The 4000 series has been a decent line so far but the original non-super 4070 seemed to be pretty underwhelming, so i decided to wait even though it was at the perfect price point for my budget. finally, the 4070 super is exactly what i've been waiting for. very pleased so far with the performance so far on my 1440 resolution monitor. and at the resolution i don't expect to ever need any more than the 12gb on the 4070 super.$1,629.92 -

Instead of spending around $1000 on a new laptop, I thought I would build a PC for around the same price instead. Right now, I only have a couple games installed, which are Prey and Need for Speed Unbound. Prey is a well optimized game, but it runs on dx11, and arc was known for having issues with non dx12 titles when it came out. I know Intel has gone back and improved drivers for certain dx11 games, but when playing Prey at max settings at 2560x1440p, there would be times where my framerate would drop from 144 fps to around 70 fps. The GPU usage would drop to around 30% To solve this, I ended up using dxvk to make the game run on vulkan. Now it stays at 144 fps all the time, with some shader compilation stutters. Using dxvk in dx11 and dx9 titles to make the game run in vulkan has a good chance of boosting performance with arc cards. To use dxvk, you just need to paste at most two folders into the game's exe directory. There are videos on YouTube that show how to do this. The only downside is that you can't do this in online games that use anti cheat. With need for speed, the game ran well out of the box. Playing at 1440p, I get around 70-85fps at max settings with xess quality. If I disable upscaling, I can reach the same framerate with textures at ultra and the rest of the settings set to a mix of mostly high and some medium. After setting a gpu fan curve, the hottest I've seen the GPU get is 64 Celsius, with vram hovering around 62 Celsius in a superposition benchmark. In terms of the ryzen 7700x, I was able to set a pbo curve of -35 on all cores, and I didn't crash after running prime95 for 20 minutes. I'll have to run core cycler and see if it is truly stable, although I haven't crashed in any games yet. Because of this, it runs extremely cool. At most, I've seen it hit 55 Celsius and pull 75w when gaming. In the prime95 benchmark, it pulled somewhere around 120ish watts and hit a max temp of somewhere around 86 Celsius. According to hwmonitor, the hotspot was also around that same temperature.$964.99 -

Recently, my old system with an Intel i7-4790k and a GTX 1070ti broke down. I tried for 2 days but could not get it to boot pass window start up loading screen. It's because of that and how outdated it is of a system, I decided to upgrade to a new system. I mostly just doing some lite web browsing as well as doing spreadsheet and video calling. I used to game but since my PC couldn't keep up with the new games as well as life gotten busier I stopped gaming. However, with this new machine of a beast. Every game that I tested now can do well above 100fps with games that goes to the 200fps. So hopefully I can dive back into gaming soon. I went with and Ryzen 7 5800x and ROG Strix B550 motherboard as well as an Radeon RX 7800 XT with the NZXT H6 Flow housing. I know this doesn't have much of an upgrade ability beside from going to the 5800x3d and possibly better GPU however because I want an all-white esthetic and AM4 is the cheapest to go for it.$1,499.92 -

My previous machine which was a gaming laptop used a 7th gen intel i5 and a 1050. With my new pc build it can chew through all of the tasks i can throw at it. I basically just wanted to take a crack and building another desktop and, during the process, by doing a few things I haven't done before. One of these new things was building on an AM5 socket. I mainly held off this long from trying AM5 due to initially high DDR5 prices, but those have thankfully already fallen a long way. Another thing I really wanted to try is the new North chassis by my favorite case manufacturer, Fractal Design. I'm pretty brand-loyal to Fractal ever since the Meshify came out several years ago. Anyway the North case does a really nice thing in two different ways. One, it matches the wooden furniture I have elsewhere in my living room. And two, the North case is ventilated is so many different ways, it really opens up near-limitless possibilities for fan customization and airflow optimization.$2,656.92 -

I wanted to make the switch from console so I can play PC only games like Ready or NOT. Being a responsible adult, I had a $500 total budget and I bought the parts at the perfect time and walked out with $3 in my pocket. YUP including taxes I managed this build to be under $500. Gaming with the integrated graphics worked ok with COD: Warzone and Overwatch2 but pretty hard to play with others like Six Days in Fallujah since low settings made somethings hard to see. I managed and even started recording games for my Youtube channel. After a month and few weeks, a friend was selling his RTX 4060 so I picked it up at a steal. I picked up a ID Cooling Frostflow AIO same day . This build is perfect for beginners on $500 budget (not counting the GPU and AIO) Pics are without and with GPU and AIO installed$692.93 -

I built this PC for gaming after going about 10 years since the last gaming PC build.
