The first build was a non water cooling build over 12 years ago with the first i7 processor line that came out. Since then I've been pretty hooked into PC gaming as a whole. Previously I had a gaming laptop so going from laptop to desktop was a huge change, so big I wondered how on earth I was using a laptop for so many years. Fast forward 2019. I've now graduated from college, got a job, and have money for once in my life. I'm still all the time following youtubers like LinusTechTips and whatnot and always just following the latest tech, always seeing glamorous PC builds. From watching those videos everyday for years, I always wanted to feel the awesomeness of a proper high end build. So it was a dream of mine to build something that would be a gaming beast and a huge upgrade from my previous build as well. I wanted to go pretty much all out, no compromises but within a reasonable budget as I'm just not loaded with cash. I had to save up for this for well over a year. I started buying things slowly overtime with all my peripherals like my keyboard, mouse, chair, table, and stuff. Last piece was going to be the main PC itself and monitor upgrade. I bought things with the idea in my head, one and done. Like if I buy this, I'm not going to want to replace it at all. It was exactly what I would have wanted in my dream scenario. Then came time where I was ready to buy, and Ryzen 3000 was about to launch. I've been doing months of just looking at PC parts and watching youtube reviews of every part so I knew exactly what I would want. I've been watching many build videos, even bought PC Building Simulator so I can practice building since I didn't want to have someone else build my pc for me. I went to Microcenter right on launch day, July 7th and bought myself a Ryzen 3900X, with a brand new x570 motherboard, fancy new pcei gen 4.0 5gb/s m.2 ssd. I got the works, then two days later I picked up the brand new RTX 2070 Super on launch day and got the monitor to go along with it. Certainly can't afford a 2080ti but that gpu was powerful enough and at a good price point where it wasn't terrible performance per dollar. I didn't go overkill with any part of this PC, everything I use 100% to the fullest. I game almost everyday on it. I like to stream as well on occasion. I want to make youtube videos on it. I use it for school and work. This thing just flies through everything I throw at it. I love it. Any changes I would make to the build would simply be adding another 16gb of ram to it. I'm for sure going to buy the new RTX 3080 and plug that into my PC. I'll eventually add in another m.2 ssd eventually and one that'll be even faster. I also wish to add in a good standard ssd as well, my current standard ssd in it is unfortanetly dramless which I didn't really know about at the time, and I feel like when running games on that it acts not as well as an ssd should. I wish that my cpu cooler and the fans with it would sync up with my other devices, also my mouse and speakers so it would be all one light sync.$4,637.79 -

It was the days of the 386 and 486s had just come on the market. The PC I took to college was a 386 DX40 with the extra math coprocessor, 4MB of RAM and a 40MB hard drive. However, as I got older, I guess I got lazy and succumbed to the prebuilts, buying a mix of Dells, Gateways and even an Apple or two. Fast forward 25 years and my decade old PC was struggling to keep up, so I decided it was time to get a new one. Since my my pre-teen daughter is taking an interest in technology and digital art, I wanted to build a PC with her so she can start learning all the components' names and functions. Who knows, maybe one day she'll want to build one of her own. It all went together within an afternoon and should be easy to maintain thanks to the case design and layout. It's not a gamer, show piece but it will plow through all the Adobe and animation applications I can throw at it. I'm not a gamer, so this was spec'ed more for creativity, rendering and to help support my hobby as a photographer. The benchmarks were done right after installing the OS, with no overclocking or tweaking of any kind. While the machine is up and running, the space towards the front where many people mount a vertical 360 radiator is empty, so I'm toying with the idea of making something with my 3D printer and a sheet of acrylic to give it a little personalized flare. I had an older desktop that ran an i5 and the GTX1060 with a standard monitor. With this build, I wanted to upgrade more on the internal parts as well as my monitor to give myself a great computer that would run everything I needed. However, I did not upgrade the CPU to a high-end processor or the video card as I built it around a budget as well as what would satisfy my needs. However, my upgrade itch did cause me to expand from one regular monitor to three 27” MSI curved gaming monitors. In addition, since it was a gaming machine, I wanted to add some flair with RGB, so I did incorporate that into the build. Currently, I am using it to play World of Warcraft, Skyrim, PUBG and Star Citizen (Beta). So far, this machine has run everything I have thrown at it and has met every expectation I wanted.$3,678.98 -

I may have sacrificed a bit in performance for aesthetic, as water cooling and high-end RGB components are not cheap. I currently play games such as Red Dead Redemption 2, Assassins Creed: Odyssey, Monster Hunter: World, the Dishonored franchise, GTAV, and plan on getting Cyberpunk 2077 when it releases. I am in the process of upgrading my GPU from the 980ti to a RTX 2070 Super, and recently upgraded my monitors from a 24" LG 1080p 70Hz and Asus 27" 2k 60Hz to dual LG Ultragear 27" 144hz 1440p monitors. Sadly, with the GPU upgrade, I will be converting from water cooling to all air cooling, with plans to add an AIO CPU cooler down the road.$3,605.92 -

I originally built this computer when I was 12, with an FX 8350 and GTX 950. Over the years though it’s been through many... I originally built this computer when I was 12, with an FX 8350 and GTX 950. Over the years though it’s been through many changes as my interest grew. The first real upgrade was to a GTX 1060 for VR, then I got a Ryzen 7 1700 when Zen launched, and when mining exploded I got in early enough with my modest little machine to buy a 1070. Between those mining Etherium I saved up enough to sell those and get a EVGA 1080 TI Hybrid. I then traded my dad for one of his MSI Armour 1080 TI he had after mining died (since he was one of the weirdos who bought 10 graphics cards for it) and a small Corsair AIO since it seemed to be a better overclocker than my hybrid. That’s actually still the card I have today (yes the list says 2070 super it’s just the closest thing to it). Then when Zen 2 came out, I showed up on launch day and got me a 3700x. As luck would have it my motherboard didn’t get the bios update so I had to get a new one, and at the time the cheapest one with a post code read out was the behemoth of a board that is the Crosshair VIII. It wasn’t a wise purchasing decision if I’m being honest but I love the board nonetheless (even if the overclocking buttons don’t work as advertised). The reason I put this build here as new, is because one, I’ve never posted it before, and two, I just rebuilt the entire thing in an 011 Dynamic with custom water cooling. Another enormous waste of money, but one I love nonetheless. I think the theme here is to have fun with the computer not on the computer. With the new loop, and the 20$ gpu block, t-die is 40 degrees in time spy extreme fully overclocked. I now hold the world record in my hardware config (aside from a guy who somehow hacked 3D mark and is 2000 points above stock at stock clocks). Other than the cooling though, I also modified the current sense circuit for the 2 8 pin pcie power connectors by piggybacking some 8 miliohm resistors on top of the existing ones. This means under full load the card thinks it’s only using 80% of its (already modded through vbios) 120% Limit, stopping gpu boost from hitting power or thermal limits ever. I love this thing and I can’t wait to play with Zen 3 when it comes out, a unified ccd is going to be a whole new adventure to tinker with. A couple of notes before I go though, my TIM is not liquid metal, it’s Kryonaut, Cunductonaut was just the closest thing in stock. Additionally I don’t have the gigabyte SSD, I have a Sabrant Rocket that I got for way cheaper and actually has 50000 iops on the one in the build list. Lastly, the RGB on the fans is from Phanteks Halos that microcenter also doesn’t sell, but turns the beastly Vardar fans into something with really good rgb (the EK rgb Vardars only have one set of leds that aren’t individually addressable).$3,514.45 -

Then it came from a d15 chromax air cooling to now a custom loop build. The gpu doesnt have a water block on it because its used as a temporary card until the 3090. The loop might change depending on how big those 3000 series cards are going to be. There might be or a good chance that im going to swap the 240mm leviathan for 2 360mm leviathans depending on the 3090 temps. The water block is most likely going to get picked up from bykski with a temp reader replacing the original in and out piece. I am going to order another nf-f12 ippc 3k rpm for the 360 leviathan and 3 more for the second one. so far thats the plan im thinking about might add bits of accessories like flow readers or a bitspower hexagon.$3,304.47 -

2020 was the right time to completely overhaul my Gaming Rig. As an RGB fan and a Corsair fanboy through and through I... 2020 was the right time to completely overhaul my Gaming Rig. As an RGB fan and a Corsair fanboy through and through I decided to go all in. As a Microcenter employee there was no better place to get everything I needed all at once than my own store in St.Davids PA. Every component I selected was carefully planed out with advice from our BYO staff to fit MY needs and desires , not theirs. It is very easy to become overwhelmed by the sheer number of options and frills or to even understand WHY one component would be a better fit over one that is seemingly the same. This is a 1440p focused gaming rig that can chew through any new AAA title with features maxed and mid range titles at excess of 120fps without breaking a sweat. Because Ryzen and RTX chips take advantage of thermal throttling to maintain consistent performance I decided on a fully Corsair Hydro X hard line liquid cooling loop. With this configuration my GPU idles at 27c and under a full load caps out at 42c and my CPU idles at around 38c and caps out at 68c under load. By maintaining temps below the thermal threshold while under load I can be comfortable knowing that I am getting every mhz of potential power I paid for. As a fan of corsair peripherals and their ICUE rgb system I chose a 680x case. Because corsair believes in broad compatibility every fan and cooling component has various options for placement. That is not to say if you are going Hydro X that you have to use a corsair case. Cases are like shoes, you like what you like. At the same time , dont start with the case unless you are doing a SFF build... Pick the parts you want and find a case you like that both accommodates the current build but provides you with enough flexibility to make future upgrades if need be. I also opted to place 2x 2tb Inland Premium NVME SSDs in RAID 0 , not for performance as the gains are negligible, but for the vanity reason of having a single 4tb drive to install everything to the same drive letter. This is one extravagance I strongly recommend against if you are unfamiliar with maintaining a raid as you may find yourself in a situation where you could loose everything and need to rebuild it. IF you do opt for a NVME RAID configuration , do so knowing that on X570 chipsets currently you must disconnect all SATA devices from the motherboard every time you update the BIOS or revert back to default BIOS settings for any reason or the machine will not post. Hard line liquid cooling can be daunting and can seriously damage components if any one component is not installed properly, but this build could just as easily been done with safer albeit less visually appealing soft tubes. The service departments in Microcenter stores will also work with you to design and assemble a custom cooling loops. It takes a lot of time and patience to make the proper bends to make a truly awe inspiring build and our people really know their stuff. As someone who has been liquid cooling computers since Koolance began making consumer products (20 years?) I was over confident and opted to do it myself. But again every tool and material I needed was available in store for my immediate satisfaction. You may however notice that despite my experience and even with careful and meticulous planning and measuring one of my bends ended up a little bit off. While I fully intend to replace the run, it doesn't look bad at all. The reason I did not replace it before filling is quite simple, these bends were a test run for my even more daunting next attempt... A no angled fitting glass tube run (start TBD). I also intend to swap the motherboard and pcie power cables with cablemods colored cloth braided extensions. COVID-19 has brought much of the world to a halt but Microcenter has been open through it all and we will continue to serve the country in making sure you can get all of the technology needed to keep working and be entertained in your own home. *some components are not availble via the part selector so i included current SKUs in the comments so that you may search microcenter.com . I also omitted peripherals but I utilize all corsair. After years of running a completely enclosed case with no rgb whatsoever, I decided that I was going to go all out on my next build. I play a variety of games, but my favorites are RPGs, Sci-Fi, and FPS. My main rotation right now is Destiny 2, Doom Eternal, The Witcher 3, and Red Dead Redemption 2. I decided that I wanted to upgrade everything about my pc for the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 game. I have been patiently waiting for years for this game, and with the release of the 30 series RTX graphics cards it seemed as though the stars had aligned. I started planning this build in February when rumors of the 30 series cards began to circulate. Little did I know that the world would soon descend into chaos, with massive lockdowns and shortages on electronics. On top of that, I work in the radio-pharmaceuticals industry, and was deemed an essential employee. I found myself working 12-16 hour shifts due to staff shortages, and each night I would come home and check the online stores to see if any of my pc parts were available. Slowly but surely, parts began to trickle in, and I began assembly in August. I was methodical in my building process, routing each cable to its destination, bundling and unbundling cables as I added more components. I wanted the pc to be an extension of myself, to stand out and show the hard work and love that I'd put into its creation. As it neared completion, it dawned on me that I had, in a way, embraced the cyberpunk lifestyle. Man and machine, working into the early morning hours, tinkering and improving, making sure everything is perfect. And so, the build is now complete. The only component that was reused was my EVGA 2070 Super, but I'm still hopeful that I can get my hands on a 3080 before the release of Cyberpunk 2077.$2,791.84 -

After a solid month of research and Microcenter’s pc builder I pulled the trigger. The X570 motherboard has plenty of room for expansion and upgrades. Combined with AMD chip allows utilization of gen 4 M.2. Pcie slots allow for future graphics card upgrades. 850w power supply leaves plenty of headroom for expansion and upgrades. In order to stay in budget I sacrificed slightly on graphics card. Won’t effect functionality until switching to 2020 software upgrade later in 2021. Also saved on ram and case. Pretty pleased with case airflow. Need to swap fans to push air thru radiator but case is a pain and don’t want to remove cooler from cpu again. Rewired entire build after a couple weeks. Plenty of room and openings to secure groups based on type or location of wire origin. Ram’s ok. Will upgrade to 32g cards eventually and move to lower latency. When said and done I have a solid workhorse that will carry me thru several future upgrades and remain software capable for several years. Took one nerve racking night and an afternoon to assemble. The education of hands on assembly and initial setup was worth the cost to play. Didn’t fry anything!$2,559.90 -

I have been an avid PC gamer the entire time. Starting out with simple games like IRON HELIX and now I just play a lot of Sea of Thieves, PUBG, WoW, Rocket League, and Diablo 3. I originally was not going to build a new PC. But given current scenario of our country I needed to have a space to work from home and my son needed a computer to do his school work from home. I work in I.T. and mostly deal with remote support now, and I am a Jamf administrator and in control of devices for over 17,000 staff and students at my place of employment. While I was parting out my sons "budget" build for school work and gaming, it became apparent a lot of 'budget' parts had shot up in price, so I made the decision to just build myself a new flagship, and give him my previous 7700k build. The only thing I wish I could have done differently was buy a 2080 Super, but they haven't been in stock for a couple weeks at my local store.$2,356.90 -

I mainly play Rocket League but when I need a break from the game, I play Call of Duty: Cold War, and a little bit of Valorant. There aren't too many games I play with being on my college's Rocket League roster. I am also a content creator on Twitch and am going to school to be a content creator for my college. When I am not gaming, I am using this computer as my computer, whether it is doing school work, watching YouTube or twitch, or just surfing the web. As for upgrades, I would definitely upgrade my GPU when I get the chance and money. When I went to get my parts, back in late October 2020, my GPU of choice, NVidia GeForce RTX 2070, was out of stock, so I went with AMD Radeon 5700 XT. Its a nice machine with a little small radiator but will work well for mid level gaming. The motherboard was already in the case with CPU, RAM, CPU cooler and SSD installed but the RAM had to be switched around for the correct slots and the standoffs in the motherboards had to be tightened as they were bending the board. Afterwards the machine looks nice and clean.$2,164.88
