As part of our early start to Black Friday deals, we have also extended the return period for products purchased during that time. Does the Special Holiday return period override this and I have until 1/15 to return the motherboard and processor I purchased last week? 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter LandShark admin November 20 Yes, our holiday returns extension would apply to motherboards.  All products purchased between 11/02/20 - 12/24/20 will be eligible for return until 1/15/21 Exception: Microsoft has imposed a strict 15 day return policy on all Microsoft Surface tablets and laptops. admin April 20 @JADO have you attempted to manually add them by going to Configure > Slots > Add? You should be able to leave the GPU value at -1. From there, add a slot for each potential GPU connected to the system, then save. They should reappear. If that doesn't work, you may be missing the GPUs.txt file in your [email protected] Client AppData directory. If that file is missing, visit this page, select all, save it into a notepad text file named GPUs.txt and place it in the %AppData%\FAHClient directory (Windows + R to open Run prompt, type that directory in for quick access). GPUs.txt page: https://apps.foldingathome.org/GPUs.txt Hopefully this works, if not, let me know. I'll try to troubleshoot more with you. 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter JADO ✭ April 20 edited April 20 Thanks for the help.  I am pretty knowledgeable on this stuff and at this point I am guessing it a Windows issue....but, I have no way to know.  I have tried to add them manually but since FAH sees no GPU's the add disappears as soon as I exit and go back to the settings sheet.  I have also looked at the GPUs.txt file and it is where it is supposed to be  and again everything worked correctly for over 2 weeks.  The cards have two bios's on them. You can select them with a switch.  one was modified for crypto mining the other is stock..  I was using the stock bios and everything worked fine.  I switched to crypto bios (to see if I could improve speed) and everything still worked but it was not stable.  So, I switched back to standard bios which had been working and after the switch back Folding stopped finding the cards.  Again, they show up in device manager and it reports they are working normally.  When it stopped was when I started uninstalling and installing card drivers and FAH in different combinations but have not been able to get them to reconnect.. 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter JADO ✭ April 20 Thanks for helping.  I installed 7.6.9 today and I was able to manually add the GPU's.  Problem seems to be solved for now.  Thanks again. 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter TSMichaelB admin April 20 Interesting that it only started after swapping to and from the VBIOS using the physical toggle switch. When you nuked the GPU drivers, did you use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller)? Just wanting to make sure every registry entry tied to those drivers were removed prior to reinstallation. Can you provide the name of the exact model of RX 580 you're using? I'll see if I have any lying around that I can try to replicate the issue with.  0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter JADO ✭ April 20 edited April 20 Actually, I don't think the VBIOS had anything to do with it.  I think it related to the latest FAH updates.. but again I am not sure.  I did use DDU (full discosure..I did not run it in Safe Mode) then I used Regedit and deleted all remnants of FAH I could find.  Still don't know why it would not find the cards after that  but after installing 7.6.9 today I was able to find and add them manually.  With 6 RX580s and a i5 9600K 6 core processor should I have any problems running all 6 cards?  Can I also safely use some of 6 cpu cores in addition to the GPU's?  Adding cards manually, FAH also added my Intel 630 motherboard graphics  GPU for processing.  I removed it because I figured that would just cause problems.  I guess what I am asking is with the hardware I have what do thin the optimal folding configuration for folding should be here?  Thanks  0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter TSMichaelB admin April 20 Glad to hear the GPU's are recognized now. As for the hardware configuration, [email protected] recommends leaving one processing core per GPU. Since your 9600k has exactly 6 cores, I wouldn't recommend folding on the CPU at all as it will be of very little gain and may be detrimental to your GPU's scores, which are weighted far more heavily in terms of value. I don't see any issue running the Intel iGPU as it simply uses 2MB of cache and some spare system memory, so it shouldn't impact your stability at all. It might not score all that well, but it shouldn't hurt anything either.  0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter JADO ✭ April 20 My thoughts exactly.  Thank you for confirming.  Appreciate the help. 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter TSMichaelB admin April 20 My pleasure. A.  In-store pickup is available. Q.  If I have an in-store pickup order, do I still have to get on the wait list? A.  Yes, you will still have to get on the wait list to enter the store, but your items once confirmed, will be reserved for you. Q.  How do I get on the wait list? A.  Upon arriving to the store, give your name and number to the greeter outside.  You will be asked to wait in your car and you will receive a text when it's time to enter.  Please plan for additional time to enter.  We recommend arriving at least one hour before closing to ensure entry.  The store does reserve the right to close the waitlist early depending on the volume of visitors awaiting entry. Q.  Can I be added to the wait list via text? A.  We cannot add a visitor to the wait list in advance.  Please refer to the answer above on how to be added to the wait list.  Q.  Why have I not received my confirmation email yet?  Is my order ready for pickup? A.  Since the beginning of the pandemic, our stores have received an influx of in-store reservation requests.  While our teams are doing their very best to fulfill all requests, the speed we normally operate at is limited as we have to exercise the social distancing standards as set by the CDC and State of your local Micro Center.  If you need an item, it may be optimal for you to stop by, enter the wait list, and when texted to come in, choose your items and make your purchase.  We again apologize for any inconvenience. Q.  Can I use my Micro Center Insider Account Credit Card to place a hold for reservation? A.  Unfortunately, the MC insider Account Credit Card is not available for use on the website at this time, so you'll have to use a different card to place the reservation.  When you arrive at the store, you can use your MC Insider Account Credit Card to complete the purchase. Q.  Why can't I reserve a specific item? A.  Some items are limited to first come, first serve. Q.  Can I make an order over the phone for in-store pickup? A.  Since we are unable to accept payment information over the phone, we cannot place orders for in-store reservations at the time being as it requires a credit card. Q.  Can I change my shipped order to an in-store pickup? A.  Once a reservation is placed, you have 3 days to pick it up.  If not, it goes back to the shelf.  You can place another reservation if you are unable to pick up within 3 days. Q.  Can I have someone else pick up my in-store reservation for me? A.  Someone else can pick up your order, as long as they are paying with their own credit card that matches their own identification.   Q.  "But I paid for the in-store reservation online!" A.  This is only an authorization.  Full payment must be completed at the store. Q.  I need an in-store reservation to be canceled.  How can I do this? A.  Your in-store reservation will be automatically cancelled in 3 days from Ready confirmation if not picked up within that time frame. Q.  How do I check the status of my in-store reservation? A.  Please text your local Micro Center location with your reservation # and we will try to get your order status as soon as possible. 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter AlexS admin May 4 edited October 8 Curbside Pickup Q.  Is Curbside pickup available? The Madison Heights location was temporarily closed due to a confirmed case of COVID19.  This information can be found here for future reference as well as any other Recent Confirmed Cases of COVID19 at Micro Center locations.  We have since completed the deep cleaning and the store is sanitized and open for customers.  On a daily basis, our store employees have been extremely diligent in cleaning and sanitizing practices to help keep everyone safe. Currently, there are so many powerful, huge clusters supporting FAH that people shouldn't feel frustration, angst or guilt about any contribution they are making.  During the surge, Anonymous went from 13MPPD to 10BPPD (mostly clusters).  Any contribution is enough. I have tried calling the store but I couldn't get through. I unfortunately had to relocate to parents house in southern illinois because of shelter in place order. I read on the microcenter online forums that I could talk to management in order to an extension to either return or exchange my device. Could I please get an extension to do this? I have all the items that came with the ipad pro, the box and the receipt. Everything is in perfect condition, I bought the ipad on March 26 without knowing there was a new iPad Pro. It took me a while to save up for purchase so I really want to make sure I get the right one. I haven't heard a response back from my store and it's a very long drive. Sadly, I had to turn one of my servers off.  Apartment was getting too hot to operate it and my electric bill went up $50 on that machine alone from the power draw of all the fans in it and the heat it produced.  The saddest part was the amount of heat coming off the RAM, which has its own cooling fans.  I have nine fans in the case and it wasn't enough.  Repasted the CPU's, made sure the laminar airflow through the case was functioning properly and still couldn't keep it cool enough.  It's a Lenovo C20x, both Xeon processors and 48 GB of RAM in 12 slots.  My normal electrical before FAH was $80 to $90.  This month was $197.  This one C20x was drawing $50 a month.  If I still have it this winter I will turn it back on to heat my apartment again.  Kirito 3 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter cine_chris Powder Springs, GA ✭✭✭ July 14 edited July 14 Perhaps this isn`t appropriate for the MC forum, but I thought it was interesting? I picked up 3700x Ryzen from Microcenter. It also has 15 days return warranty and would be nice if microcenter provides extended returns during holidays as I will get to PC building only after BF and gathering all necessary components.  0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter LandShark admin November 16 @RobH I can confirm that we do have an extended holiday return period. I updated my bios using the msi website, with m-flash. The weird thing is, is that the latest BIOS version build is called 7A34v1OS(Beta version) and the build date says 2020-07-09. My bios UI is changed but now the build is called e7a34ams.10s and the build date says 07-02-20. They are a NY based and have a very solid reputation. They are usually very good about cutting online preorders the second their guaranteed amount of items is reached. 1 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter VitorVicente ✭ November 5 For the sake of everyone knowing, this is the situation at cambridge MA as of right now (03h39am), there are 20+ people waiting, mostly for the 5900, followed by 5950, and a handful for the others. I've been sitting here since 2h30pm, and I managed to talk to A LOT of associates, here is what I got: - Official info is they will have every CPU, confirmed tl me by the official MC twitter - Several associates mentioned NDAs, and considering that everyone everywhere else is super silent its likely cause AMD is likely keeping a tight leash - Unofficially Ive had several employees telling me they have a good amount of stock, and some even suggested that for lower tiers camping wont be needed - Everyone that let stuff slip was super positive about it, and everyone else kept super quiet My advice is, if you want 5950X, you're likely out of luck. If you want 5900X get here NOW, if you want the others you can risk it until later. 1 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Sheepykin Maryland ✭ November 5 Rockville location is now at 15 people in line for the 5900x, 2 for 5800x, and 1 5600x. 1 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Cibello ✭ November 5 Sheepykin said: Rockville location is now at 15 people in line for the 5900x, 2 for 5800x, and 1 5600x. We've been using a customer-run list, first come first serve, check-ins every hour on the hour, if you miss a check-in you get sent to the end. Everyone is hanging out in cars, a couple people leave to grab food between check-ins. Everyone is being very civil. None of that "100 people reserved and don't have to camp out" crap. 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Sheepykin Maryland ✭ November 5 Wranglher said: anyone know if this BHPhoto preOrder legit? If they miss it then they notify you very quickly upon them opening, which will be in about 5 hours. The question then is WHEN they get their first batch. For the 5950x it is possible they don't get their shipment until later in the week when other stores get it sooner. 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter RocketStation ✭ November 5 Just got to Marietta, there’s about 20 in line. 0 · Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Joker4L ✭ November 5 RocketStation said: Just got to Marietta, there’s about 20 in line.
