This Big Ferocious GPU is designed for top-of-the-line gamers, content creators, and data scientists and has the oomph to back it up. With an improvement of 60% over the last generation's 2080 Ti, the 3090 Ti can even support 8K HDR gaming with Ray Tracing. This is a card that is going to keep you on the cutting edge for a long time to come. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti Breakdown NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti Specs Maximum Digital Resolution: 7680x4320 RAM: 24GB GDDR6X PCIe support: 4.0 Architecture: NVIDIA Ampere NVIDIA CUDA Core Count: 10752 Boost clock speed: 1.86GHz Fan Count: 3 Slot size: Dual Slot RTX Ray Tracing Second Generation Support DLSS Support VR Ready NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti Build When you're playing with one of the most powerful cards available, you make a build that's just as powerful. Our GeForce RTX 3090 Ti build pulls no punches, ensuring everything runs fast, smooth, and, most importantly, looks good doing it. Processor: Intel Core i9-12900K Alder Lake 3.2GHz Sixteen-Core LGA 1700 When building for the best, use the best. And the Core i9-12900k is certainly among the best Intel has to offer. With a whopping sixteen cores and 24 processing threads as well as DDR5 support, the 12900k is the perfect companion to the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti. Don't forget a cooler - grab an AIO like the MSI MAG CoreLiquid 360R V2 360mm RGB Water Cooling Kit and keep your CPU temps low! Motherboard: ASUS Z690-F ROG Strix Gaming WiFi DDR5 Intel LGA 1700 ATX Motherboard When putting together a build for the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti, the big focus of your motherboard should be DDR5 RAM support. Thus, the ASUS Z690-F, featuring not only DDR5 RAM support, but also PCIe 5.0, multiple M.2 slots, and onboard Wi-Fi. Not only are you ready for the cutting edge now, you will be for a while yet. Graphics Card: EVGA NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti FTW3 Black Obviously, the focal point of the build, the EVGA NVIDIA RTX 3090 Ti FTW 3 s everything you could want in a GPU and then some. An earth-shattering 10752 CUDA cores? Yup. 8K HDR support? Check. PCIe 4.0? of course! Second generation Ray Tracing, DLSS, and VR ready? Yes, yes, and yes. BFGPU indeed. RAM: G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR5-5600 PC5-44800 CL40 Dual Channel Desktop Memory Kit You're building a powerhouse of a build. Don't skimp on your RAM. 32GB of DDR5 RAM is the bare minimum for a build like this, and it will take advantage of every extra bit of speed you give it. Plus, a little RGB never hurts. Hard Drive(s): Samsung 970 EVO Plus SSD 2TB M.2 NVMe and Samsung 870 EVO 4TB SSD Absolutely no old-school HDDs for this build. For our main boot drive, we want a blazing fast Samsung NVMe with 2TB of space - more than enough for an OS and a couple regularly-used games and apps. Then for more storage, we've got a standard 4TB Samsung SSD. Still lightning quick, and perfect for everything else. Power Supply: Corsair HX1200 1200 Watt 80 Plus Platinum ATX Fully Modular Power Supply A 1000 watt power supply is the minimum recommendation for the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti, but it's always a good idea to add a bit of wiggle room to your build. Plus, an 80 Plus Platinum certification will help ensure that your PC is running both efficiently and safely. Case: Fractal Design Torrent Tempered Glass ATX Mid-Tower Computer Case - Black You've put together an incredible build. It deserves an incredible case. The Fractal Design Torrent is sleek, stylish, and minimal. Perfect to hold your all your components (with fantastic airflow!) without overshadowing the true centerpiece of your build: the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti. At this time, we're waiting on the manufacturers to produce more cards, and we're expediting our shipments to our stores. Because of these increased measures, I'm not sure when we'll be receiving specific shipments in our stores. At this time, your best chance of getting a card would be arriving before the store opens and waiting in line. NVIDIA decreases production to increase price. NVIDIA distributors and thugs deploy bots to buy up stock. Those people start scalping on eBay for 2x, 3x, 4x, and morex, $$$. And the only people getting screwed are the common man just trying to game? Meanwhile, Microcenter erases their phone numbers from everywhere, and won't answer the old numbers anyway. Funnels people in to a link for chat that does not work. Requires DNA to send an email. And requests customers drive, potentially dozens of miles, to get in line, give up privacy (name and number) to receive a text to get in the store. And are promptly told, Sorry... you lose. Try again tomorrow. We apologize for any inconvenience. Feel free to correct anything above that is inaccurate. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Comments TSMichaelB admin April 2021 https://community.microcenter.com/discussion/8393/asus-rog-strix-rtx-3090 My take on the flow of this situation would be as follows: Silica shortage (not your average backyard sand, but pure silica) leading to manufacturing shortages across the entire industry worldwide: https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20191108-why-the-world-is-running-out-of-sand (November of 2019), https://www.cnbc.com/2021/03/05/sand-shortage-the-world-is-running-out-of-a-crucial-commodity.html (March of 2021) Market Prioritization. Products used in consumer application is often cutdown and derived from higher-tier markets. For the context of computers, our gaming-grade graphics cards and processors are cutdown from their HPC counterparts. The RTX 3090 and 3080 for example are cutdown from the RTX A6000 and A40 class of cards, sharing the same GA102 GPU core. Silicon is often offered to the HPC industry first before it trickles down to our general consumer industry, so we have to wait for the components that weren't quite strong enough to become A6000/A40's to be "cutdown" into A6000's and A40's. Since the industry is facing a shortage, that process is impacted as a result. Distribution & Logistics Issues. Assembling components in the middle of a worldwide material shortage compounded by a pandemic is difficult enough, even more so when the same pandemic impacts international shipping. Flights were grounded in many countries, additional screening measures added on shipments into and out of countries, coupled with shipping companies being unable to meet with the surge in shipping demand from those now working at home and not wanting to risk doing their shopping in-store. All of this, while trying to maintain social distancing practices themselves and staffing to meet the demand, it's quite the nightmare scenario. Pandemic Induced Demand. This one couldn't have come at a worse possible time. We saw the silica shortage coming back in 2019, but to have everyone working at home and in direct access to their PC's and gaming devices, being barred from their usual outdoor activities looking for new outlets for entertainment? No doubt this lead to a significant increase in demand for GPU's and new technology in general. Remember, there isn't just a GPU shortage going on, car manufacturers are competing for the same silica: https://www.bbc.com/news/business-56841946 Scalpers & Bots. As we've seen throughout history, not everyone acts altruistically in times of need and instead look for opportunities to profit. They've existed far longer than hardware shortages and will likely exist beyond this shortage as well. Tariffs. I won't get into political discussion, but tariffs do play a role in product pricing and it couldn't have hit at a worse time. It took a while for the impact to trickle down to hit consumers, but when it did, it was significant: https://www.pcmag.com/news/with-tariffs-back-in-place-gpu-vendors-evga-zotac-raise-prices-on-graphics, https://www.tomshardware.com/news/gpu-tariff-asus-priceincrease With all of that said, I don't believe that manufacturers are willingly decreasing production to inflate their own pricing. Doing so would risk their market share which is far more valuable to them than making a few extra hundred dollars on what limited number of cards they are selling. Remember, Microsoft sold the Xbox consoles at a loss just to gain the valuable market share. Companies want to be able to say "Our product is in the hands of X% of customers around the world", and they can't do that if they are shooting themselves in the foot by restricting the very product consumers want. I just think it's a combination of some very unfortunate events that brought about a terrible situation all around. As for the phone number issue, I can say that our tech support team can still be reached at 614-850-3670. In fact, I'd recommend texting that number as you'll likely get a quicker response due to the increased phone queue volume. As for chat not working, this would be the first that I've heard of that, though I can pass that along to the supervisors of our tech support team. Part of the reason why we have this community forum is that we have actual customers sharing information and helping each other out. I, for example, am operating out of our corporate office and can't really provide any information from an in-store level, but customers that are at the stores would be able to help update each other on their experience with the lines, what they see as far as product availability is concerned, and provide crucial feedback to one another. I get that everyone is frustrated over this GPU shortage situation, throw my name in the hat among that very same group of people, but there won't be much that can be done about it until the world gets back into a normal rhythm. Until then, we'll work to improve our processes and we are still open to suggestions to improve. Discussions are going on every single day to improve our processes and to get everyone the product they are looking for, it's just a matter of time before things eventually work out. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Ian admin April 2021 edited April 2021 Greetings, to add on to the above, our chat service is available during store hours at the bottom right corner on any page on the www.microcenter.com website (including the home page), however not the Community.microcenter.com (this forum) website We are not aware of any issues. It was lip service. And Nvidia doesn't need to "beat" the competition. It has one competitor: AMD, and NV is winning. Nvidia is not focused on execution of production of GPUs. It's on a shopping spree to buy up competition, and perceived future competition. It doesn't give a RA about consumer customers. Enforcement. Companies such as eBay have always been evil, dating back to the days of Meg Whitless. They take their usual 10% or so of every sale, so they have no problem with scalpers on their platform selling 3090 after 3090 at $4K+. Until the states AGs band together and start investigating scalpers and the platforms they use, it won't change. The AGs did it with concert ticket scalpers. Time to step up and do their jobs again. Anyone can see the scalpers flaunting their bot booty - guy on comments on PCmag shows off a wall of bot-bought Nvidia GPUs, lhao, selling them one by one at $3K, $4K, and beyond. Yes shipping and logistics are a worldwide problem. You just have to pay more to get your product to market. Would I pay $100 extra on an MSRP priced 3090 because there are 4,000 empty containers waiting to return to Taiwan and 60 ships waiting at Long Beach and Port LA? Of course. But I can't, because the product isn't there. Nor do I care about tariffs. Tack another $100 onto MSRP. WRT Microcenter, Tech support is not sales support. So, I'd like to know that if I fail to order one online, whether or not there will still be units available for purchase in person at my local Microcenter (Brooklyn). In other words, does Microcenter allocate a percentage of its stock exclusively for in-store purchases that aren't therefore effected by online orders (regardless of whether or not the online orders are for shipping or in-store pickup)? If so, how many hours before opening should I arrive to wait outside for the store to open up? Are there typically long lines outside of Microsoft locations on the days that new graphics cards are released? 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Comments TSTonyV admin September 2020 For the new RTX cards preference will be given for in-store purchasers. We don't have the full details yet but my expectation is that the items will show on the website, but will not be available to be reserved at first until supply/demand equalizes a bit.  As for how early you should show up, that's going to depend on your store and availability. From what I'm hearing the 3090 is going to be a pretty limited card just in general.  1 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook BluRayHiDef ✭ September 2020 TSTonyV said: For the new RTX cards preference will be given for in-store purchasers. What time do you intend to arrive?  0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook floydian022 ✭ September 2020 edited September 2020 I mean, the stores don't actually open until 10am(and I'm only about 20mins from my nearest one), so I'm probably not going to actually overnight camp or anything.  My basic plan is:  1. Start hitting refresh on Amazon/Newegg/etc. at 11:59pm on 9/16(and checking forums a couple hours prior to start gauging the frenzy level). 2.  If FE & AIB cards are readily available(and Prime-eligible) from Amazon at midnight and I can grab one of my preferred ones(probably either AORUS, eVGA FTW3 or maybe just an FE), I'll likely just do that and wait the two days for delivery.   3.  If things are crazy and cards are going out of stock immediately and there's nothing left but Zotacs and MSIs by 12:03, then I'll check online stock for my local MC to see if any cards have been listed yet and plan to head to the store a couple hours or so before opening and play it by ear from there.  4. Worst case, if it's already total chaos by 7am at my local store and it becomes apparent that I have no shot at whatever stock the store might even have, I take my loss, go back home and wait and keep checking back here, amazon, bb, newegg, etc. for however long until cards are in stock again.   My own personal take:  While I do think there will definitely be a day 1 rush on these cards(because they look to be great cards at a very respectable relative price point), and that supply logistics certainly have been thrown a unique curveball that didn't exist during the 1000 or 2000 series releases, I think the latter issue could be more likely to impact brick & mortars like MC, whereas vendors like Amazon have clearly shown over the past few months that they have the capital, workforce and transportation capabilities to keep churning along(for the most part).   Also(and perhaps more importantly), I don't predict a huge influx of crypto miners for these cards like we've seen previously.  For one, mining has become exponentially more complex/difficult since then, and many of the small-timers have packed it in at this point.  For another, pricing these cards in the $700-800 range is going to undoubtedly cause a HUGE drop in prices for 1080Ti's and 20xx's, and we'll also see a bunch of them hit the eBay market as well.  That's a good thing overall, because there will inevitably be plenty of folks with 1060 6GBs who will go, "I'd really love to spend the $700 on a 3080, but I can get a slightly-used 2070S now for $300, which is almost as good!", and many miners to realize that they can get better value/returns by gouging that used market, rather than dealing with trying to scam the online retailers with bots on release day(prob easier to script/tweak existing bots for eBay auctions anyway).  Lastly, there's also speculation that the smaller 8nm architecture for Ampere will allow for greater die yeild(meaning that NVidia may have already produced more GPUs this time around).  All in all, I'm cautiously optimistic that I won't find myself sitting here empty-handed in October, still waiting for 3080s to be back in stock and debating whether to just repeat from step 1 with the 3070s, but who knows. edit: Apologies - I wrote this whole thing up and THEN realized it's a 3090 thread.  I'm an idiot.  Sorry about that.  edit 2: And then I actually went back and clarified it some more, just because I feel my logic still applies to my approach/opinion re: the 3080s, in case anyone out there stumbles upon this lol 1 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook joejccva71 ✭ September 2020 To be honest I would stay away from online buying.  I know that in the past I've ordered from Newegg on parts where it showed in stock on launch day, and credit card went through.  A day or two later I received an email stating they were out of stock and had to refund me. I would get up early and wait in line at the store. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook floydian022 ✭ September 2020 Unfortunately, that option may have just become less viable:  https://twitter.com/microcenter/status/1304475301100105729 Still no word on which(if any) AIB cards will be avaiable, or at which stores.  0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook TSTonyV admin September 2020 edited September 2020 floydian022 said: Unfortunately, that option may have just become less viable:  https://twitter.com/microcenter/status/1304475301100105729 Still no word on which(if any) AIB cards will be avaiable, or at which stores.  We will have AIB cards, we just don't know which ones or how many yet. Our stores do not have specific or set GPU shipping days. It's all just dependent on when we receive shipments from our distribution centers or direct from our vendors. That being said, I'm not sure which days are more common for Tustin. Maybe one of our other community members will have an answer for you! If not, I'd recommend coming into the store to speak with an sales associate. They'd likely have the most accurate answer for you. it should be noted that the store will be following this procedure for new stock of these cards: https://community.microcenter.com/discussion/8756/random-selection-process-and-faq 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Serguei_Nepomnine ✭ October 2021 Thank you Ian for your response. I did talk to the sales representatives at the store and unfortunately they don't know anything either. They can't tell what day of the week the shipment might come, would it be this week on the next, or perhaps next month, nor whether it is going to be in the morning or afternoon. Since my present video card is failing and I need it for work, it seams that I just have to pack my camping gear and move to the parking lot of Microcenter until I get the card. *devastated smile* Sorry, Ian, I know that it is not in your power to change this awful situation. Therefore, I am considering my second option, which is to get an Alienware customized desktop with a RTX 3090 in it. Thank you again for your time and prompt response. Cheers. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Ian admin October 2021 https://community.microcenter.com/discussion/comment/36473#Comment_36473 You're welcome. I have been able to play Vulkan games though such as Read Dead Online and Hades. I do have a 850W power supply and have been running hardware monitor to make sure it is not drawing too much power and it does not seem to be the issue. The current steps I have tried are: Validated game files Reinstalled the games Uninstalled Graphics drivers through GeForce Exerpience and reinstalled drivers Uninstalled drivers using DDU and reinstalled drivers manually Did fresh install of windows Ran a memory test and found no issues Ran DxDiag and fun no problems I am currently out of ideas of what to try. At this point, I'm wondering if there is a defect with the GPU itself. Is there any more troubleshooting steps I should try before taking the GPU back? 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Comments LandShark admin February 2021 It sounds like you've covered almost all of the bases here. I'd recommend reseating the GPU. What kind of error is occurring? 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook TSMikeW admin February 2021 @CrippledFlamingo We're going to need more details on what it's doing. Will the game not launch? You're missing a one critical component and a lot of accessories.. For your pump the D5 is the gold standard here. There are lots of options, some with PWM. If I buy a D5 with PWM, it's because it's a good deal, I won't connect the PWM cable, just run the pump at 100%.  Second, you need tubing. Soft or rigid. We have kits for bending rigid PETG if that's something you want to do. Second is fittings, you're going to want to use compression fittings. They're simple to use. You'll need one for each port. CPU block, GPU block, Radiator, Pump. Should be 8 in all.  You will note the port thread on the components when buying fittings. Should all be G1/4" A few other things I should add regarding the D5. Get a pump-res combo. You don't need a reservoir, but you'll be grateful. With a res the system will mostly bleed itself. Otherwise, you're doing a T-fitting, and you'll spend an afternoon on it. D5 should include an adapter to jump your power supply for leak testing, otherwise, you can make your own out of a paper clip. you could also consider the EK leak tester: https://www.microcenter.com/product/610520/ek-leak-tester It's $49.99, but it's a lot faster. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook bartiniboy ✭ November 2020 Thx Ill be going in tomorrow to talk to a tech about planning it out  0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Categories 8K All Categories 1.2K The Blog 63 What's Trending 15 Past News and Updates 185 How to & Technical Guides 13 Computer Hardware 119 Software 3 Home Office 6 Networking 2 Audio/Visual 2 Home Automation 20 3D Printers 20 Maker 32 PC Build Guides 120 Reviews & Buying Guides 55 Build Showcase 27 Contests 48 Past Contests 1.6K The Community 1.9K General Discussion 105 New Members 247 Consumer Tech 67 Prebuilt PCs and Laptops 100 Software 8 Audio/Visual 27 Networking & Security 1 Home Automation 3 Digital Photography 3 Content Creators 22 Hobby Boards & Projects 33 3D Printing 69 Retro Arcade/Gaming 92 All Other Tech 1.6K Store Information and Policy 78 Off Topic 16 Community Ideas & Feedback 120 Your Completed Builds 2.9K Build-Your-Own PC 1.9K Help Choosing Parts 251 Graphics Cards 200 CPUs, Memory, and Motherboards 73 Cases and Power Supplies 23 Air and Liquid Cooling 26 Monitors and Displays 34 Peripherals 19 All Other Parts 28 Featured Categories We love seeing what our customers build Submit photos and a description of your PC to our build showcase Submit Now Looking for a little inspiration? September 24th, I live close to the Tustin store and would be willing to wait in line if there is one...would you be able to share what the best approach would be in obtaining one of these cards? Thank you  0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Comments TSMikeW admin September 2020 Greetings, Unfortunately we won't have any information until the launch date. If they're available they'll be sold first come, first served. I would plan to be there in the morning at open. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Barryboy ✭ September 2020 Thank you for the reply, are you allowing a line to be formed outside? I heard for the 3080 launch today people were lining up the day before...could you confirm? Thanks again  0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook TSMikeW admin September 2020 That's going to depend on your local store and how they're handling the launch. I can't provide any information on this, unfortunately, except to suggest you be there on launch day. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook JohnnyO ✭ September 2020 Barryboy I would highly suggest (which all due respect) to not listen to the above comment.  We were told all week (stopped in 3 times to make purchases) that they had an abundance of 3080s in the back and that we could get in line by 6-7am and still get a card.. we arrived at 2 am and there were already 15 people in line for 12 cards, with an empty promise that 15 cards may be coming.  Moral of my comment is the only people that were able to purchase the 3080 were people who got there at 6-10PM the night before release.  I’d imagine the 3090 will be the same situation, so I would saddle up and get ready to stay the night.  0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook BobaFoot ✭ September 2020 JohnnyO said: Barryboy I would highly suggest (which all due respect) to not listen to the above comment. This. Plan to show up at the store BEFORE they even close on the day BEFORE the release if you want a fighting chance. Bring a chair, snacks, blankets, whatever and plan to camp out in line. Nvidia botched this release, and from the comments on other threads, Micro Center employees don't really know what goes on with their inventory. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Categories 8K All Categories 1.2K The Blog 63 What's Trending 15 Past News and Updates 185 How to & Technical Guides 13 Computer Hardware 119 Software 3 Home Office 6 Networking 2 Audio/Visual 2 Home Automation 20 3D Printers 20 Maker 32 PC Build Guides 120 Reviews & Buying Guides 55 Build Showcase 27 Contests 48 Past Contests 1.6K The Community 1.9K General Discussion 105 New Members 247 Consumer Tech 67 Prebuilt PCs and Laptops 100 Software 8 Audio/Visual 27 Networking & Security 1 Home Automation 3 Digital Photography 3 Content Creators 22 Hobby Boards & Projects 33 3D Printing 69 Retro Arcade/Gaming 92 All Other Tech 1.6K Store Information and Policy 78 Off Topic 16 Community Ideas & Feedback 120 Your Completed Builds 2.9K Build-Your-Own PC 1.9K Help Choosing Parts 251 Graphics Cards 200 CPUs, Memory, and Motherboards 73 Cases and Power Supplies 23 Air and Liquid Cooling 26 Monitors and Displays 34 Peripherals 19 All Other Parts 28 Featured Categories We love seeing what our customers build Submit photos and a description of your PC to our build showcase Submit Now Looking for a little inspiration? Ahchu ✭ February 2021 edited June 2021 in General Discussion Scalpers are killing me. I just want to game. When will there be a restock? 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Comments LandShark admin February 2021 Hello @Ahchu We've been receiving stock of the RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 cards. However, most times we sell out within minutes of opening in the morning. Because of this, I'd recommend checking our website or checking in at your local store. The associates there are quite knowledgeable and may have more info for you about these cards. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook steelaw ✭ February 2021 you have to get up early ahchu and wait outside the store for it to open and HOPE there is a delivery that day of 3080 or 3090 and no guarantee you will get one.i waited outside for 3 hours before the store opened and didnt get one but i did manage to get 6800xt.better than nothing i guess. 1 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Categories 8K All Categories 1.2K The Blog 63 What's Trending 15 Past News and Updates 185 How to & Technical Guides 13 Computer Hardware 119 Software 3 Home Office 6 Networking 2 Audio/Visual 2 Home Automation 20 3D Printers 20 Maker 32 PC Build Guides 120 Reviews & Buying Guides 55 Build Showcase 27 Contests 48 Past Contests 1.6K The Community 1.9K General Discussion 105 New Members 247 Consumer Tech 67 Prebuilt PCs and Laptops 100 Software 8 Audio/Visual 27 Networking & Security 1 Home Automation 3 Digital Photography 3 Content Creators 22 Hobby Boards & Projects 33 3D Printing 69 Retro Arcade/Gaming 92 All Other Tech 1.6K Store Information and Policy 78 Off Topic 16 Community Ideas & Feedback 120 Your Completed Builds 2.9K Build-Your-Own PC 1.9K Help Choosing Parts 251 Graphics Cards 200 CPUs, Memory, and Motherboards 73 Cases and Power Supplies 23 Air and Liquid Cooling 26 Monitors and Displays 34 Peripherals 19 All Other Parts 28 Featured Categories We love seeing what our customers build Submit photos and a description of your PC to our build showcase Submit Now Looking for a little inspiration?
