Here is my latest log: *********************** Log Started 2020-04-20T01:57:45Z *********************** 01:57:45:****************************** FAHClient ****************************** admin April 20 @JADO have you attempted to manually add them by going to Configure > Slots > Add? You should be able to leave the GPU value at -1. From there, add a slot for each potential GPU connected to the system, then save. They should reappear. If that doesn't work, you may be missing the GPUs.txt file in your [email protected] Client AppData directory. If that file is missing, visit this page, select all, save it into a notepad text file named GPUs.txt and place it in the %AppData%\FAHClient directory (Windows + R to open Run prompt, type that directory in for quick access). GPUs.txt page: https://apps.foldingathome.org/GPUs.txt Hopefully this works, if not, let me know. I'll try to troubleshoot more with you. 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter JADO ✭ April 20 edited April 20 Thanks for the help.  I am pretty knowledgeable on this stuff and at this point I am guessing it a Windows issue....but, I have no way to know.  I have tried to add them manually but since FAH sees no GPU's the add disappears as soon as I exit and go back to the settings sheet.  I have also looked at the GPUs.txt file and it is where it is supposed to be  and again everything worked correctly for over 2 weeks.  The cards have two bios's on them. You can select them with a switch.  one was modified for crypto mining the other is stock..  I was using the stock bios and everything worked fine.  I switched to crypto bios (to see if I could improve speed) and everything still worked but it was not stable.  So, I switched back to standard bios which had been working and after the switch back Folding stopped finding the cards.  Again, they show up in device manager and it reports they are working normally.  When it stopped was when I started uninstalling and installing card drivers and FAH in different combinations but have not been able to get them to reconnect.. 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter JADO ✭ April 20 Thanks for helping.  I installed 7.6.9 today and I was able to manually add the GPU's.  Problem seems to be solved for now.  Thanks again. 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter TSMichaelB admin April 20 Interesting that it only started after swapping to and from the VBIOS using the physical toggle switch. When you nuked the GPU drivers, did you use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller)? Just wanting to make sure every registry entry tied to those drivers were removed prior to reinstallation. Can you provide the name of the exact model of RX 580 you're using? I'll see if I have any lying around that I can try to replicate the issue with.  0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter JADO ✭ April 20 edited April 20 Actually, I don't think the VBIOS had anything to do with it.  I think it related to the latest FAH updates.. but again I am not sure.  I did use DDU (full discosure..I did not run it in Safe Mode) then I used Regedit and deleted all remnants of FAH I could find.  Still don't know why it would not find the cards after that  but after installing 7.6.9 today I was able to find and add them manually.  With 6 RX580s and a i5 9600K 6 core processor should I have any problems running all 6 cards?  Can I also safely use some of 6 cpu cores in addition to the GPU's?  Adding cards manually, FAH also added my Intel 630 motherboard graphics  GPU for processing.  I removed it because I figured that would just cause problems.  I guess what I am asking is with the hardware I have what do thin the optimal folding configuration for folding should be here?  Thanks  0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter TSMichaelB admin April 20 Glad to hear the GPU's are recognized now. As for the hardware configuration, [email protected] recommends leaving one processing core per GPU. Since your 9600k has exactly 6 cores, I wouldn't recommend folding on the CPU at all as it will be of very little gain and may be detrimental to your GPU's scores, which are weighted far more heavily in terms of value. I don't see any issue running the Intel iGPU as it simply uses 2MB of cache and some spare system memory, so it shouldn't impact your stability at all. It might not score all that well, but it shouldn't hurt anything either.  0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter JADO ✭ April 20 My thoughts exactly.  Thank you for confirming.  Appreciate the help. 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter TSMichaelB admin April 20 My pleasure. What will it cost to replace the screen (Dell Part Number 53MPX)? Do you have this in stock at St. Louis Park? And a new battery (Dell part number 07G07). Do I need an appointment for this service? 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Comments TSTonyV admin May 23 edited May 23 Hello @Raj! Welcome to the Community.  It appears we don't have those batteries currently in stock at the St. Louis Park store, however, if you bring your laptop to the service desk they should be able to order a replacement. I'm not sure exactly what it would cost, laptop batteries can cost anywhere from $50-100+ depending on the specific computer and battery. I would expect this one to be $80-100 or so.  For the screen, we would have to order those parts from Dell as we don't carry them on the shelf. Labor charge for screen replacement is $99.99, plus the cost of the screen itself. Since we have to get the parts from Dell, I can't look up the cost unfortunately.  We are currently not taking appointments, it's all walk-in and drop off 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Raj ✭ May 23 Thanks. If I order the screen, can I drop it off with the laptop for installation? 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter TSTonyV admin May 23 To be honest I'm not sure. I believe with laptops we don't install user supplied parts, but I could be wrong about that. If you could private message your contact information I could get your information to the service desk at your store to have them reach back out to you.  0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Raj ✭ May 23 I am looking for links to send a PM- don't see it 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Sign In or Register to comment. I'm like 2 hours away so can't check daily either. Couldn't go on release, I have called today and monday and talked with a rep. Doesn't sound like they know when they'll get any. This being for 5900x and 5950x. I know you asked for 5600x availability, but i only asked them about top skus. I will ask in the future about all skus. They did not have any new stock yesterday, and had no new stock today either. Rep I spoke to on Monday said he expected new stock on Tuesday and Thursday, Rep I talked to today said he expected new stock on Wednesday and Friday. I'm hoping that's a miscommunication there and Monday rep meant "stock comes in on Tuesday/Thursday night, to be available the next morning" while today's rep meant "we'll have the stock available Wednesday and Friday mornings" which would be the same thing, rather than two different things. I'm going to call tomorrow afternoon and find out if they got any new stock on the truck. Then if they did get stock on the truck between Tues/Wed, I will call again on Friday, see if they got stock on that truck between Thurs/Fri, assuming they did get stock on that truck, then it's probably a safe assumption that they'll get stock next week on Tuesday/Thursday nights, to be available Wed/Fri mornings. So would just need to campout on the right night. I can sort of wait it out for one since the board I want to put it in, ROG Crosshair VII Dark Hero X570 hasn't been "released" yet (at least in the US) and ASUS has given zero info about its release, so I suspect it might not be available for a while.  0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter OneLuckyWolf ✭ November 11 I really wish MC did an EVGA-style queue. When stock comes in, you get a notice, you have 8 hours to buy the card or it continues down the queue. That's a disgusting move in normal times, in a pandemic, its despicable and you guys should be ashamed of yourselves.  I'm someone who's probably pretty conservative with my exposure risks due to immuno-suppressed family members.  I'm very cautious about where I'll go out and the practices I observe when I do.  However...I find this post hysterical.  It's a CPU.  It's not a "necessity" for living.  Yes, there's a pandemic, so if you are concerned, buy it online when it's available or wait until this initial limited availability rush passes.  It's been how many days since launch?  For all we know, these could be approaching regular inventory status in a week or two.   You also gloss over the fact that these stores are trying to operate as best they can in a pandemic.  Having people wait in line to process orders...where would you have them wait?  They need to do it quickly and orderly.  Keep everyone outside?  Then people would complain if there was inclement weather.  I know the store in my area limits the number of people in store, but those inside, they ask to respect social distancing practices and have signs reminding people over this, throughout the store.  Sure, some other people are arseholes and have no basic human decency and refuse to take basic safety precautions, but that's not MC's fault, nor do I expect one of their employees to be responsible for confronting these people to address it.  You have to decide the level of risk and personal responsibility you are going to take by going there.   Lastly, MC's CPU/Mobo combo deals have always been practically a loss leader for them.  I have no idea if they actually do make any profit on them once the discounts apply, but even at full price, there's not a LOT of profit in these.  Accessories have always been where the money is at in electronics items and requiring in person purchases, to increase the odds that you'll purchase something else you need while there, is just the cost of us being able to source these products locally with ease.  Later on, I'm sure MC will offer the most competitive pricing once inventory improves and I can't really fault them for implementing basic business principles so they can continue to exist as a brick and mortar experience.   I'm waiting for the Cincinnati area store to hopefully get some 5800/5900's in stock for a build I'm helping a friend out with, although I'm seriously tempted to replace my 3700x that I just picked up five months ago with the performance gains we're seeing.  I'll be waiting for things to settle down a bit though, probably closer to Christmas or just after, depending on how it all pans out.   1 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter BlueHawk0172 ✭ November 12 bad_with_money said: @Eric2 I just got to the Rockville MC. If your computer has displayed a blue (or black) screen of death, suddenly rebooted or shut down then this program might help you find the root cause of the problem and a solution.  Whenever a computer suddenly reboots without displaying any notice or blue (or black) screen of death, the first thing that is often thought about is a hardware failure. In reality, on Windows a lot of system crashes are caused by malfunctioning device drivers and kernel modules. In case of a kernel error, many computers do not show a blue or black screen unless they are configured for this. Instead these systems suddenly reboot without any notice.  This program will analyze your crash dumps with the single click of a button. It will tell you what drivers are likely to be responsible for crashing your computer. It will report a conclusion which offers suggestions on how to proceed in any situation while the analysis report will display internet links which will help you further troubleshoot any detected problems.  To obtain technical support visit www.resplendence.com/support Click here to check if you have the latest version or if an update is available.  Just click the Analyze button for a comprehensible report ... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Home Edition Notice -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This version of WhoCrashed is free for use at home only. Click on the links below to search with Google for updates for these drivers:  nvlddmkm.sys (NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 451.67 , NVIDIA Corporation) If no updates for these drivers are available, try searching with Google on the names of these drivers in combination with the errors that have been reported for these drivers. Include the brand and model name of your computer as well in the query. This often yields interesting results from discussions on the web by users who have been experiencing similar problems. Read the topic general suggestions for troubleshooting system crashes for more information.  Note that it's not always possible to state with certainty whether a reported driver is responsible for crashing your system or that the root cause is in another module. Nonetheless it's suggested you look for updates for the products that these drivers belong to and regularly visit Windows update or enable automatic updates for Windows. In case a piece of malfunctioning hardware is causing trouble, a search with Google on the bug check errors together with the model name and brand of your computer may help you investigate this further.  0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Comments TSMikeW admin August 2 Greetings, System is unstable, and it's likely due to the RAM. Any help would be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance!  0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Best Answer AlexS admin September 3 edited September 3 Accepted Answer While some motherboard manufacturers' UEFI/BIOS can enable the RGB LED lighting to determine temperature (by color) after POST, I'm not seeing a huge variety of them that would allow that.  Doing some research, the older MAXIMUS VIII HERO did allow a setting to show temperatures on the QCODE LCD after post.  It's quite possible they may have retained this feature on their current generation mobos. I know some AIO Coolers have this capability to show it directly on the cooling block's LED such as the NZXT Z63 and Z73, however these coolers generally cost more than most motherboard.   5 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Answers TSTonyV admin September 2 Based on doing some research online, the best information I found was that some people have created small programs that allow you to do this, but I can't find anything about this being a specific feature on any particular board.  0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter TSMikeW admin September 3 Greetings @Crakkdego ASUS X570 Chrosshair VIII Hero: https://www.microcenter.com/product/608549/asus-x570-rog-crosshair-viii-hero-(wi-fi)-amd-am4-atx-motherboard It will be an option you'll set in the BIOS to show the QCode on POST and then the temperature thereafter. 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Sign In or Register to comment. As far as we are aware the manager will arrive sometime between 6 and 7am. They will hand out vouchers to the line so that you don't have to stay until they open like the other releases. I believe most stores have it be until 3pm when you can redeem but I haven't been here for a release before and I don't know more than the fact that they will most likely hand out vouchers. They are no longer needed to be present until check-in times at 4am and 7am on launch day. The problem with this is MC sale of the CPUs are based off of a first come first serve basis. Despite that people were able to come and go as the please without having to physically wait in line, which is typically part of the FCFS process for items with limited availability. This is pretty unfair to the people who are willing to wait in line for however long in order to purchase the product. This system would have been better suited for a raffle giving people the equal opportunity of securing a CPU while saving many time and effort. I understand that this maybe a smarter move in light of COVID-19 however, I feel that MC should be doing more to organize these actual releases rather than leaving it up to the consumers waiting outside. I believe the system was inspired by the one started during the 30 series GPU releases as shown in BitWit's video on youtube, however that system was much more rigid with 30 minute check-in times and required potential buyers to be in queue for much longer times than not as FCFS queues should be. Whether or not the 100 or so people who've already signed up would've been willing to wait when they arrived until doors open, doesn't change the fact that the situation is what it is right now, that there is no real queue and that the list could have easily been manipulated preventing people who were more willing to wait to purchase their item from doing so. TLDR: MC Tustin is getting run by a bunch of people who don't know how a first come first serve queue works. As someone whos camped out over the years for items with limited availability such as shoes, clothing, collectables, etc. This is pretty bullshit. 1 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter bbnn ✭ November 5 Xkix said: @bbnn doesn’t look like it but everyone is really chill and friendly here we know the order  nice you guys stay safe AARGH said: CrashAegis said: AARGH said: PrestonYoungsley said: Whats breakdown of chips wanted out of the 22 @ fairfax, I'll probably just roll up in the AM, all i want is a measly 5600x #   Type 08 5950 13 5900 01 5800 01 5600 and 3 for 3080 cards just in case Any clue if the 5950 folks are opting for that card or bust?  Probably take an hour to get there and I'd hate to be just edged out if they opt 5900 instead At least 5 are, we are at 26 people in line as of last check in..   11 - 5950 16 - 5900 02 - 5800 01 - 5600 04 - Also interested in 3080's damn people still buying 3080s 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter CrashAegis ✭ November 5 Sheepykin said: radioToys said: Sheepykin said: 5 people in line at the Rockville location with everyone on a list and want 5900x. Probably no need to rush out for others interested, probably show up closer to 4 or 5am. I was informed that the store staff won't even start handing out vouchers until 6-7am depending on when they arrive. I will only post updates every 5 people who show up until closer to 5am. So if you don't see my post any updates then expect around the number I last posted. So it could be 5-9 people for a while. Do you have any idea how the vouchers will work at Rockville? Hoping for a 5800x, but I've got a commitment right when they open. I could swing by earlier for a voucher if I'm able to come back a bit later. This store did change their hours starting last Sunday, so they are open from 9am instead of the 10am that they used to open. From what I am aware of the 5600x and 5800x there is no rush. The only CPU that will be very limited will be the 5900x, which is to be expected. So I would say see if you can swing by around 6:30am to get a spot for the voucher. What would be the advantages or benefits to gain from switching to a gaming monitor? Also with ps4 pro maxing out at 60Hz would a monitor with more than 60Hz be wasted money? 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Comments TSMichaelB admin April 28 The biggest advantage is less input lag/latency. LCD TV's were notorious for having awful input lag when compared to older CRT's & computer monitors. Luckily most modern TV's include Game Modes designed to reduce input lag substantially. RTing's has a fantastic article written up to explain input lag, as well as some benchmarks comparing different input lag between TV's & monitors: https://www.rtings.com/tv/tests/inputs/input-lag.  As for using a higher refresh rate monitor, there wouldn't be a benefit (yet). With the rumors of the PS5 supporting higher refresh rate gaming, it might come in handy in the future, especially if you find yourself jumping into PC gaming later on. 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Sign In or Register to comment. The Corsair RGB Fan Hub (the one pictured) will power the RGB For your Corsair RGB Fans.  It will not allow you to control the RGB however, it just defaults them to the default RGB setting on the Fan (Rainbow Cycle usually).  You can however, connect the RGB Fan Hub to either the Lightning Node PRO or the Commander PRO.  These will connect to the RGB Fan HUB and then connect to a USB 2.0 header on your motherboard.   In short, to make it controllable, you WILL need to connect it to the Lightning Node PRO or Commander PRO.   0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Ionmaster987 ✭ September 7 edited September 7 Darn, would i at-least be able to control their speed through the hub? Or no? If so, i might as-well just get a Commander Pro, since it has enough slots to control the fans the AIO comes with. In the future, might want a lighting node pro to be able to have the RGB be seperate for other fans.. So, now a question: do you think that AIO can fit inside a Carbide Series Spec01?  https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/529832591134556162/752558364168552489/unknown.png This is my case, it looks like it'll fit at the top if the tank is towards the front.. Wait hang on, i just looked, apparently the one i've been talking about is the iCUE H100I RGB PRO XT Liquid Cooler, the Platinum's a bit too expensive, but it appears it doesn't even have rgb fans, so i might not even need a commander.. You do NOT need the Lighting Node Pro or Commander Pro to change the actual fan speeds. The difference between the two coolers is that the H100i RGB PRO XT does not have RGB fans, while the H100i platinum does. Both of them have RGB on the pump.  Based on Cosair's spec sheet for your case it can only support a 120mm radiator, not a 240mm.  0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Ionmaster987 ✭ September 7 TSTonyV said: The fan speed is controllable by your motherboard/monitoring software, based on your CPU temperature. The problem with the Spec-01 is that if you install a top-mounted radiator and fans they will come down far enough that they'll cover the tops of the RAM slots as well as the 8-pin CPU power on the top-left corner, and any other things like fan headers across the top. If your RAM or anything else plugged in across the top is too tall, you won't be able to properly install the cooler.  0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Ionmaster987 ✭ September 7 So, then i'd need a new case.. In addition to our extended Black Friday Sale, we will also be keeping a Black Friday Price Promise!  More details on this to come in the next post.  Black Friday Price Promise My Favorite Picks of the Sale! 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Comments TSPhillipT admin November 2 edited November 2 Black Friday Price Promise Our Black Friday Price Promise ensures you that you have the lowest price on items listed in our Black Friday promotions.  If the purchase price for your item goes lower during our extended Black Friday period, you can contact us via Text or Chat, and we can get that item price matched!  You can text your local Micro Center store to begin the Black Friday Price Promise process via text.  To chat, please visit our Solutions Center and a prompt to begin a chat will be in the bottom right.  You may need to disable your adblocker if you do not see that prompt in the bottom right.   Black Friday Price Promise: Micro Center customers that purchase a qualifying item (products listed in our Black Friday promotions) between 11/02/20 – 11/30/20 and if the price of the qualifying item goes lower than your purchase price before November 30, 2020, we will refund you the difference between your purchase price and the lower price. Refunds must take place before 01/15/2021. Excludes products purchased with coupons, bundles, services and price errors. All refunds will be based upon your original payment method. 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter TSPhillipT admin November 2 edited November 3 Here are some of my favorite picks from our current Black Friday Sale!  I think $299.99 for an i9 9900k is a fantastic price for the power the 9900k has.  Not too familiar with building a PC and only want one to plug in and play, our PowerSpec G228 is an excellent start for a gaming PC with the ability to upgrade with newer parts in the future!  Also, the iPad 8 for $279.99 is perfect for anyone needing a tablet, and you can pair that with the Apple Airpod Pros at $199.99.  I love my Airpod Pros and use them every day; both the Active Noise Cancelling and Transparency modes are amazing for multiple situations.  If you are in need of a good laptop for everyday use, I highly recommend the Acer Aspire 3, with a 10th Gen Processor, it is a great modern laptop at $499.99   Check out all of our Black Friday Sales here! 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter TSPhillipT admin November 2 Which sales look interesting to you?  You can comment on this thread for any questions you have regarding Black Friday!  I would love to see what items you may be getting on Black Friday; post them here, so I know and maybe get it myself!  1 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter BlazerBuddy ✭ November 2 edited November 4 I might grab me an iPad 8 for my dad.
