It's a long story involving tragedy, the united nations, and a lot of nutella - but needless to say my crypto endeavors did not pan out for the positive. None of that is the fault of my remarkable crypto mining rig, however.$614.95 -

In hindsight, while the emphasis on cost-efficient drives and easy assembly served its purpose, I'd consider incorporating more robust cooling solutions for better temperature management during prolonged gaming or streaming sessions. Future upgrades might involve investing in higher-end graphics cards and expanding storage to accommodate larger game libraries and 4K content.$2,399.87 -

I built it because I wanted to play some of the latest and greatest titles, and to have as my Plex media server. Runs everything you throw at it and then some, I've had this pc with its parts for over a year now, of course getting the parts at Micro Center. Great for high refresh rate too. Named it Dark Storm because when you look at it you think of blackened storm clouds and then the hints of RGB can be seen as kind of lightning strikes that you would see in a dark storm cloud.$1,649.87 -

I build this pc with the most basic parts ever I tried building this to show its very easy to make/get a pc these days. This PC is special cause I found this out near a dumpster and I found it having all the parts a gpu cpu etc. I took it home and tested it and luckily it worked. It had a i5-4440 and a gt 1030 w 16gb ddr3 ram. This build has came so far now with me upgrading the gpu to a gtx 970 which made it way better and now I call it the sleeper because of the looks of it.$461.97 -

I built it back in February 2020 with friends, my entire friend group has always been in love with computers and when I finally got the money to build my own everyone helped out. It's decorated with all sorts of random stickers and nick-nacs, D&D/game themed pins and even an old pocket watch on the front. As far as games go you name it, I've got a capture card so I can play ps2 games through OBS. A true assortment of games to say the least, Minecraft, Foundry, Space engineers, Dishonored, Half life (both older half life games and half life alyx on pcvr), Metro games, Phas, Mirror edge... the list goes on for miles. There is not much to say on what I would want different, I will likely upgrade the gpu and cpu in the future but that feels years and years away from now. Regardless of what game I try to throw at it from when I built it to now, the system holds up. All that has changed with it from the day I first turned it on is the addition of another 2x8gb RAM kit, another 2TB HDD and a noctua cooler. Compared to the laptop I had previously this feels like owning a super computer. I went from a 940m laptop gpu and an i7-5500U which at the time of building my pc would idle at 80-100% cpu usage when running anything including a single chrome tab to a computer where I can host a dedicated space engineers server for me and my friends to play on together blows my mind to this day.$1,695.19 -

I've always wanted to have a NAS and a plex server and I deciced to go the DIY route. This will be my first foray into both and I also plan on using it as a playground to learn about virtual machines and more. The current plan is to install unraid and add plex as an app then in the future I'll mess with things such as a minecraft server or home camera system. The chassis is rack mountable and is made by a company called myelectronics based in europe.$553.95 -

I decided that I did not want to spend money on a pc so I went to facebook marketplace and Letgo where over the course of the last few months I was able to get free pc parts from various different sellers. So the following pictures and parts are the culmination of my work of collecting free PC parts that I will eventually turn into my own server. The CPU and motherboard are from an old Lenovo Erazer prebuilt PC. I plan to add more hard drives so that it can function as a true server.$0.00 -

This PC was sort of a collection of impulse purchases that I ultimately built into a complete rig to sell once completed. It turned out quite well and looked both tasteful and professional thanks to the LianLi Lancool 205m mesh case with included RGB fans. I've been a big fan of the lancool 205 series and the 205m mesh is one of my favorite affordable cases of late. The pairing of Ryzen 5 3600 and RX 6800 is a little odd but worked out to be great for 1440p gaming or light 4k gaming in games that are less CPU intensive, while saving power and money. Everything runs cool and quiet for this build, and the total came in less than $700 at the time of building thanks to Microcenter bundle discounts.$754.94 -

I recently wanted to upgrade my graphics card and let the upgrade creep get me. Ended up building a new computer. This one is now a mini ITX and I use it for gaming, a media server and some smart home automation virtual hubs. I got lucky that the graphics card fit (so long as I put the fans last) as I had already bought it about a month prior to getting the case.$1,238.92 -

This system started as a prebuilt, which I upgraded over the years, the only original component being the motherboard. I currently use it for gaming and everyday use, though I'm planning to re-purpose it when I build a Ryzen 7000 system. The games I mainly use it for are SCP: Secret Laboratory, Minecraft, Forza Horizon 4/5, ULTRAKILL, Skyrim, Arma 3, Kerbal Space Program, VTOL VR, H3VR, BeamNG.drive, Tarkov, Gmod, and Ready or Not, just to name a few. I'm going to re-purpose it into a Minecraft/SCP:SL server and NAS computer.$992.95
