020 edited September 2020 Selecting a Docking Station Are you looking to maximize the most of your home office setup?  A docking station is a way to add on additional ports, such as USB, monitor ports, and others. These docking stations will be universal to any laptop as long as you have the right port; some use USB, and others use USB-C. These docking stations only need a regular USB port to get it connected to your laptop. Kensington SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Docking Station with Dual DVI/HDMI/VGA Video - Features 6 USB ports, 3.5mm audio jacks, DVI, VGA, HDMI, and an Ethernet port. IOGear USB 3.0 Universal Docking Station - Features 6 USB ports, HDMI, DVI, and an Ethernet port. If you have USB-C available on your laptop, you can utilize a universal docking station. IOGear USB-C Triple Video Docking Station - Ability to run three monitors, plus 4 USB ports. Check out Micro Center’s complete docking station lineup here. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook AlexS admin September 2020 edited September 2020 Selecting a Webcam A webcam is an essential part of the work from home lifestyle; whether it be Zoom, Skype, or any other video conferencing program, you’ll need a webcam to participate in the group calls appropriately. Another thing to note is that most webcams will come with a built-in microphone, but the quality may not be up to par as a dedicated headset or microphone. A new router or extender may be helpful if the wireless signal’s strength is not strong enough to reach all rooms of your home.  While your ISP may have provided a modem with built-in WIFI, in case you weren't, a Wireless Router such as these options should do the trick.  These devices will work in conjunction with your modem to emit a wireless signal (WiFi) Tenda AC8 AC1200 Dual-Band Gigabit Wireless Router  ASUS RT-AC68U AC1900 Dual Band Gigabit Wireless AC Router - w/ AiMesh Support Wireless Extender - These devices, when properly configured, can assist with strengthening the range of your wireless signal beyond dead zones of your home. I also purchased three years of Office 365. I am receiving messages from Microsoft that I need to renew my subscription. Since purchasing my laptop from the Denver store I have recently moved to Florida and the renewal cards for my additional two years, as well as my receipt, are somewhere in storage and I am need the key code from them. Please help. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Best Answer TSTDavey admin April 25 Accepted Answer Hello @Pdeany and thanks for posting on the MIcrocenter Community Forum. Those 365 cards are directly from Microsoft. We don't have access to their database or their activation keys for office 365 merchandise we sell, unfortunately. Are you able to access storage to attempt to find the 365 cards? The other option would be to just invest in a renewal of office 365 either for a year or two. We're sorry, but we don' t have access to Microsoft activation keys, we just sell their (Microsoft) software. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Categories 6.7K All Categories 1K The Blog 32 What's Trending 164 How to & Technical Guides 10 Computer Hardware 119 Software 3 Home Office 6 Networking Audio/Visual 2 Home Automation 15 3D Printers 9 Maker 15 PC Build Guides 81 Reviews & Buying Guides 27 Build Showcase 13 Contests 35 Past Contests 811 The Community 1.7K General Discussion 104 New Members 85 Consumer Tech 26 Prebuilt PCs and Laptops 75 Software 2 Audio/Visual 12 Networking & Security 1 Home Automation 2 Digital Photography 3 Content Creators 21 Hobby Boards & Projects 23 3D Printing 49 Retro Arcade/Gaming 79 All Other Tech 1.2K Store Information and Policy 49 Off Topic 5 Community Ideas & Feedback 111 Your Completed Builds 2.6K Build-Your-Own PC 1.7K Help Choosing Parts 220 Graphics Cards 161 CPUs, Memory, and Motherboards 61 Cases and Power Supplies 19 Air and Liquid Cooling 13 Monitors and Displays 28 Peripherals 9 All Other Parts 21 Featured Categories We love seeing what our customers build Submit photos and a description of your PC to our build showcase Submit Now Looking for a little inspiration? A: Yes. This is like a Google Account or an Apple ID.  If you do not already have a Microsoft Account created, then you will need to create one before installing Office.    Q: How do I Install Office 2019? A: Go to www.office.com/setup. Sign in using a Microsoft account and enter in the product key. Type in the product as it appears on the back of the activation card. If a message that the Product key is invalid appears, recheck the activation card again and make sure the activation key is fully revealed. Once activated the system will confirm that the product has been activated, click install to install Office.   Q: Do I need to upgrade from an older version of Office to Office 2019? A: No, however Microsoft may stop supporting the product or may have already stopped supporting it. This means any issues found in that program may not be fixed. Also, any new features that are added to the 2019 software would not be available in older versions.   Q: What Is the difference between Office Home and Student 2019 and Office Home and Business 2019? A: Office Home and Student 2019 Suite comes with Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Office Home and Business includes the previous three applications but will also include Outlook for email.    Q: Can I use the Office 2019 without Internet access? A: Internet Access is needed initially to install the Office 2019 product. However, once the program is installed onto the computer, internet is not required. If internet is not accessible, the offline Office installer is located on Microsoft’s website. More information on this is found here: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/use-the-office-offline-installer-f0a85fe7-118f-41cb-a791-d59cef96ad1c     Q: Can I Install Office on a New computer if I previously installed it on a different system? A: Yes. After uninstalling office from the original computer, sign into your Microsoft account. Once signed in, go to the subscription and services tab. Look for the Office 2019 product and click install.   Q: Does Office 2019 Come with OneDrive? A:  Office 2019 does not come with OneDrive Storage. Only Office 365 comes with the OneDrive 1 TB of storage space. However, 5 GB of OneDrive storage is free with any Windows 10 computer.   Q Can I have office 2019 installed on multiple computers at once? A: No. Office 2019 products are only able to be installed and activated on one computer at a time. If you need a product that can be activated on multiple computers, we recommend using Office 365 Home instead.   Q: Can I import old .pst files into Outlook 2019? A: Yes. To import the file, go to the file menu in outlook and select the option Open and Export. Select the option to import/export. Choose outlook data file. Select Replace duplicates with items imported and select Next. Select Include subfolders and Import items into same folder in and select Finish. This process may take a little time depending on the size of the .pst file you are importing.   © Vanilla Foundation Theme 2021 Powered By Vanilla Community Article How to Check What Version of Office You Have — Micro Center Computers Computer Parts Custom PC Builder DIY/ Maker {$smarty.capture.menu} Activity Categories Discussions Computers Computer Parts Custom PC Builder DIY/ Maker Home › How to & Technical Guides › Software How to Check What Version of Office You Have TSAustinM admin April 2020 edited June 3 in Software An article explaining how to check which version of Microsoft Office you have installed on Windows 10 1.) Doe ✭ February 26 edited February 26 in Store Information and Policy I recently bought a 3070 at MC HOuston. Due to a snowstorm a pipe busted in the house and got water all over my pc area. I took the 3070 and put it in the pc after making sure everything is dry, I heard a loud pop and the pc doesn’t respond afterward. I got a little worry and took the 3070 and threw it into my brother in law pc and it didn’t turn on the display. So after a while fiddling with it I figured I fried it. So now I’m wondering if I should go stand in line and try to get another one, and explain to the staffs what happened. I’m also planning on buying all the other pc parts at the same time. I just want to know if they would let me buy another 3000s series in the same month 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Comments LandShark admin February 26 Hello @Doe If this is still within the return period, I would bring it back to the store. If you purchased a protection plan for the GPU, I would recommend the same. This would be at the discretion of the store manager. I would recommend return the item to the store to speak with a manager about this. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Doe ✭ February 26 Thank you so much for your suggestion, I’ll do as you said and see what will happen! 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook LandShark admin February 26 You're quite welcome! I also have a ESET virus protection. This week I have been unable to open any Office product. I've tried to open the apps directly, and by double clicking files that I have saved on my computer. When I try to click on the app icon, it is as if I never clicked on it. But when I click on a file, I get a MsgBox that says, "Windows cannot find file, 'C:\Users\Me\Downloads\file.xls'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again." When I checked Office.com for my subscription, it shows the current annual one is good until June 11, three more weeks. Why is this happening and how can I get it fixed? 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Comments TSMikeW admin May 2020 It's difficult to say what happened, but something damaged the program. Most likely an update. Simple fix is just to repair it and Microsoft offers a system for this. Press "WIndows" and "R" on your keyboard, and type: appwiz.cpl In the list find Office 365 and right click, choose the "Change" option. Select "Online Repair". It'll redownload the client and repair the installation for you. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Categories 6.7K All Categories 1K The Blog 32 What's Trending 164 How to & Technical Guides 10 Computer Hardware 119 Software 3 Home Office 6 Networking Audio/Visual 2 Home Automation 15 3D Printers 9 Maker 15 PC Build Guides 81 Reviews & Buying Guides 27 Build Showcase 13 Contests 35 Past Contests 812 The Community 1.7K General Discussion 104 New Members 85 Consumer Tech 26 Prebuilt PCs and Laptops 75 Software 2 Audio/Visual 12 Networking & Security 1 Home Automation 2 Digital Photography 3 Content Creators 21 Hobby Boards & Projects 23 3D Printing 49 Retro Arcade/Gaming 79 All Other Tech 1.2K Store Information and Policy 49 Off Topic 5 Community Ideas & Feedback 111 Your Completed Builds 2.6K Build-Your-Own PC 1.7K Help Choosing Parts 220 Graphics Cards 161 CPUs, Memory, and Motherboards 61 Cases and Power Supplies 19 Air and Liquid Cooling 13 Monitors and Displays 28 Peripherals 9 All Other Parts 21 Featured Categories We love seeing what our customers build Submit photos and a description of your PC to our build showcase Submit Now Looking for a little inspiration?
