It has an Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD, with an NVIDIA GT730 graphics card. If I could use some of the stuff I have in this PC to offset the costs that would be ideal. I would be playing FPS, such as COD and the new Battlefield 6, along with sports games (football, soccer, baseball). I would like to keep the budget around $1,000 if possible. Thank you, Patrick 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Comments TSTDavey admin March 7 Hello @Pacman85 and thanks for posting on the Microcenter Community Forum. The Dell Inspiron wasn't designed to be a Gaming PC obviously as to why you want to convert it. You'll basically will have to rebuild the Dell System and with installation from us, including parts; you're looking at $1100-$1300 to rebuilt that Dell. Its not worth rebuilding a pc. Its better to just invest in a pre-built system that already has the components for gaming. What Microcenter store are you near and we can give you a link to look at some systems. They may run you anywhere from $790 to $1000 for a prebuilt pc. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Pacman85 ✭ March 8 I am in South Carolina. TN panels have very low response times which makes them good for competitive gaming environments. IPS panels are known for having better color accuracy, contrast ratio and viewing angles compared to TN panels, i.e. "better picture quality." Modern IPS panels are now pretty close to their TN counterparts in terms of response times, but they do typically still fall just a little bit behind. I've used the S2719DGF and it was a good monitor, and I'm currently using an LG27GL850 which is an IPS monitor, and I think you'll be happy regardless of which one you choose. That Acer and Dell both advertise a 1ms response time and you shouldn't notice any difference between the two, but this particular Dell monitor is pretty good in terms of color accuracy for a TN panel. So between these two it's really a question of: do you want to spend the extra money on a monitor with slightly better color accuracy? I think you'd be happy either way.  0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Categories 6.7K All Categories 1K The Blog 27 What's Trending 166 How to & Technical Guides 11 Computer Hardware 119 Software 3 Home Office 6 Networking Audio/Visual 2 Home Automation 15 3D Printers 10 Maker 15 PC Build Guides 88 Reviews & Buying Guides 30 Build Showcase 13 Contests 35 Past Contests 843 The Community 1.7K General Discussion 105 New Members 90 Consumer Tech 28 Prebuilt PCs and Laptops 75 Software 2 Audio/Visual 12 Networking & Security 1 Home Automation 2 Digital Photography 3 Content Creators 21 Hobby Boards & Projects 24 3D Printing 50 Retro Arcade/Gaming 80 All Other Tech 1.2K Store Information and Policy 50 Off Topic 5 Community Ideas & Feedback 111 Your Completed Builds 2.6K Build-Your-Own PC 1.7K Help Choosing Parts 220 Graphics Cards 162 CPUs, Memory, and Motherboards 61 Cases and Power Supplies 19 Air and Liquid Cooling 13 Monitors and Displays 29 Peripherals 9 All Other Parts 21 Featured Categories We love seeing what our customers build Submit photos and a description of your PC to our build showcase Submit Now Looking for a little inspiration? Daniel_01 ✭ December 2020 edited June 3 in Peripherals I've narrowed my choice down to the Dell S2721dgf, The odyssey G7, and the Asus Tuf VG27aql1a. What would be the best to go with??? I keep going back forth. I have also heard mixed things about the G7, and hardly anything about the VG27aql1a. Any help would be great! 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Comments TS_EmileC admin December 2020 Hey Daniel_01! Ideally, they are all great choices. I've heard really good things regarding the Asus Tuf monitor. I actually bought it for a family member for Christmas this year for their PS5! With the support of both G-Sync and FreeSync, any AMD or Nvidia GPU would perform outstanding. The Samsung G7 has had it's issues with the backlight flickering when having the VRR enabled since it's release and for the cost the HDR was less than expected so I wouldn't go for the G7 just yet. If it were me, I would choose between the Dell and Asus model as they are almost identical in terms of price (You could get two for the price of one g7)  and performance. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook LandShark admin December 2020 @Daniel_01 I'd agree with @TS_EmileC and his recommendations. I currently own the ASUS VG27AQ 27" WQHD 165Hz and Dell S2716DG 27" WQHD 144Hz which are very similar to the models you've listed. I'd recommend the ASUS over the dell if you're system can actually put out above 144 FPS. ELMB Sync really makes a difference! Otherwise, they are very similar in performance and it will come down to personal preference as they are two different panels and will reproduce colors slightly differently. Hope this helps! I run an AMD Ryzen 5 3600X with a RTX 2070 Mini. I use my PC for general productivity work and gaming. The monitor I currently have is the HP - 27f 27" IPS LED FHD FreeSync 75hz. I wanted to upgrade to a better gaming monitor and I figured with the Black Friday prices, this would be a great time. However, I’m not exactly sure what to get, or what my computer can handle. My main questions are 1440p or 1080p? What screen size is best with either of those that it’s still running at a high refresh rate? I saw Best Buy has the Dell S3220DGF which is 1440p and 32 inches. However, I’ve heard once you hit 32 inches, you might want better than 1440p. Also, will running at 1440p reduce refresh rate to the point that it’s not worth it? Or is my hardware good enough? Or would it be better to stick to 27 inches at 1440p? Another Best Buy option is the Samsung CRG5. It’s 1080p at 27 inches but 240hz refresh rate. Would be PC be able to reach numbers like that? At Microcenter, I've had two recommended to me. Dell S2719DGF 27" WQHD and HP X27i I’ve done a ton of research but found a lot of conflicting information and I wasn’t sure what would work best with what I already have. Thanks. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Comments LandShark admin November 2020 Hey @Capcityff3531 Welcome to the community! Personal recommendation is that if you're choosing a 27in monitor, I'd recommend 1440p. If you can, I'd also go with 144hz. You might not be able to hit 144hz in all games at max settings, but if you can get 100+ fps it's a much more enjoyable experience. The way I see it if you're going to be buying a new display, buy the best that you can within your budget. You might upgrade your PC hardware in the future but monitors typically last a bit longer than PC hardware.  Hope this recommendation helps! 😊 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Capcityff3531 ✭ November 2020 Thanks for the advice.  Any recommendations on a specific monitor?  An employee at Microcenter recommended the HP X27i but I didn't see any in stock.  His selling point was the IPS panel.  I'm open to buying from anywhere.  Didn't want to spend more than $300 if possible. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook LandShark admin November 2020 Which of our locations are you shopping in? Difficult varies by the model but it's typically a pretty quick process and the keyboards on basic Inspiron models are generally cheap. Stop in with the laptop and we can get a keyboard on order. You can use an external USB keyboard in the meantime. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Super20 ✭ June 2020 If I bought it in late March, wouldn't it still be under warranty?  Do I need an appointment? 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook TSTonyV admin June 2020 If it was a new-in-box laptop it come with a 1-year warranty so it'd still be well within that time period.  If it was refurbished, those come with 90-day warranties, so depending on exactly what you mean by late March we'd have to check the exact date.  0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Categories 6.7K All Categories 1K The Blog 27 What's Trending 166 How to & Technical Guides 11 Computer Hardware 119 Software 3 Home Office 6 Networking Audio/Visual 2 Home Automation 15 3D Printers 10 Maker 15 PC Build Guides 88 Reviews & Buying Guides 30 Build Showcase 13 Contests 35 Past Contests 840 The Community 1.7K General Discussion 104 New Members 89 Consumer Tech 28 Prebuilt PCs and Laptops 75 Software 2 Audio/Visual 12 Networking & Security 1 Home Automation 2 Digital Photography 3 Content Creators 21 Hobby Boards & Projects 24 3D Printing 49 Retro Arcade/Gaming 80 All Other Tech 1.2K Store Information and Policy 50 Off Topic 5 Community Ideas & Feedback 111 Your Completed Builds 2.6K Build-Your-Own PC 1.7K Help Choosing Parts 220 Graphics Cards 162 CPUs, Memory, and Motherboards 61 Cases and Power Supplies 19 Air and Liquid Cooling 13 Monitors and Displays 29 Peripherals 9 All Other Parts 21 Featured Categories We love seeing what our customers build Submit photos and a description of your PC to our build showcase Submit Now Looking for a little inspiration? For a Dell, those systems could function with an aftermarket LCD screen that is designed for the Inspiron 3593. The Dell option I linked would work fine, it is not specific to Dell computers and it does look like it is available for shipping. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook DCC ✭ April 2020 TY! 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Categories 6.7K All Categories 1K The Blog 27 What's Trending 166 How to & Technical Guides 11 Computer Hardware 119 Software 3 Home Office 6 Networking Audio/Visual 2 Home Automation 15 3D Printers 10 Maker 15 PC Build Guides 88 Reviews & Buying Guides 30 Build Showcase 13 Contests 35 Past Contests 841 The Community 1.7K General Discussion 104 New Members 89 Consumer Tech 28 Prebuilt PCs and Laptops 75 Software 2 Audio/Visual 12 Networking & Security 1 Home Automation 2 Digital Photography 3 Content Creators 21 Hobby Boards & Projects 24 3D Printing 49 Retro Arcade/Gaming 80 All Other Tech 1.2K Store Information and Policy 50 Off Topic 5 Community Ideas & Feedback 111 Your Completed Builds 2.6K Build-Your-Own PC 1.7K Help Choosing Parts 220 Graphics Cards 162 CPUs, Memory, and Motherboards 61 Cases and Power Supplies 19 Air and Liquid Cooling 13 Monitors and Displays 29 Peripherals 9 All Other Parts 21 Featured Categories We love seeing what our customers build Submit photos and a description of your PC to our build showcase Submit Now Looking for a little inspiration? How is the best way to update my system? Can I just get a new box and still use my monitors? What is my best option. I run a small real estate business off of it. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Answers TSTonyV admin June 2020 Yes, you can re-use your monitors if you were to get a new computer.  As for your Alienware, do you have the model number or do you know the specs for the system? Even if Windows 10 isn't officially supported by Dell on it, you may still be able to install it and have it work, there could just be potential compatibility issues.
