How do you register the extended service agreement? I know with Apple products this is done automatically, but in checking Dell's support site, it still shows the laptop as only having the base one-year coverage. Any advice is appreciated. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Comments TS_JosephF admin January 3 Hello @saturnotaku What day did you purchase the Dell laptop? The ProSupport you purchase from us would register with Dell automatically, however, it can take a few days for this to be updated in their system. You can also verify the service tag on the laptop itself to make sure it matches the one on the receipt.  If it has already been a few days and it is still not showing the accurate warranty info, then go ahead and send me the reference number in a DM, I will be happy to help you. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook saturnotaku ✭ January 4 Hi Joseph, I received an email from Dell confirming that the ProSupport coverage for the laptop has been activated. I am wanting to add a graphics card that will allow me to use miracast. The computer is primarily used for work. Is there a graphics card you would recommend? 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Comments TSTDavey admin April 28 edited April 28 Hello @BullKitty and thanks for posting on the Microcenter Community Forum. Almost any graphic card can work with miracast. Now if your are planning to do some heavy video game streaming, than you'll need a graphic card to handle the video games not miracast. You could go with a GTX 1660 Ti or a RX 580 or a 2070. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook BullKitty ✭ April 29 Good morning @TSTDavey , Thank you for your response last night. I looked up the GPUs you recommended and they all seem to be gaming related. I am using my PC primarily for work, and don't really watch movies with it (sometimes I'll stream a ball game while I work) but I'm not looking for the robust capabilities of a gaming GPU. Listening to your advice I did more digging with the NVIDIA Quadro 600. I found great articles about using 2.4 Ghz wifi and another article guiding me through indicators to look for through various reports. All those systems were a go, but it still was not working. I contacted NVIDIA this morning, and LSS - NVIDIA does not support Miracast. I'd recommend changing your advice to NVIDIA GPUs will not Miracast. Does MicroCenter offer work-abled GPUs or are you focused on the gaming market? I don't know the ins and outs of computers which is why I'm seeking help. I'm looking for a GPU under $200 that will work with a Dell computer box and CPU. My apologies for sounding like a Richard in this email, but I am a little frustrated at your answer for not listening to my ask. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook HAMMERTIME ✭ April 29 Alright, what you needs depends on your work, but from what it sounds like, you could buy something like the GT 710. It is cheap, and fairly good. $69 https://www.bestbuy.com/site/pny-geforce-gt-710-2gb-pci-express-2-0-graphics-card-black/5092306.p?skuId=5092306 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook TSTDavey admin April 30 @BullKitty my apologies for the confusion. You had mentioned miracast and adding a graphic card, I wrongfully assumed you were needing the GPU for video games. I'm sorry I did not fully understand what you are trying to do. Yes I am finding out certain Nvidia cards no longer support Miracast with windows; although it used to be supported. For the DeLL T5600 which looking up the specs, it may have the Quadro K4000 GPU by Nvidia in it and it probably doesn't work with miracast; as to why you came to our forum for a legitimate answer from us. It seems that Intel integrated graphics seems to work best with miracast now. As of now Intel doesn't have single graphical processing unit, but they are coming out with a GPU later this year. You may have to look at the alternatives or programs that work similar to miracast that can work with your Dell and nvidia graphic cards. Mirror display software like Squirrels Airparrot, ApowerMirror or Microsoft's EasyCast all works similar to Miracast and works with nvidia. Another option to connect your Dell T5600 to your TV is using a VGA male to HDMI male adapter. You can hardwire your Dell to your TV, assuming you are wanting to show your Dell T5600 display on your TV. Let me know if this helps. Again I apologize for the confusion and frustration. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Categories 6.6K All Categories 999 The Blog 29 What's Trending 158 How to & Technical Guides 8 Computer Hardware 118 Software 3 Home Office 5 Networking Audio/Visual 2 Home Automation 15 3D Printers 7 Maker 14 PC Build Guides 77 Reviews & Buying Guides 25 Build Showcase 13 Contests 35 Past Contests 730 The Community 1.7K General Discussion 104 New Members 69 Consumer Tech 20 Prebuilt PCs and Laptops 72 Software 2 Audio/Visual 11 Networking & Security 1 Home Automation 2 Digital Photography 3 Content Creators 21 Hobby Boards & Projects 22 3D Printing 46 Retro Arcade/Gaming 78 All Other Tech 1.2K Store Information and Policy 48 Off Topic 5 Community Ideas & Feedback 110 Your Completed Builds 2.6K Build-Your-Own PC 1.6K Help Choosing Parts 218 Graphics Cards 158 CPUs, Memory, and Motherboards 61 Cases and Power Supplies 19 Air and Liquid Cooling 11 Monitors and Displays 28 Peripherals 6 All Other Parts 20 Featured Categories We love seeing what our customers build Submit photos and a description of your PC to our build showcase Submit Now Looking for a little inspiration? Do I need an appointment for this service? 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Comments TSTonyV admin May 2020 edited May 2020 Hello @Raj! Welcome to the Community.  It appears we don't have those batteries currently in stock at the St. Louis Park store, however, if you bring your laptop to the service desk they should be able to order a replacement. I'm not sure exactly what it would cost, laptop batteries can cost anywhere from $50-100+ depending on the specific computer and battery. I would expect this one to be $80-100 or so.  For the screen, we would have to order those parts from Dell as we don't carry them on the shelf. Labor charge for screen replacement is $99.99, plus the cost of the screen itself. Since we have to get the parts from Dell, I can't look up the cost unfortunately.  We are currently not taking appointments, it's all walk-in and drop off 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Raj ✭ May 2020 Thanks. I downloaded the specs for my laptop, nothing with the word "fan" in it. I called their support, person disconnected the call. I searched their tech support--no part number for a fan. The laptop is out of warranty by a couple weeks and Dell refuses to replace it. I hate taking apart laptops and only want to do it once--when I actually replace the fan. Anyone know how to find out the part number? I want to get the correct fan. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Comments TSTonyV admin July 2020 When you searched for Dell's part number, did you go to their website and try looking it up by the service tag? https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/partsforyourdell/index?~ck=mn I'd start there, if you haven't.  0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Ladybugf8 ✭ July 2020 That was the first thing I did. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook TSTonyV admin July 2020 If Dell won't provide the part information, I'm not sure there's a better way to figure out what fan is in a system than just Googling it, or opening up the computer and checking the part number on the unit itself. Our service desk could verify the correct parts with Dell if you were to bring it in to us for repair, but it sounds like you want to do it yourself.  I tried to find some information online but "Inspiron 3500" doesn't appear to be a model I can find information on, I found information for Latitude 3500 or Vostro 3500 instead. Are you sure this is an Inspiron model? Right click on your Start Button then go to Device Manager.  In Device Manager find the keyboard section and open the drop-down menu. Right-click any keyboards listed and select "uninstall device." When they're all gone, restart the computer and see if your keyboard is working again. Let me start with, I'm not that technical savvy. I have been working with a dual monitor setup and someone recently turned me on to the 49 inch Ultra Wide Monitors. My COVID related home setup is actually two (2) Vizio TV's which work fine. I am looking for the best value monitor for working pretty much exclusively, not gaming. It appears the Dell Ultra Sharp and the Samsung Odyssey are two of the best options, however also the most expensive. I'm at a point of impatience, so am looking to get something in place like today. I can get the Dell Ultra Sharp through my companies account for a very reasonable cost, however have to wait 2 to 3 weeks for arrival. One Micro Center has an open box deal on a Dell Ultra Sharp while the closer Micro Center has other models in stock that I think would be less costly and still give me the desired result. Like the AOC AG493UCX or the ASUS XG49VQ . I don't think I want to settle for a 43 inch curved monitor, however I am a bit intrigued by the price of the 43 In non-curved LED Monitors such as the Acer DM431K. at less than half the price of some of these others I have been curious if it is any good. Is the Open Box Model of the Dell Ultra Sharp worth the extra $100 - $300, plus an additional 1.50 hours in the car? The one thing I have figured out is ideally the monitor will have good software built in for managing the screens with multiple program windows open... and not many monitors do. There is also the case of the KVM switch which is not a critical component for me, however would be nice, just in case, if it happened to have one. but it is not a determining factor. I will be hooking the monitor up to my laptop: HP Spectre X360, if that is relevant. Thank you in advance for your help 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Comments LandShark admin February 11 Hello @CClark63 Welcome to the community! I was able to find a 49" a bit cheaper than the two you mentioned. The ASUS XG49VQ will offer you the 49" display you're looking for as well as the software paired with it to allow for easy multiscreen use. It offers a 3840 x 1080 resolution Whether or not this is worth the 1.5 hour trip in your car is something only you can decide. However, if you do decide to make the trip I would strongly recommend that you reserve the item before heading to the store. I'd make sure that you wait until you receive the email confirming that your reservation has been set aside for you! This monitor also allows you to split the monitor in half with two different inputs. If you're looking for a higher resolution option, the AOC AG493UCX does offer a 5120 x 1440 resolution. Here's our full selection of ultrawide monitors. If you have any other questions, please do let me know! I'd be happy to help! 1 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook CClark63 ✭ February 11 Thank You so much for the quick reply @LandShark I recall reading somewhere that the higher resolution would be better, especially when using it for "work" such as excel worksheets. does that sound correct? Do you have any first hand knowledge of working with any of these or other 49 inch monitors? To confirm, you agree that these will work (essentially) just as well as the Dell UltraSharp monitor? For Open Box Models, do they still operate the same, I imagine yes. In your opinion... if the higher resolution will make a difference which would lead me towards the AOC AG493UCX, is there a good enough value in going to the Dell U4919DW Ultrasharp for $106.00 more? Sorry for the back and forth... I'm just torn between the $800 model versus $1,000 versus $1,300 "on sale" for $1,100 due to open box condition. Again if the resolution will make a noticeable (not even significant) difference, then i think i should bit e the bullet and at least look at the higher end. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook LandShark admin February 11 Yeah, typically with larger monitors like these ultrawide monitors, a higher resolution allows for more pixels and higher quality screen space. However, it does come at a cost here. More pixels = more money. That being said, 24.5" 1080 monitors are still great quality and I wouldn't have a problem recommending them. Essentially these 49" monitors are two 24.5" monitors without a bezel in the middle. You will see a noticeable improvement in clarity when you move from 1080p to 1440p. Yes, these would work much in the same way that the Dell monitor would. I'm not as familiar with the AOC monitor, and it may not have the software features that the ASUS does but Windows 10 does allow you to snap individual windows to specific sides of the screen natively. I believe you're referring to the Dell U4919DW Open box in our Rockville store. If so, it looks like that is labeled as INCOMPLETE: DISPLAY UNIT, meaning that it was on display for a time in our store. It would only come with the power cable and the monitor. Since it was a display unit, you would be able to review it before purchase. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have, $1000 monitor is a fair investment. So I totally understand wanting to be sure about something before you make that purchase. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook CClark63 ✭ February 11 Thank You @LandShark . I may regret no spending the extra money, for the Dell, but I am going to get the AOC Monitor. I'm hopeful that if its not what I expect it can be returned. is that correct? 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook LandShark admin February 11 edited February 11 You're quite welcome! I can't imagine you'll have buyer's remorse here, AOC monitor does have a 4-year manufacturer warranty with it. Most monitors only come with a 3-year warranty. To me, this says that AOC believes their products will last! I can't imagine you'll regret your purchase! If, for some reason you do wish to return your new monitor or If you're unhappy with the AOC you're welcome to return it. Monitors do have a 30 day return period. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Categories 6.6K All Categories 999 The Blog 29 What's Trending 158 How to & Technical Guides 8 Computer Hardware 118 Software 3 Home Office 5 Networking Audio/Visual 2 Home Automation 15 3D Printers 7 Maker 14 PC Build Guides 77 Reviews & Buying Guides 25 Build Showcase 13 Contests 35 Past Contests 729 The Community 1.7K General Discussion 104 New Members 68 Consumer Tech 19 Prebuilt PCs and Laptops 72 Software 2 Audio/Visual 11 Networking & Security 1 Home Automation 2 Digital Photography 3 Content Creators 21 Hobby Boards & Projects 22 3D Printing 46 Retro Arcade/Gaming 78 All Other Tech 1.2K Store Information and Policy 48 Off Topic 5 Community Ideas & Feedback 110 Your Completed Builds 2.6K Build-Your-Own PC 1.6K Help Choosing Parts 218 Graphics Cards 158 CPUs, Memory, and Motherboards 61 Cases and Power Supplies 19 Air and Liquid Cooling 11 Monitors and Displays 28 Peripherals 6 All Other Parts 20 Featured Categories We love seeing what our customers build Submit photos and a description of your PC to our build showcase Submit Now Looking for a little inspiration? Neither goes away.  Suggestions to try? 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Comments TSTonyV admin May 2020 Hello @pandora123! Welcome to the Community.  Is the battery removable from the bottom of the computer? If you can remove the battery without having to actually open up the  laptop, I would try removing the battery, unplugging the charger then holding down the power button for 30 seconds. After that reattach the battery and try turning it back on and see if anything changes.  If you can do that, try the same process just without removing the battery, and see if it will make it through automatic repair. If it makes it through automatic repair and gives you any recovery options, try going navigating through some like a system restore and see if that helps at all.  0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Pandora123 ✭ May 2020 Cant remove battery without opening case.  I tried turning off, waiting 30 sec and trying to turn on three times.  Still sticks either on dell or auto repair screen. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook TSMikeW admin May 2020 The indicators from what the computer sounds like it's doing. The GPU doesn't need to be super expensive. Because all I do with this machine is to live stream to YouTube a single 30-minute meditation music video that plays over and over. I currently have a Dell Optiplex 990 SFF. But this machine keeps failing as the hardware is not good enough. So, anyways. Does anyone know what compatible GPU I can purchase for this computer in the link so that it's not super expensive but also is sufficient enough for video encoding so that my Live Stream on YouTube wouldn't get disconnected all of a sudden for encoder issues? Also, do I need to update bios or anything else if I want to put in a GPU inside a system? I am just asking in general. Because I have never done this before.
