Community Article RTX 3060 Ti Review and Benchmarks — Micro Center Computers Computer Parts Custom PC Builder DIY/ Maker {$smarty.capture.menu} Activity Categories Discussions Computers Computer Parts Custom PC Builder DIY/ Maker Home › Reviews & Buying Guides RTX 3060 Ti Review and Benchmarks TSPhillipT admin December 2020 edited February 3 in Reviews & Buying Guides Nvidia and AMD have been on a tear with hardware releases, both releasing GPUs that have changed the GPU landscape with their power and great pricing.  Today, we will be looking at the RTX 3060 Ti, a mid-range GPU from Nvidia with high expectations as all other 3000 series GPUs are amazingly hard to come by, and it doesn’t hurt to have another option around.  Let’s see how well the 3060 Ti handles various games in 1080p, 1440p, and 4k.   0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Comments TSPhillipT admin December 2020 edited December 2020 Recommendation and Test Bench The 3060 Ti is slated to be similar to a 2080 Super, meaning most mid to high-end processors should pair well with this GPU.  Like the RX 6800 benchmark we did, we will recommend the most recent releases of processors from AMD and Intel, the AMD 5000 Series or the Intel 10th Gen, as they are significantly better than their predecessors.  You can still definitely pair AMD 3000 Series or 9th Gen Intel with the 3060 Ti and still get amazing results but if you have yet to pick out a processor, go with the newer CPUs. For our test bench, we used the AMD Ryzen 5950X as our processor to ensure there were no GPU bottlenecks.  For RAM, we had 16GB of G.Skill RAM set to 3200MHz.  The model of the 3060 Ti we used was the ASUS Tuf 3060 Ti.  Everything was set on an open air test bench.  You can find the parts list for the test bench here. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook TSPhillipT admin December 2020 edited December 2020 Benchmarks No changes were made to the 3060 Ti. We wanted to provide results akin to opening a box and putting the card into your system.  All games were set to their highest graphical settings, excluding motion blur.  We ran the benchmarks for the various games multiple times, and the data shown are the averages of all runs done.  Benchmarking was done using the MSI Afterburner benchmarking tool to log the information. GTA was a bizarre game to benchmark, encountering weird stutters during some of the benchmarking at 1080p and crashes randomly throughout 1080p and 1440p testing.  Ended up running this on DirectX10 rather than DirectX11 as 11 was causing a lot of the issues.  The 1080p 1% Low was consistently low throughout all the benchmarking.  The 1440p 1% Low had high variance, going from 6-55.4 FPS.  The most surprising part was the 4K benchmark, delivering consistent 80FPS for the 1% Low, and experienced no crashes or stutters.  One thing to note is the CPU Bottleneck at 1080p and 1440p, and 4k would be the recommended resolution to be aiming for.   Frametimes are as follow, 1080p; 5.36ms | 1440p; 5.31ms | 4k; 7.25ms  Hitman 2 was a more standard benchmark with expected results based on previous benchmarks.  High framerates at all resolutions and still acceptable frame rate at 4k 60FPS.  The 1% Low for 1080p and 1440p is consistent with previous benchmarks. We attribute the similarity to the game engine.   Frametimes are as follow, 1080p; 7.56ms | 1440p; 9.37ms | 4k; 17.01ms  Average FPS was excellent, which makes the 3060Ti great at all resolutions to use.  Seeing a consistent 1%, Low was weird and couldn’t reproduce this on another test bench with a different GPU.  This is great to ensure that, at the minimum, you see 60FPS.   Frametimes are as follow, 1080p; 6.16ms | 1440p; 7.39ms | 4k; 10.51ms  Horizon Zero Dawn is the most standard of results for our benchmarks.  Lower resolution for more frames at both average and 1% Low.  Also, in the most demanding game that we benched, everything looked great at 1080p and 1440p.  This game did stutter a bit at 4K and probably would be pushing the limit at 4k 60FPS gaming.   Frametimes are as follow, 1080p; 8.67ms | 1440p; 10.85ms | 4k; 18.89ms  0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook TSPhillipT admin December 2020 edited July 13 Conclusions For MSRP $400, this graphics card is pretty good value.  Excelling at 1440p and is completely playable at 4K, this GPU will help usher in the 1440p resolution.  This is performing as expected, with just slightly worse performance than the 3070 for 100$ less, putting this card as one of the leaders at the Mid-Range price range.  Due to the low supply and the 3000 series GPUs' high demand, this card is a great fallback card if you cannot find the higher end cards.  If you are looking to get yourself a 3060 Ti or any other graphics card from us, please visit our Random Selection Process and FAQ for more information! 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Leave a Comment Rich Text Editor. Well here's the answer. According to sales research, most people who used to own RTX 2060/Ss and new builders are the people who are buying them the most other than scalpers and crypto-miners. This show's that NVIDIA is actually struggling a bit because of AMD's recent cards so they were desperate to sell and they made it very affordable. Leaked prices before the brought them out was $449.99. Not $399.99, like they are. So these are the people they were targeting, budget builders. I hope this mini article was informational to ya'll. The cards come in each week but in a limited quantity.  Sometimes the store will get like 30 units and once 30 vouchers are passed out, the card are gone. The best way to get one of the cards is to visit the store multiple days a week, especially before it opens. So that you can at least have a change to get a 3060 or 3000 voucher. Beware there are lines each morning at the store.  0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Sign In or Register to comment. Howdy, Stranger! It looks like you're new here. Please try redeeming it from your email copy by copy/pasting it and that most likely will get it working.  1 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Sign In or Register to comment. Howdy, Stranger! The cards will arrive Wednesday. (12/9)" which was false information. Information that the 5 cards eventually arrived around mid-day became disseminated on discord once the cards sold out and the people on line the previous day arrived around 1-2pm on launch day (12/8) at MC to find out that they had been sold out already.  It is likely that the person in the mentioned ebay listing is conspiring with or is themselves, one of the staff at micro center to be able to get multiple cards on launch day in this fashion. If you look deeper into their listings, they also have TWO 3060 TI's listed for sale. BOTH were listed on launch day, and one was even listed at 12/2 7:22 AM which is BEFORE the 9am launch time/opening time of micro center that day.  EVGA Geforce RTX 3060 Ti FTW3 | eBay Geforce RTX 3060 ti Founder Edition (ebay.com) As one of the customers that was on that line the day before launch and fed false information regarding the inventory arriving on Wednesday resulting in my inability to get the product I would like for micro center to at least investigate this highly suspect situation.  0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Compgeek ✭ December 2020 edited December 2020 Unfortunately, it is not Brooklyn store only - yesterday I was in Tustin CA and asked if it is ever possible to buy 3090 card not from a scalper. Our stores get them in periodically and the best way to currently get a card is visit your local store. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook burlyman69 ✭ January 4 Sadly, visiting your store everyday is not possible for the average working guy.  Only people who camp out every morning waiting to buy up all the cards and then sell them on ebay for a 30-100% markup, manage to buy cards.  It would be nice if you would have a prepay list, as they come in, you go down the list, if not picked up in 24 hours , go to the next person on the list.  There has got to be SOMETHING that can be done. other than "visit your local store" to see all the empty shelves where cards are supposed to be. 1 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook LandShark admin January 4 Until we receive more steady inventory from the manufacturers we doing our best to keep with demand. We are limiting GPUs to 1 per household while supplies are so limited. If you're not able to check your store in-person our recommendation would be to check our website. However, we are typically selling out of these GPUs within minutes of our store opening in the morning. NVIDIA has mentioned that they expect more stock to be available at the beginning of the year. Hopefully, that turns out to be correct! 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook sukasaroth ✭ January 10 My question is, is how soon after something sells out is it updated on the site? However, currently, because we are using vouchers, it's quite possible that customers already have them in their cart, so to speak. I would expect them to be sold out within minutes otherwise. I would not advise the 1.5 hour drive until we start to receive a more steady supply of inventory. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Homam_k5 ✭ January 11 Hey landshark, I decided the only way in going to get a card is it looks like drive 1.5 hours to my local store and camp outside for 4 hours or so. Cause the 3060Ti seems pretty popular. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook TSTDavey admin December 2020 edited December 2020 Hey @SunBro_18 just chiming in. These 3060, 3070, 3080 cards are in very high-demand. To get one from us you literally have to be in the store when the random delivery truck pulls up to deliver the one, two or three 3000 series cards to the store. If you're really wanting to get one of these cards unfortunately you'll have be in store for the above scenario or pay a premium (cost and demand) for this card from a online retailer. Amazon has the 3060 Ti online from different oversea sellers but at a high cost for the card. Its a struggle for retailers to keep this cards stocked. Another option would be to wait till the demand for this card goes down, then attempt to get the card from us or another retailer locally. Just sharing some information. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook SunBro_18 ✭ December 2020 edited December 2020 That was my thought, I am building this pc for my school projects so I was thinking of purchasing a GPU to use for the time being then get the 3060ti when the demand goes down. Do you have a GPU you suggest to get for the time being? 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook LandShark admin December 2020 edited December 2020 My recommendation would be to see if you can find something decent on the used market. Check your local area for what GPUs you might be able to find. Otherwise, I'd see if a friend might be interested in buying your interim GPU from you after a bit of time. You'll be taking a bit of a loss buying new. Might as well help a friend out, right? If you're buying new, I'd recommend somewhere around the $200 range. Blender's system requirements page has a great example of specs recommendations for using these types of programs. https://www.blender.org/download/requirements/ I'd recommend a GPU with at least 4GB of VRAM. (GeForce 400 and newer is required.) Another option for you is the EVGA Step-up program which will allow you to buy a card and then upgrade within 90 days, just pay the difference. Also, struggling to find a graphics card that fits within my budget, so if you think I should trade out some for some cheaper parts to be able to fit the Graphics Card then please tell me. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Comments LandShark admin February 8 Hello @MiYUKi What do you have planned for this build? Based on the information you've shared so far, I'd recommend a few changes and I've included them in this build. https://www.microcenter.com/site/content/custom-pc-builder.aspx?load=5ecfe319-a0ca-41fd-ac73-d6997e7a725e Please let me know if you have any questions. I'd be happy to offer more recommendations once I know what you plan to use it for! 1 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook MiYUKi ✭ February 9 edited February 9 Thanks for the help! Much appreciated! I plan on using this build for gaming and for work, I have a Oculus Quest too and plan on using my PC for VR as well. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook LandShark admin February 9 You're quite welcome! I'd have to say that this is a great build for all of those tasks. While my recommendation is a bit above your minimum for your budget, I see that it's still within it. I think it's a great build for all the tasks that you mentioned and with the 10700k and the 3060 ti, you'll be able to get 100+ fps in many titles at 1080p with max settings and even some at 1440p. The 3060 ti is an impressive card for the price. Please let me know if you have any other questions! 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook MiYUKi ✭ February 9 edited February 9 I think I'll stick with this build! Thanks again for the help, though one thing I'd like to figure out, how well do you think titles like Metro Exodus or Assassin's Creed Unity will run on this? I'm trying to figure out how much this build can handle before slowing down its FPS. Ah, and should I consider Case Fans? 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook LandShark admin February 9 Happy to help! Yeah, this would run well with those titles. Even at 4k, this build should manage Metro Exodus with around 50fps on max settings. I'd expect AC: Unity to get around 65 fps at 4k. Because of this, you could expect higher fps in 2k and much higher in 1080p. As I mentioned, it's a pretty great build! As for case fans, since the case comes with fans I'd say that would be an aesthetic choice. I don't think it's required, but it may offer a small improvement to your thermals if you were to add more. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook MiYUKi ✭ February 9 edited February 9 Just ran into a problem though, from what I've read, the H510i case won't be able to fit the kraken x63 280mm Water Cooling system, but some people I see still use the 280mm in the H510i, so I'm super confused, and I don't know what I should do. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook LandShark admin February 9 I'm not seeing any info about the x63 not fitting, and I do see that the case lists it does support two 140mm front fans. However, if it is a concern for you, I'd recommend going with the x53 https://www.microcenter.com/product/618678/nzxt-kraken-x53-240mm-rgb-water-cooling-kit It's slightly smaller but still offers the great performance of an AIO! 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook MiYUKi ✭ February 9 I thought about changing to the x53, though I now that I did check back on it, like you said, it does supports two 140mm front fans, so I think I'll stick with the x63. Of course, I've also heard problems regarding the Cam software but if anything were to happen, I'll ask around. Lastly, is there anything you think that I should know before going for this build? This is my first time handling water cooling. Fortunately, NZXT has a warranty in case the water system were to leak or be faulty. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook LandShark admin February 9 Most closed-loop systems or AIO coolers are quite robust and will not leak unless there is a serious issue with the AIO. Just be sure that there is not a kink or severe bend in the tubing. Otherwise, as long as you know how to build a regular system I would say that you're all set! Please let us know if you have any questions! 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook MiYUKi ✭ February 9 Something just dawned on me, do I need to install the AIO Water Cooler when breadboarding? 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook LandShark admin February 9 Do you mean when you're out of case testing? I'd recommend that you always have a cooler on the CPU while it is in use. I would use caution anytime you are adding parts to ensure you are working in a static-free environment. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook MiYUKi ✭ February 10 edited February 10 I'm having a really, REALLY tough time trying to find the EVGA GeForce RTX 3060 TI Graphics Card online and in retail stores. They're all sold out. Where should I check to see if its in stock? Edit: I thought about trying to find an Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti, reading that they'll likely be in stock late this month. Thought I might try my luck with that. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook LandShark admin February 10 Most likely they are out of stock at this time, but I'd always recommend checking our website! https://www.microcenter.com/search/search_results.aspx?Ntk=all&sortby=pricelow&N=4294966937+4294808776&myStore=false Unfortunately, they are sold out pretty much everywhere. There is a huge demand for most GPUs right now, and the manufacturers can't keep up with said demand. Hopefully, that is true! It would be great to have more inventory sooner than later. I'd love to see more RTX and RX builds! 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook MiYUKi ✭ February 10 No luck... Every single one I've looked at, even the one's over my budget, are all sold out. If you have any questions about this while you're compiling parts in our store, you're more than welcome to chat with an associate in our BYO department.  They would be happy to compare and confirm all the measurements for these parts while you're in-store! Based on the specifications from the parts and the manufacture's website, I can see no issues. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Thellorch ✭ January 7 Ok, thank you so much, for all the advice👍🏼 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook LandShark admin January 7 You're quite welcome! 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook «12» Sign In or Register to comment. I noticed that my RAM was hitting max usages of 90%+ most nights of gaming/streaming. So, I bought x2 additional sticks of the same 8gb sticks that I have been using for years. Upgrading from 16gb to 32gb. When I insert the x2 new sticks, my motherboard has an orange/yellow light that I believe means that there is an issue with the RAM and it will not boot. I reset the x2 new stick and no luck. I took out 1 stick (so now using 3) and it boots up just fine! I replace that 1 with the other new 1 and it boots up again. Repeat the process in the unused RAM slot and everything works when I use 3 sticks, but not 4... anyone have any idea as to why this would be? Parts listed below. Constantly pushing for the days that I will see this in my hands. So I tend to stick with msi products as they have never let me down. I specifically went with intel bcause their oc capabilities have always been top notch while maintaining excellent temps and if im pushing for extra frames this would be perfect. The 3080 oc would be perfect along with the g-sync monitor I've chosen for games and graphic designing. The corsair case along with the Vengenace rgb ram and the water cooling aio have always been personal favorites, so in my dream build this case, ram, and aio is apart of it. The red mouse and keyboard combo along with red extensions cables replicates my intense firey desire to acquire this build. I went specifically with nvme ssd memory they are lot faster and use less power than your typical ssd sata drives. I chose an 850w power supply to make sure that I maintain the power I need when Overclocking, if needed. Anyways, enough about this. I will primarily be using this PC for school work and to game, and maybe start streaming or YouTube. I chose the Ryzen 5 3600 as it is a good 6 core processor for both gaming and streaming. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 will go great with this cpu for gaming, as it will get good frame rates on medium to high settings on almost any game. I chose 2*8 3200 mhz ram as 16gb is pretty much the minimum for gaming/intensive workloads. A 650 watt power supply will be good enough for this build. Because I game in my room and the wifi box is in the living room downstairs, I decided to go with a b550m motherboard with wifi. The case I chose looks like it is good for air flow as it comes with four included fans, as well as a lot of USB ports and audio ports. Finally I chose to go with a 1tb ssd as there will be plenty of space for games, software, and other things. https://www.microcenter.com/site/content/custom-pc-builder.aspx?load=4c62e2c4-9956-459a-b0f7-0835329d67f7 1 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook JPSHRACER ✭ December 2020 I went to Micro Center November 2020 to build a new custom built gaming and workstation computer. However, I was not able to purchase all the parts I wanted. Certain parts were out of stock. Other parts were out of my budget. This is my wish list and dream list of my custom built gaming computer. The AMD Ryzen 5900X is my choice for a fast multicore processor and they made upgrades with the memory arrangement with AMD 4th Generation Ryzen. The Corsair 64 GB 3200Mhz offers enough Random Access Memory (RAM) for years to come. The EVGA GeForce RTX 3060 TI, 3070 or 3080 offers enough graphical performance for modern day video games also for years to come. The Corsair Power Supply 850 Watt provides enough power to drive the gaming components. The Samsung EVO 2TB Non Volatile Memory Express (NVMe) Solid State offers blazing fast speeds for the operating system and my most important video games. The SanDisk 4TB Solid State (SSD) offers enough storage for my documents, photos, games and more. It is still the more affordable mass storage. The NZXT H510 Elite has the most case fans and they are RGB. Plus, it had the front panel and side panel tempered glass displaying everything. The Elgato 4K60 capture card offers capturing my Xbox One X screenshots and videos as a hobby to post to Twitter and YouTube. The Viewsonic XG2530 25 inch 1080p 240hz offers the 1080p experience I know however it increases the frame limit to 240 frames per second potential. I wish the Viewsonic XG2760 27 inch 1440p 165hz Nvidia G-Sync monitor was still available at Micro Center. That means for games like PlanetSide 2 and MechWarrior Online that I will have the most possible frames in my online multiplayer games! As Nvidia marketing states “More Frames Win Games” and I agree totally! I also play the Watch Dogs franchise including Watch Dogs, Watch Dogs 2 and coming someday to Steam Watch Dogs Legion. Antigraviator and Pacer (formerly Formula Fusion) are my favorite futuristic racing games. Battlefield Bad Company 2, Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, Need for Speed (2015), Need for Speed Heat and The Sims 4 are some of my favorite Electronic Arts titles that I play on my new custom built gaming computer.   I was extremely happy with my purchasing experience at Micro Center for the build I was actually able to build with AMD Ryzen 3900X, ASUS X570 Hero Non-WiFi, Corsair 64GB 3200Mhz, Samsung 500GB NVMe, SanDisk 2TB SSD, Corsair 750 Watt White PSU, Elgato 4K60 Pro and NZXT H510 Elite White. Thank you to all the Micro Center employees that helped me with my purchase. The Micro Center Build Service for assembling it. I cannot wait to go back again in the future!   If I won the $1000 gift card I would upgrade to both a Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 and Viewsonic XG2530 25 inch monitor 240 frames per second. The monitor would be the most important for currently upgrading my new custom built gaming computer with the ability to see more frames with my MSI GeForce RTX 2060. This build is called white christmas because every component has been painstakingly selected to be as white as possible and run as cool as possible in the theme of a bright snowy christmas morning. The Lian LI O11D XL White case was selected due to its white painted inner chassis and spectacular glass greenhouse, perfect for a build like this that one would want to flaunt like a piece of expensive modern furniture. It features a 5950x paired with the new ROG STRIX AIO cooler white edition. One of the few AIO white coolers on the market made by ASUS ROG, nothing less. The GPU is a GIGABYTE 3080 VISION. Since the 3080 Vision was not available in the PC builder, I chose its very close sister the 3080 EAGLE which shares similar parts, specs, and design cues. It also claims the title of the only white RTX 3000 series card available, and has an absolutely gorgeous minimalist cooler design that matches the motherboard. As for the motherboard, there is only one minimalist white am4 motherboard on the market. That's the Gigabyte B550 VISION. The breathtaking minimalist design does not grab the attention of your eye away from the main attractions of the build, the CPU and GPU while offering uncompromising board features. Of course for a white build you have to go with the crucial ballistix white RGB sticks. 64gb of it. When uncompromising performance is important the crucial sticks provide unmatched value due to their excellent overclocking potential. A close second choice is the corsair Vengeance white RGB ram which is rated out of the box for even higher memory speeds. And now for a component that few have ever been able to get in white until very recently: the newly launched ASUS ROG STRIX 750w PSU white edition. Featuring even white PSU cables! Although you will never see this part of the build inside the lian li 011D where the PSU is behind the motherboard, you can sleep well at night knowing that every nook and cranny has been color matched. But just to add a little bit more spice to the build, I've also decided to throw in the Lian Li Strimer RGB PSU cables!  To add the finishing touches to the tower, I selected 6 corsair sickleflow 120 RGB white edition fans to add even more RGB flare while providing excellent intake air flow. And finally I selected the cablemod 600mm rgb led strip kit for more ambient case lighting. But of course matching all the tower components isn't quite enough, we also need to get all the peripherals! It features the Samsung G9 ultrawide which features a stunning white back. As for the Keyboard & mouse, I have selected the Logitech G915 and G305 wireless keyboard and mouse to maintain the minimalist white theme. But wait, there's more. Why not get white audio peripherals while we're at it!? For this I've selected the ASUS ROG gaming headphones in white as well as the Kanto-Living YU2 speakers for uncompromising Hi-fi audio while also matching the theme. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Berfs1 ✭ December 2020 https://www.microcenter.com/site/content/custom-pc-builder.aspx?load=12e3242c-49ba-43a8-8893-f812302e6c9a I made this PC list for streaming and video editing, and while the stuff may seem "overkill", this is a dream PC. This PC list is made for actual workstation usage, hence why I have an odd combination of CPU and GPU, because this has (mostly) all the parts it needs, nothing that it doesn't. CPU: I intentionally chose a 3970X as I would use this as a dedicated streaming/editing PC. The 3970X has 32 cores and 64 threads, which maxes out the limits of Windows. Yes you could get a 3990X and disable HT just to get around that limitation, but that just means you have a lot higher power consumption and only barely more performance, NTM it is double the price. I would use this for x264 encoding for streaming, and this would be a killer CPU for video editing as well! CPU Cooler: Enermax Liqtech II 360 TR4 is one of the only AIOs specifically designed for TR4, and can actually handle 500W+ of heat output that the 3970X, when overclocked, will produce. Therefore, this is one of the only AIOs that would even be advisable for Threadrippers. Thermal Compound: I have used IC Diamond numerous times, it has been my go-to thermal compound since it is one of the best compounds out there, and it allows for extremely low idle temperatures, as well as low heat transfer rate acceleration, so temperatures don't spike nearly as high as typical thermal compounds. Motherboard: I chose the Asus Zenith Extreme II really because it is 300$, and the only difference between this and the Alpha version is the 90A power stages (the original has 70A, which is still plentiful for the 3970X). Also, it has an incredible selection of I/O ports, as well as a lot of possible PCIe lane configurations. Memory: I chose 2 kits of 4x16GB 3600 MHz CL18 Ripjaws V RAM since I would need the capacity (total 128GB) and the high bandwidth for video editing. Also, it does NOT have RGB, which is a plus for me because I am not aiming for RGB everything, just subtle RGB accents here and there. Case: The Thermaltake View 51 looks amazing, and can handle a 360mm radiator in the top, but mainly I am choosing this for the overall aesthetics this case provides. Graphics Card: The RTX 3060 Ti because, it wasn't that much more than an RTX 2060; I only needed the minimum GPU with tensor cores (for NVIDIA broadcast and other AI functions), and while the 2060 is cheaper, RTX 3060 Ti would be the more sensible out of the two since it is only like 50$ more but has much better performance. Storage: The SN850 1TB would be for the boot drive and since it is PCIe 4.0, I would be able to feasibly use part of it as a page-file since video editing can take a bunch of memory. The 860 Evo 4TB was chosen because it has the DRAM cache, and I would use this mainly as the editing drive. And the 10TB WD Purple was chosen because it is a CMR drive, and I would use that for recording and storing finished videos. Because this particular hard drive has CMR, and not the gruesome SMR (which will drop your transfer speeds to like 15MBps, which is unacceptable for my use), it can actually handle a whopping 250MBps+ of sustained transfer rates! Power Supply: The Corsair RM850 is one of the best power supplies Micro Center offers (at least the one I had selected), and while I would have liked to see a 1000W or 1200W option, the 850W actually should be fine since I only put a 3060 Ti and not something super power heavy. My calculations show that this system can take a peak power draw of ~950W, but that estimate is mainly for what power supply to choose, and an 850W will be perfectly fine for this system. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook charlesg2 ✭ December 2020 just wanting to upgrade from what i have,  https://www.microcenter.com/site/content/custom-pc-builder.aspx?load=20f628c0-ffec-4f65-b595-e6d9753ccaf4 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook 360noscopeoogabooga_ ✭ December 2020 edited December 2020 https://www.microcenter.com/site/content/custom-pc-builder.aspx?load=cb5404de-3315-4daf-9b72-c47fbe8eca6d Balls to the walls, best workstation for the highest price. I think $15,000 is the most expensive build I've seen so far, and that's the definition of a dream PC. But also, respect for all the legit builds. There's some really cool ideas floating around if you're looking to start working on a new PC! 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook SuitedWolf ✭ December 2020 https://www.microcenter.com/site/content/custom-pc-builder.aspx?load=f5fb1c9d-3227-4092-b659-fb600b2af899 I chose this combination as it would likely be decent for my goals. I want to work towards a PC around this spec to be able to use it for 3D rendering and also be able to play some more intense games. This budget is still fairly high for me, but I'm working towards it. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Deaner1121 ✭ December 2020 https://www.microcenter.com/site/content/custom-pc-builder.aspx?load=e6bd2144-1508-4d5b-8245-50bb6f5a6286 These are the parts I would really like to have in my pc. For VR you'll need at the minimum 4gb of RAM, better to have 8gb of RAM and a GTX 1060 gpu. Unfortunately we don't carry any system that meets the VR minimum for $500. We have a HP omen that will meet the VR minimum for $799.99 (Sku# 115683). You may be able to build your own PC with an I3-10100 CPU, Asrock H410M motherboard, DDR4-2666 8gb stick, a 512gb sSD sata drive, Rosewell FBM-x tower, gtx 1050 GPU, and a Powerspec 650 watt 80 plus Power supply; this should get you at maybe $20-$30 over $500 ($530). The operating system (Windows 10) cost will get you for $119.99. MC can build it for $149.99 for if you don't build it yourself. For a decent VR system, you'll need about $800-$900 (pre-built or custom build). 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook baseball_14 ✭ February 26 Hi, I am building a PC for the first time and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. Welcome to the community! If you're looking to play a game like Arma 3, you'll need a GPU. Typically, adding mods to a game with increase the demand on a systems performance. With a budget of $1500, I'd recommend this build: https://www.microcenter.com/site/content/custom-pc-builder.aspx?load=96b96b95-04a0-449a-8cc0-7473d6725df0 It would offer you solid performance in Arma 3 and you'd be able to have a GPU while still staying within budget. Hope this helps. 0 · Share on TwitterShare on Facebook Leave a Comment Rich Text Editor. To edit a paragraph's style, hit tab to get to the paragraph menu.
