I am not into gaming but need a high performance desktop computer with hyper-v to run some linux applications under VM. I need at-least 10+ cores of CPU juice. So I selected AMD 9 5950X CPU but I am not sure about other parts. I would appreciate some help if any of you pros can look at this build and provide your feedback. My budget is ~2k. I do not need GPU/monitor/mice/keyboards and all those other jazz etc. Thank you in advance. https://www.microcenter.com/site/content/custom-pc-builder-amd.aspx?load=010b80e7-cdf1-4c24-8925-c3e8090fc14f Thank you! 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Comments TS_JosephF admin May 16 https://community.microcenter.com/discussion/8556/amd-ryzen-9-5950x-build Hello @Mr__Wolf__ Welcome to the Micro Center community! All of the parts you selected look like they will make a great Hyper-V Server. Here are a few suggestions I have: 1) You may want to consider getting another pair of the 16 GB RAM sticks you selected. Although 32 GB will likely do you just fine for now (depending on how many VMs you are running at once). Since you have a 16-core CPU, you could consider adding this pair as it would give you another pair of dual-channel memory, which can certainly improve the performance of the VMs. Especially if they are running a memory heavy application. Having 64 GB of RAM would allow you to allocate 4 GB of RAM per CPU core, as opposed to just 2 GB per core. 2) I noticed you also selected a 2.5" SATA SSD and not a 2nd M.2 SSD. Which is perfectly fine. It would be a matter of preference. If you plan on running your VMs on the 2.5" SSD, then you should consider installing a 2nd M.2 SSD instead. The board you selected has 2 M.2 slots. It would run the VMs quite a bit faster this way. Especially when it comes to the initial setup, boot times, starting up applications, etc. 3) The case you selected does not actually support a 240mm AIO. I switched the case to a Lian Li 205M. It is around the same price, and supports a 240mm AIO on the front and top of the case. https://www.microcenter.com/site/content/custom-pc-builder-amd.aspx?load=749a6333-874c-4884-966f-8fdee0a64f8f To keep it within your $2,000 budget, you do not have to add another pair of RAM right now. In the future if you wanted to upgrade or improve the performance of the server, then that would be where you want to start. Hope this helps! Let us know if you have any questions on this or need any other suggestions. 1 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Mr__Wolf__ ✭ May 17 edited May 17 Thank you. This was very helpful. I will go with second M.2 SSD. I'm okay with slow start up of the application or VM but once started I want it to run as fast as possible. There isn't much difference in price between 2.5 SATA SSD vs M.2 so that's a great suggestion. I am okay with 32GB of RAM for now but in future, yes, I will consider to add more RAM if I need it. I selected NZXT because they have great reviews but thanks for selecting an appropriate case. My main concern now is the motherboard and cooling since this computer will be working at-least 8-12 hours a day. The water cooling I have selected, is it good enough for this workhorse CPU? 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Ian admin May 17 https://community.microcenter.com/discussion/comment/32373#Comment_32373 Yes, the cooler you picked out would work well. 1 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Mr__Wolf__ ✭ May 19 edited May 19 How does one buy this and have it built without going to the store first? Any suggestions? Mostly gaming(ideally at 1440), light photo editing, home office tasks - but also trying to future proof a bit to ensure able to play new games a few years down the road. Thanks, 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Comments TSMichaelB admin December 2019 Greetings Rujellis. Board selection can be pretty tricky as it will depend on which features you will need as well as your personal preference for aesthetics. When going with a Ryzen 9, I'd highly recommend the X570 chipset as they tend to have better VRM cooling to allow the processor to maintain it's boost clocks without issue. The X570 chipset also offers the widest range of chipset features as well as PCIe 4.0 support, something that will become widely adopted in the next year or so. Does your $1000 budget only pertain to the GPU, motherboard and CPU? If so, the Ryzen 9 3900X currently is listed at $479.99, which leaves $520 to be split between the GPU and motherboard. For 1440p, the best price:performance is likely going to be the Radeon RX 5700 XT, which starts around $360 for the dual fan cards: https://www.microcenter.com/product/611002/powercolor-radeon-rx-5700-xt-dual-fan-8gb-gddr6-pcie-video-card. This leaves a total of $160 left for the motherboard selection ($180 if we count the $20 discount bundle). Here is a list of our boards from the $100-$200 price range: https://www.microcenter.com/search/search_results.aspx?Ntk=all&sortby=match&N=4294966996+4294818892+4294810816+39&myStore=false. You will need to determine which board looks best for your preferences, and which board has the features you require for your system. If you wanted to compromise on graphics performance, you can find the regular RX 5700's for $300, which is 20% cheaper and only performs around 10% slower on average: https://www.microcenter.com/product/608896/powercolor-radeon-rx-5700-single-fan-8gb-gddr6-pcie-video-card. That would allow you to move your motherboard budget up to around $240. Ultimately, the budget for your board will depend entirely on where you can compromise for the GPU. For 1440p, it really depends on which graphics settings you plan to use and which refresh rate you are aiming to hit. If you have any further questions, do let me know. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Categories 6.5K All Categories 995 The Blog 32 What's Trending 156 How to & Technical Guides 8 Computer Hardware 118 Software 3 Home Office 5 Networking Audio/Visual 2 Home Automation 15 3D Printers 5 Maker 14 PC Build Guides 76 Reviews & Buying Guides 23 Build Showcase 11 Contests 33 Past Contests 707 The Community 1.7K General Discussion 102 New Members 64 Consumer Tech 16 Prebuilt PCs and Laptops 71 Software 2 Audio/Visual 11 Networking & Security 1 Home Automation 2 Digital Photography 3 Content Creators 21 Hobby Boards & Projects 22 3D Printing 46 Retro Arcade/Gaming 78 All Other Tech 1.2K Store Information and Policy 46 Off Topic 5 Community Ideas & Feedback 110 Your Completed Builds 2.6K Build-Your-Own PC 1.6K Help Choosing Parts 217 Graphics Cards 157 CPUs, Memory, and Motherboards 61 Cases and Power Supplies 19 Air and Liquid Cooling 11 Monitors and Displays 28 Peripherals 6 All Other Parts 18 Featured Categories We love seeing what our customers build Submit photos and a description of your PC to our build showcase Submit Now Looking for a little inspiration? I've noticed every time I see stock come and go there is usually a ton of new posts selling Ryzen 9s at absurd markups in the Denver area same day. Is there any way us normal working people can reserve a chip? Can you do anything to combat the amount of scalpers buying out your stock? If there's any way you can help work with me on this I'd be a return customer for years to come, I just want to upgrade my 8 year old CPU on my editing rig. Thanks in advance. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Comments takeaschmidt ✭ February 26 Same deal for the graphics cards, but significantly worse. At least you have reasonable options to choose from if you really need to get a machine up and running. Maybe not the same exact model you hoped for, but pretty darn close. People hunting GPUs are dead in the water stuck with cards that are completely unusable for games. A passive cooled GT710 or 1030 won't even run any modern games. This new normal of buying from scalpers is extremely annoying. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook LandShark admin February 26 Hello @JJC Thanks for sharing your feedback about this. I know your frustration well as it took me quite a long time to be able to get a GPU. We have taken steps to quell scalpers and we're still making changes to further reduce this. For now, we've implemented a system that requires that you show your ID at checkout and we're matching that with the information provided at checkout as well. High-demand items like these are limited to 1 per household until we start to receive more of the item. I hope this info is helpful to you, but until the manufacturers are able to catch up with the high demand for these items, we'll continue to do our best to provide opportunities for you and other customers to buy these items. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook JJC ✭ March 1 Yeah I'm grateful to have a pretty decent GPU but unfortunately I am not flexible on the CPU in this case, I will be using it for very intensive editing and I'm trying to get the best performance I can. Unfortunately it looks like I'm gonna have to wait a few months, either that or buy from a scalper or set up an Amazon bot :( 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook LandShark admin March 1 edited March 1 @JJC I'm seeing that most of our stores have the 5600X and even 5800X in stock at this time, hopefully, we'll start to see the same availability for the higher core count chips soon as well! Definitely keep an eye on our website. I'd strongly recommend going into the store if you're close by to speak with an associate about these as well. They may have more information about these, and who knows, you might get lucky if we do receive a shipment on the day you arrive. Personal opinion would be to not bend to the scalpers. I can kind of understand the need in some cases, however, supporting scalpers just increases the number of scalpers. From what I understand your CPU has been working well for you for some time and it still offers that same performance. I hope you're able to get a new CPU very soon and I wish you the best in your search! 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook JJC ✭ March 1 edited March 1 Right but I work Monday-Friday mornings so I have little chance to get one before they're sold out, I've been told they restock on Tues/Thurs which has proven true based on when I check the site for inventory. Trust me I've tried. I've spoken to store reps to see if we could work anything out, I offered to prepurchase just one chip in advance and nobody was willing to work with me, at this point it seems my options are wait months for stock to replenish, buy from a scalper, or somehow magically beat a bot to buy on online retailers. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook LandShark admin March 1 Yeah, I know the feeling. 😔 Hopefully, as we've seen with other new CPUs the stock will become more readily available quickly! 👍 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Modern ✭ March 2 Microcenter is one of the only places that consistently gets this hardware in stock, but their model for GPU and highly sought after CPU sales (line up outside) caters to the scalpers (who often are unemployed/self employed). They need to put some effort in to offering a better service for their customers. The Newegg Shuffle isn't a perfect solution, but it's better than trying nothing. 1 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook LandShark admin March 2 Hey @Modern mirroring my post here too. We do have guides and policy in place to restrict the ability of scalpers wherever possible and we're still working on new processes for these items. Thanks for sharing your feedback here about our current processes. I know it's a difficult time for us all right now since there is such a limit on all these CPUs and GPUs. I've recently noticed that we're starting to see ample stock of the 5600X and 5800X CPUs, so I'm hopeful that we'll start to see the same for GPUs in the near future. I know that our corporate teams are still working on ways to improve this and other processes in our stores. I'd be happy to pass this along to the correct teams! 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Carver ✭ March 9 I spent 2 months trying to score components for a desktop build for video editing and photogrammetry. I soon found out that not only were the components scarce from retailers that the manufacturers were completely sold out as soon as they brought them in. ( remember that these components are almost 100% manufactured in China or at least somewhere in the pacific. ) Actual production is truncated as well as shipping throttled back. Most have made some effort to curtail the miners bots but some were dumping product just because it was a quick injection of cash when they really needed ( wanted ) it. I was incredibly frustrated by the fact that " first one in the door gets the product" causing a long line of campers before the store even opened. Microcenter started releasing the product as soon as it came in the back door and got logged into the web based inventory instead of releasing it at opening the next day. I started my day by doing a search for a particular product and then continued to refresh the web page ( on my phone ) every time I remembered to throughout the day. In a few weeks I found my 5950 and my 3090 in stock and made my hour drive into the store each time. I got my Video card in December and my processor in Feb. and am still trying to find some less exotic parts that are not to be found either. I also ran an ad in craigslist offering to pay slightly more than retail for an unopened part. I got a few calls from guys that had won some in the "shuffle" at one of the online retailers that send components out by drawing. Best of luck to everyone including Microcenter. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook JJC ✭ March 15 Apparently microcenter no longer carries the 5900x or 5950x, looks like buying from a scalper or waiting several months is the only option now. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Ian admin March 15 edited March 15 https://community.microcenter.com/discussion/comment/29434#Comment_29434 Greetings, while we may not have stock of the product, we are for sure still carrying them. As far as we are aware the manager will arrive sometime between 6 and 7am. They will hand out vouchers to the line so that you don't have to stay until they open like the other releases. I believe most stores have it be until 3pm when you can redeem but I haven't been here for a release before and I don't know more than the fact that they will most likely hand out vouchers. This store did change their hours starting last Sunday, so they are open from 9am instead of the 10am that they used to open. From what I am aware of the 5600x and 5800x there is no rush. The only CPU that will be very limited will be the 5900x, which is to be expected. So I would say see if you can swing by around 6:30am to get a spot for the voucher. They are no longer needed to be present until check-in times at 4am and 7am on launch day. The problem with this is MC sale of the CPUs are based off of a first come first serve basis. Despite that people were able to come and go as the please without having to physically wait in line, which is typically part of the FCFS process for items with limited availability. This is pretty unfair to the people who are willing to wait in line for however long in order to purchase the product. This system would have been better suited for a raffle giving people the equal opportunity of securing a CPU while saving many time and effort. I understand that this maybe a smarter move in light of COVID-19 however, I feel that MC should be doing more to organize these actual releases rather than leaving it up to the consumers waiting outside. I believe the system was inspired by the one started during the 30 series GPU releases as shown in BitWit's video on youtube, however that system was much more rigid with 30 minute check-in times and required potential buyers to be in queue for much longer times than not as FCFS queues should be. Whether or not the 100 or so people who've already signed up would've been willing to wait when they arrived until doors open, doesn't change the fact that the situation is what it is right now, that there is no real queue and that the list could have easily been manipulated preventing people who were more willing to wait to purchase their item from doing so. TLDR: MC Tustin is getting run by a bunch of people who don't know how a first come first serve queue works. As someone whos camped out over the years for items with limited availability such as shoes, clothing, collectables, etc. This is pretty bullshit. 1 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook bbnn ✭ November 2020 Xkix said: @bbnn doesn’t look like it but everyone is really chill and friendly here we know the order  nice you guys stay safe AARGH said: CrashAegis said: AARGH said: PrestonYoungsley said: Whats breakdown of chips wanted out of the 22 @ fairfax, I'll probably just roll up in the AM, all i want is a measly 5600x #   Type 08 5950 13 5900 01 5800 01 5600 and 3 for 3080 cards just in case Any clue if the 5950 folks are opting for that card or bust?  Probably take an hour to get there and I'd hate to be just edged out if they opt 5900 instead At least 5 are, we are at 26 people in line as of last check in..   11 - 5950 16 - 5900 02 - 5800 01 - 5600 04 - Also interested in 3080's damn people still buying 3080s 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook CrashAegis ✭ November 2020 Sheepykin said: radioToys said: Sheepykin said: 5 people in line at the Rockville location with everyone on a list and want 5900x. I'll probably be looking for the Ryzen 5, 5600X at the Micro Center at Overland Park, KS, but I'm sure many of us around the US are waiting for any 1 of these 3 CPU's. I do not understand the delay - and I don't even care to hear about any alleged reason (from AMD) for the lack of stock - such as unprecedented demand or the pandemic. Because, even though there may be factors out of their control, AMD and retailers could be working much better to provide reliable information about when the stock will be available - regardless of the ongoing issues. Will I be able to come into your Microcenter and buy a new Ryzen CPU of my choice in 2 weeks, 6 weeks, 12+ weeks, or can this still not be estimated? Thank you PS: Since Intel will be releasing their new line of CPU's soon - codename "Rocketlake", AMD had better hope they're able to get their product out on shelves soon, because Intel is coming up behind them. Enthusiasts in the know may wait several weeks and read the reports before deciding between the 2. Or, after waiting so long, many of us may find that we don't even need to upgrade yet, and thousands of overpriced, overrated, underperforming, untested CPU's will flood the market, and sit on shelves for many, many months, making "2021-The year the CPU Crashed"! Thank you. L. Fisher 1-25-21 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Comments LandShark admin January 25 Hello, @pentiuman Welcome to the community! At this time, we don't have an ETA for how soon we'll have a wide availability of the new AMD Ryzen series. I'd recommend keeping an eye on our website. In time, you'll be able to reserve one for you to pick up in the store. If you're able to visit the store directly, I'd recommend doing that. Our associates in the store would be able to assist you with a more detailed answer for how much stock your store has been receiving and how much they expect in the near future. I hope this answers your questions and concerns. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook pentiuman ✭ January 25 Thanks for your quick answer LandShark - and for not biting me for my attitude. Wanting a faster CPU, I was surprised, confused, then upset when looking on Microcenter's website for the new ones. Despite the considerable time since launch, they weren't showing up while browsing stock limited to my store. I've worked and played w/ PC's for years, but I was not able to get on Microcenter's website and easily see which AMD or Intel CPU's were just released, and which have been out for years. I did not know exact CPU stock #'s (such as the Ryzen 5600X) and you are still selling the old generations - sometimes 2 generations back! Although it's true that one can sort by "CPU Core", the average consumer (or techie not closely following the news) may not know which core is more recent. Yes, you can sometimes click on each individual product and look at it's specifications to learn which generation it is, but the products look so similar. Given that the CPU manufacturers do a poor job of differentiating their CPU's and their respective compatibilities, I'm suggesting retailers like Microcenter could assist consumers w/ a better website. Perhaps arrange their products better by the factors of generation (age), and always show out of stock CPU's, and the known new CPU's about to be released within the next few days. Nothing is worse than buying your components, spending days putting it together and getting it configured, then learning either you didn't buy the newest generation CPU, or there's a newer CPU coming out in days! It takes a bit of your pride away and your new system seems a little bit slower than you felt it was before you had the facts. Technology is advancing fast and consumers need help choosing the right components for them. Sometimes that means they want the least expensive solution. Other times that equates to having a system that is small and quiet. And sometimes that means they want the very latest hardware on the market, within the "sweet spot" - as Gordon Ung from Maximum PC Magazine would say. Thank you! 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Followme ✭ January 27 LandShark said: Hello, @pentiuman Welcome to the community! Lateral Rockville ✭ December 2020 in CPUs, Memory, and Motherboards                     If you're part of the PC Master race, you've probably built your own PC before. One of the hardest things to do is find the parts for it. I usually don't know what processor to pick. I go around and I see Ryzen 3, Ryzen 5, Ryzen 7 and Ryzen 9 and I ask myself: "What do these numbers mean?" Well I'm going to explain that to you guys.                     Let's start with Ryzen 3. Most of the time, when a CPU has "Ryzen 3" behind its number like 3100 it means it has 4 cores. (when it says a number after "Ryzen" like 3 the number of cores will usually be the number right after like 4). Ryzen 3 processors are usually the the series of processors that will have APUs in it. More on that later.                     Here we enter the budget area of Ryzen 5. These processors are the most commonly bought since they have 6 cores which is just right for gaming. They also aren't as expensive as the higher end CPUs with eight cores or sixteen cores which make them a bang for the buck.                     Now we see Ryzen 7, the powerhouse CPU series. Ryzen 7 is known because of how affordable it is compared to Intel's Core i7. It has eight cores and is great for productivity like graphical design. It is one step down from being the greatest CPU on the consumer side of AMD (excluding Threadripper).                     Ah, Ryzen 9, land of the overkill. Ryzen 9 is a very powerful sixteen core cpu for it's size. One of the latest Ryzen 9 CPUs holds the name as most powerful CPU in the world at the time of writing this. That CPU is the Ryzen 9 5950X.                     Here comes the G series, the APUs, they are the Ryzen processors that have integrated graphics. They include the Ryzen 3 3000G, 3200G and 3400G. Each one having better graphics. They definitely not the most sold AMD processors but they are sold in some rather small quantities.                     That is it for today but I do hope to see you in my next discussion/educational paragraph. See ya!    0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Categories 6.5K All Categories 997 The Blog 34 What's Trending 156 How to & Technical Guides 8 Computer Hardware 118 Software 3 Home Office 5 Networking Audio/Visual 2 Home Automation 15 3D Printers 5 Maker 14 PC Build Guides 76 Reviews & Buying Guides 23 Build Showcase 11 Contests 33 Past Contests 711 The Community 1.7K General Discussion 102 New Members 64 Consumer Tech 16 Prebuilt PCs and Laptops 71 Software 2 Audio/Visual 11 Networking & Security 1 Home Automation 2 Digital Photography 3 Content Creators 21 Hobby Boards & Projects 22 3D Printing 46 Retro Arcade/Gaming 78 All Other Tech 1.2K Store Information and Policy 46 Off Topic 5 Community Ideas & Feedback 110 Your Completed Builds 2.6K Build-Your-Own PC 1.6K Help Choosing Parts 217 Graphics Cards 157 CPUs, Memory, and Motherboards 61 Cases and Power Supplies 19 Air and Liquid Cooling 11 Monitors and Displays 28 Peripherals 6 All Other Parts 18 Featured Categories We love seeing what our customers build Submit photos and a description of your PC to our build showcase Submit Now Looking for a little inspiration? I've been sitting here since 2h30pm, and I managed to talk to A LOT of associates, here is what I got: - Official info is they will have every CPU, confirmed tl me by the official MC twitter - Several associates mentioned NDAs, and considering that everyone everywhere else is super silent its likely cause AMD is likely keeping a tight leash - Unofficially Ive had several employees telling me they have a good amount of stock, and some even suggested that for lower tiers camping wont be needed - Everyone that let stuff slip was super positive about it, and everyone else kept super quiet My advice is, if you want 5950X, you're likely out of luck. If you want 5900X get here NOW, if you want the others you can risk it until later. 1 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Sheepykin Maryland ✭ November 2020 Rockville location is now at 15 people in line for the 5900x, 2 for 5800x, and 1 5600x. 1 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Cibello ✭ November 2020 Sheepykin said: Rockville location is now at 15 people in line for the 5900x, 2 for 5800x, and 1 5600x. If they miss it then they notify you very quickly upon them opening, which will be in about 5 hours. The question then is WHEN they get their first batch. For the 5950x it is possible they don't get their shipment until later in the week when other stores get it sooner. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook RocketStation ✭ November 2020 Just got to Marietta, there’s about 20 in line. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Joker4L ✭ November 2020 RocketStation said: Just got to Marietta, there’s about 20 in line. Hey saw you walking out with a handful. I was unable to get the the 5950x or the 5900x, at about number 40 in line. The sales associated did not see one of those printed sheets for the 5950x thus he didn't know, he may have gotten to that table afterward. But he did say the 5900x was sold out by that time. I ended up with the 5800x, and decided to get the store warranty (which I never do). This will allow me to upgrade if I decide to spring for the 5950x when it gets back to stock. On the 5900x it took 16 minutes. Upon opening the engine in Visual Studio with the i5 4670k it used to take well over a minute before I could even click on anything and move through Visual Studio, and even then it would have bad lag spikes and stutters when trying to do stuff for about another minute. With the 5900x it took 6 seconds to be fully loaded up and useable without any issue. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook TSTonyV admin November 2020 obogobo said: TimC said: Fairfax says limited availability on some of them. I waited outside the Brooklyn microcenter for 7 hours (2 am) in the cold on Friday for a chance at a 5950 cpu and a 3080 gpu.  I was first in line and when I got to the Build-A-PC section the sales people I spoke with were actively hostile.  They yelled at me when i touched the boxes for the GPUs and CPUs and wouldn't let me inspect them.  When I told them I had purchased a gpu at another Microcenter and wanted to exchange it for the Gigabyte 3080 they inspected my receipt and my unopened box for 3-4 minutes then refused to do the exchange because they said that I had too many card purchases (3) in my history.  By Microcenter policy this should not prevent me from doing an exchange but they ignored my assertion.  They then also ignored my requests to purchase a 5950 cpu and tried to sell the 3 of them to the group behind me, only giving me one when I began complaining. After the tall gentleman in the glasses finally gave me the card he then went back to a work computer with other employees, looked up my history on his own and among other things said, "How the did this fat get 3 cards in 3 days?" and began loudly yelling, swearing, and complaining about me with a few of his other coworkers who also joined in.  I know this because they were so loud I heard them from the checkout line.  This was the most unprofessional retail transaction I have experienced to date. I want to be clear that I am not a scalper and was nothing but nice to your staff.  I had a 5800x stolen off my welcome mat last week and decided to wait in line over and over again at microcenter until I got the final parts to my computer because it had been 2 months and I was tired of the bots taking everything online.  Tuesday I waited 8 hours at Yonkers and got nothing.  Wednesday I waited 10 hours in the cold at Yonkers again with my friend and got a 3060ti fe and purchased a 3080 for my buddy who was ahead of me and unexpectedly got the last card 2 and a half hours of waiting later.  Thursday I again waited 10 hours in the cold and got a 3080 ftw3 ultra for myself but no processor.  And finally Friday I stayed 7 hours in the cold at Brooklyn, wasn't allowed to make a by policy trade for the gigabyte gpu I'd been looking a week for and only got a 5950x after I was harassed and maligned by the staff. By the way, I gave one of those extra cards to my roommate and the other one to my brother.  None of the cards I received were sold. I will never be back to the Brooklyn microcenter.  My family won't be back.  My friends won't be back and I will tell everyone I work with, for and through to not to come to your location.  I don't know what happened to your staff and I'm sorry they have become so angry, and stressed and anxious and bitter but I did not deserve to be treated the way that I did.  I did not deserve to be called the names I was called.  This was my first time at the Brooklyn microcenter, and I had been informed of your service by my experience at the Yonkers location, which was exceptional.  I have never met friendlier, more helpful, or more knowledgeable staff that actively cared about the products and the people who were buying them.  This was not the case with you. Just so you know, none of your staff came out to tell us if anything was available, offered to help with the line, helped organize, did vouchers, or did anything other than ignore my friendly good mornings or give those of us standing in line rude glares or looks.  No other microcenter completely ignores the people that brave the cold for a chance to finish building their rigs.  I made a list, kept everyone organized, got donuts, prevented stragglers from sneaking in and helped keep people in a good mood while we waited.  Nobody even came out until 9 am, and when the doors did open, the staff seemed genuinely upset that we were there.  I'm sorry but I'm in the hospitality business, and this was just about the worst retail experience of my life and I can't imagine treating anyone the way I have been treated by the salespeople at Brooklyn. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Comments TS_JosephF admin December 2020 Hello @CarlG I have created a ticket regarding this matter. Ah well. I'd love to camp out, but would be really upset if I wasted the entire night and then not be able to get the 5950x. I'll think about it lol. Sorted it out so I can get over there whenever between now and opening, although I'd prefer not to have to stand outside all night so hopefully that "plentiful enough" evaluation is accurate.  Was hoping a 7am arrival would be enough to get one 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook KrimsonRelic ✭ November 2020 Jori said: I just spoke to someone at the Houston location on the phone and he said he did not show that they were going to have the 5900x and he couldnt say for sure about the 5800's on launch day.  *cry*  I dont understand it myself so you guys in line might want to ask an employee on the floor if you can or call the houston number and wait on hold like i did.  He stated other locations would have it but he didnt show any for houston location. I was told as well that it'll be like the 30 series. But I have heard that stock wont be as bad as the 30xxx. Im hoping the car queue was in Houston, TX that'd be amazing for me. Anyone who has info for Houston MC then that would be amazing I really hope the stock is significantly better... I had to camp 12+ hours to get a 3080... and I was the last one to get it... it was madness. But past releases for AMD also point to it selling out, despite it having a good amount of stock, so I wouldn't count on being able to just go in at 10 when it opens, camping or waiting for online releases is the go-to strategy, good luck! I think I might camp out at Cambridge as well... what time do you plan on getting there? and what do you bring? This would be my first time camping outside of a store I haven't decided on the time yet... My advice is, bring a coat, its gonna be cold, and a chair if you can, cause it'll be a couple hours wait minimum. Do you think 5am would be earlier enough to get to Cambridge tomorrow morning or is earlier necessary? 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook TRUEfoe ✭ November 2020 Anyone at St Louis Park location yet?  0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook TheRedOx ✭ November 2020 Anyone in line at Westmont, IL yet?
