I originally had a rig that I built over 7 years ago and felt it was about time to upgrade, but this time, I wanted something that was a little more eye catching and clean. It use to be mainly for gaming but as time went on and my kids have grown up, I’ve moved onto building them their own rigs and have had less time to enjoy my own, but had to have the best looking one, as I am dada. I managed to find most of the parts for this build during peak of the pandemic, so I feel it is really special to me to have finished it during that time, but I am still on the hunt to find myself a Vision card to complete the look I originally wanted.

I originally got into PC gaming around 4 years ago, and I started out with a crappy ASUS laptop that wasn't even meant to handle games and a wireless mouse that I borrowed from my mom. After a while I got a new keyboard/mouse and a good ROG monitor. Then I finally got rid of the ASUS laptop and got a MSI gaming laptop for X-Mas 2 years ago, which after expanding the range of games I played, couldn't handle some of the games. So that's when I started to think about getting a PC. So for Christmas and my birthday I saved up everything and spent months researching. Now this is my first build and also my first tower so I was a bit confused here and there with certain parts but I think it turned out all right, I mean it turns at least so that's something.

I recently got back into PC building in 2020 (Last Build was 2012) and a friend told me about these youtubers that have build guides so I checked out Jayz2cents, and quickly found myself subscribing to Bitwit, Pauls Hardware, GamersNexus, Austin Evans, and of course Linus Tech Tips. I was hooked and really appreciate how all of these channels try to vary their content but all exist in the same space in a friendly way. I've built 6 systems for friends and family since then and most recently updated my personal system which is the white and black system in the O11 Mini. This system was upgraded after I camped out at Microcenter in January 2021 and was lucky enough to get an RTX 3070 Strix White Edition. The Lian Li TU150 was the 1.0 version of this computer before the 3070. I had purchased an ASUS Strix RTX 2060 Super but sold it last summer after I got the 3070. So hopefully that makes sense why I needed to upgrade to a case with better Air flow. The ITX build was fun but just was a hot box! I use this system for gaming, fun, learning, and general entertainment. Initially started with a 2060super and 3600x in an NZXT H510. After over a year of upgrades and changes I finally feel comfortable with what's inside right now. I mean, who wouldn't feel happy with a 3080FTW3 Ultra and a 5600x? The case was the last big upgrade for me, and that was back in February. I just wanted a case with some spaciousness as well as nice airflow. This case provided both well.

I wanted to get into the PC world for a while now, and finally decided to build one. I went to microcenter in Brentwood, MO and was amazed at the professionalism of the staff. I already kew what I wanted, so that made it easier on the process. I am a college student, so I also wanted something that I could use for both work and play, and this PC has exceeded my expectations.

I built this PC to replace my laptop that is about 9 years old, and slow as Christmas. I'm not a gamer whatsoever, so I just went with the Ryzen 5 5600G processor, and the picture is perfect for me! This is my first build, but I'm very satisfied with the speed. I don't think I could have purchased any box computer for less than $1,700 - $1,800.

While I've made quite a few changes, this is technically the first PC I've ever built (depending on how you look at it), and definitely my first go at custom water cooling. I started putting her together around December 2020, and have been gradually acquiring and swapping out parts. Iteration 1 had no WC, was in the original Meshify C, a Coolermaster Hyper 212 Black, and a GTX 1060 I borrowed from my old Alienware. Since then, I've been lucky enough to get my hands on a 3080, and threw together a custom loop that I'm very proud of given the cramped nature of the case it's in. Unfortunately, the RGB strip in the GPU water block has died on me, so I may be missing a few FPS, as well as the aesthetic I was going for. The games I play most on here are Splitgate and Immortals Fenyx Rising, and Halo Infinite once that comes out. I plan to update the paint on the front panel to be a bit more elaborate soon, similar to what Linus did for his Intel Gamer Days build, and I may paint the MoBo and RAM heatsinks soon as well.

This is my first ever PC build and I wanted it to be a powerful PC but stay around my budget of $1000. I built it as a gaming and editing rig for my YouTube videos since I had only had the PS4 (base model) before which doesn't do that good with many games, due to being underpowered, but my new PC runs circles around it. It's more than I could have hoped for, even if it doesn't have the highest end hardware. I also got it as a Christmas present last year which has to be the best Christmas present i've ever gotten! Right now I mainly play Ark: Survival evolved which my Graphics card takes to the next level with mostly "epic" settings. I play some Minecraft as well but I don't do much besides Ark at the moment. I also use Davinci Resolve to edit my videos and post them on YouTube to my channel, The Dimetrodon. Overall, I'm really pround of my PC and I want to thank all the Tech YouTubers out there that helped me make the right decisions!

I began this build at Micro Center, around a year ago actually, and it looked a lot different. It was my first time building a computer and i had so much fun that I started to get all of my friends to also build theirs, and I helped them and now I build computers at least 2-3 times a month. My computer has been in the upgrading process since then though, and I have gone from a 3600 to a 5600x and a 1660 super to a 3070. It is not over though, I plan to soon make a custom loop build as soon as I can scrap up the money for it. My actual setup is getting along pretty well too, though once I move I plan to have my monitors stacked rather than side by side. I am highly inspired by Bitwit with my setup and wish I could make a wall mounted/custom looped pc as well in the future.

I'm building this pc because I was going to buy a ps5 since my ps4 is outdated but since I couldn't get a ps5 I decided to go for a pc since It will have more then 1 use other than gaming but now I can't get a gpu so I'm just stuck turning it on every day just to admire the rgb and turning it right back off. I probably should've bought the gpu first since I've been contemplating this build since like January. Other than that I love it. It has so much more use than a ps5 and I'll probably have it for longer due to the upgradability of all the components. (Images posted are screen shots from a video I took of the build)

Sooo the current market is rough right now so I bought everything and anything whether I needed it or not then returned what I don't use or need. However, it's been 10yrs since my last build Ryzen is all new to me and when I initially walked in to purchase parts I went in with a casual head of "ladadada building a new PC what to get what to get" not knowing it's the 5600x release and everyone is buying everything sooo I went into panic mode of "what do I get uhh excuse me sir. u got any recommendations on what to go for? Or Soo what u grabbing today? Or "wow man today is crazy what build u building?" Obviously to not sound like a noob and I kind of went off that. However, now that I've built, seen everything, and we'll informed here are the things I'd do differently. Ryzen 7 5800x EVGA 3080 360 cappelix 5000D Airflow or lian li lo xl QL FANS Corsair rgb ram Don't get me wrong I'm more than satisfied with my build 1000% speaking if I could go back in time then this is more the route I'd go.

I'd like to thank "Diego M" at the Denver Micro Center who helped me (by complete coincidence) during two different trips a couple of months apart while I was gathering parts for this system. I have named this build "Sign of the Times". When you see the picture and spot the sign, you will understand why! Currently I play a variety of strategy games, such as Endless Space 2, Civilization VI, Rome Total War 2. Also some older first person games such as Tomb Raider. I'd like to play newer first person games as well but that will need to wait (see the previously mentioned sign). Almost all the parts were bought at the Denver Micro Center except for items they simply don't carry.
