During the COVID lockdowns, my three girls and I were playing a lot of video games to pass the time. I wanted to build a PC that could play any game, make videos if I/or my kids wanted to and stream while playing without an issue. This process took over a year to get to where it is below. I would check every other day on websites like Amazon and Microcenter for deals, open box items, and even joined discord channels to follow in stock alerts. I made this a family project and worked with my two oldest daughters 13 and 8 on what each part does, how to put it together, etc. They seemed interested and helped me seat the ram, manage cables, unbox the cool parts, but are much more interested when they can play their favorite games with their friends. It is definitely a show piece and they are proud of the PC they helped build when there friends come over. It doesn't have the top of the line components, but each component was selected to get the best performance for price I could afford. I hope my girls remember these fun times working with their dad building a computer. and pass that on to their kids some day. I am not the best gamer, I am not a streamer. I enjoy Elden Ring, even though I am not good at it. I also enjoy chill RTS games like Civilization 6, Frost Punk and Planet Coaster, I am much better at those. I have a full time job, I am a full time single parent to three girls, so finding time to game on my own, is difficult. However, I did not build this computer, just for myself, I built it with my kids because it makes me smile when I hear my 8 year old talking trash and laughing with her friends. I am amazed how talented my 13 year old is with editing her videos she captures with her iPhone and shared them with her friends on discord. I plan to upgrade to a 1GB NVME this next year. I have upgraded the case, motherboard and CPU along the way. Once I get a new SSD, I am only a GPU and power supply away from a second gaming PC project with the girls. This would be really cool for their friends to come over and have two gaming pcs they can take turns with to battle each other and make memories. I got all these parts from Micro Center except the Vetroo V5, power supply and case fans.$1,524.13 -

This build was meant for my brother who doesn't play alot of games though does occasionally. It is an assortment of previous gen parts I had lying around and bought. This PC plays games like company of heroes 2, Wasteland 3, Aliens Fireteam Elite and whether I like it or not, alot of Facebook browsing. Upgrades include a newer cpu (ryzen 5000) and a faster GPU. You can upgrade the motherboard and get onto a new platform with am5 or intel but this requires replacing the cpu, mobo AND possibly ram depending. Though u can put the fastest ryzen 5000 cpu in this build as the tomahawk motherboard has a VERY beefy VRM and supports it with a bios update!$1,109.99
