This started out as a "minor upgrade" to my gaming machine... ended up as a "build completely new machine and only keep the GPU and data drive". And I only kept the data drive since I replaced it a couple of months ago. Components not listed are the RTX 2080ti GPU, a 500GB NVMe as a boot device and a 2TB NVMe for data. Both Samsungs, but I don't remember the exact models (Evo 980 and 970 something). I output to a TV so I'm limited to 60FPS at 4K, and so far I am getting that with the highest settings on every game I've tried with no DLSS.$1,058.63 -

After a couple of years of having an SFF gaming build, I decided that I want to go back to ATX. This build is a combination of reusing parts from the past along with black friday buys. I play Overwatch, Counter Strike 2, Valheim, Elden Ring, and lately have been playing all of the Kingdom Hearts game at 4k. The 3070 works well at 4k for me. On less demanding games I can fully saturate my 160hz 4k monitor, and at more intensive games I can reach 80fps with some graphics tweaks. I plan to upgrade to the 5800x3d, and in the future plan to upgrade to the next gen gpu's, but my 3070 has been treating me great so far so not really pressured to upgrade my gpu yet.$1,194.96 -

Many components from good Micro Center specials. I was familiar with the Meshify C so used one again, although maybe a more modern case would be better. I am not entirely happy with the default Corsair cables, especially the pigtailed PCIe and also the large capacitor bulge in the ATX cable. So replacements for those may be on the to-do list, or I might depin the pigtailed wires. Otherwise would like some direct cooling on the ram, which might take the form of a few 40mm fans.$1,604.17 -

I built this over the course of 5 months finding parts on sale. Performance-wise, this handles 4K 120Hz on everything I've thrown at it. Only times I scale back quality in games is if the GPU kicks up its coil whine a bit too much. Really stable FPS and benchmarking. Solid machine that should last years at High-Ultra in games. Mixed with 24GB VRAM being a productivity monster. Happy with the end result but I would have done a few things differently. An i7-14700K would have been a nice upgrade, but unnecessary for my use case. A bigger change would be opting for 2x32GB of RAM and/or slightly higher-spec'ed RAM (like 6000 CL30 or 6400 CL32). Aesthetically, I'm really happy with how the silver CPU cooler and tan Noctua fans look through the mesh side panel. If everything was black, you wouldn't notice any components inside and the silver+tan give it a subtle "pop" of character. But, if you're more into RGB than I am than going black on all components will be a nicer look and let your RGB shine.$2,929.90 -

Saw the Fractal Torrent and knew I had to build something with it. I think it came out very nice! I definitely need to get some white PSU cables to match the aesthetic overall. In hindsight, I should have maybe went for the standard Noctua heatsink, as the chrome fins would have matched the chrome from the PowerColor 7900XTX. Still very pleased!$2,029.93 -

It's a gaming rig aimed at 4k 60fps in modern titles, as well as powerful enough (cpu) for emulators. Since I share the room with someone else, I used all noctua fans (excluding the gpu) to minimize noise. I also wanted a natural, minimalist look so I went with a modern looking case from Fractal.$1,973.92 -

CPU runs as 6 core x 2 threads per GPU, which is the best combination for optimizing runtime up to about 1,000,000 atoms in LAMMPS. After playing video games on a laptop, I wanted a computer that would play the latest and greatest titles. After a week of choosing parts, I went with an all-AMD build for the best bang for my buck. Overall, it has a Swedish minimalist vibe. It uses the $450 7700x, 32 GB G.skill RAM, MSI B650 P Wifi Mobo bundle, and Fractal North case.$1,765.91 -
