My profession is computer technician, I have been working in the field for 10 years. And since 5 years ago I didn't have a computer because my old laptop died. I originally built this computer back in 2017 with a 4690k and a 960, over the years it has had many upgrades, a 1060 to a 1080ti to a 3080 10gb FHR, the CPU went from the 4690k to a 8600k to now a 12600k. I am planning on putting a 12700k in the computer. The computer has been through a lot and has survived many case changes and drops.$2,490.90 -

The reason for building my pc was to be able to learn on the hardware side of computers in addition to building a solid rig for a variety of purposes while not breaking the bank but on the other hand be able to handle some relatively intensive games and be quick enough for general use. Games I play are relatively dated but I still enjoy starcraft and csgo. I’m currently pursuing a compsci degree and use this rig to complete assignments and code. Future upgrades include a much stronger graphics card possibly the gtx 2070 and amd ryzen 5900-5950x and increase ram to 32gb. The one aspect of the build I’d do differently is not skimping on the GPU ram size.$1,069.96 -

I heavily overpaid for some of these parts since I bought them at the height of the chip shortage and I desperately needed them to finish some projects which my old PC was not able to handle. This PC is now able to render all projects that I've thrown at it so far. Massive step up from my old i7-4770 and 1070 build. Also this thing easily runs every game I've thrown at it at the highest quality at 1440p resolution. === While planning out the build, I was not intending on adding any RGB stuff, but all of the RGB parts I bought were either cheaper or at an equivalent price compared to non RGB stuff. Wiring and cable management was definitely a nightmare to do. There are a total of 7 RGB fans (3 from the cooler and 4 from the case) which each have a fan connector and RGB connector. There is also a RGB connector for the case LEDS and another RGB connector for the CPU pump block. I connected all the RGB connectors from the fans, case, and pump block into 1 header on the motherboard so I can easily control the lighting of the whole system. This lets me easily sync the colors with all components without having to adjust them each individually. I use an app called SignalRGB to control all my RGB components (including peripherals like keyboards and mice) so everything in my build can synced together. If you don't want to deal with all the cables and wiring, I suggest that you don't go the RGB route or at least don't get too many RGB stuff. === I also used the subreddit r/buildapcsales to find sales on majority of the parts. If you are planning on buying stuff overtime rather than buying everything all together, I recommend snooping around there every day to see if there are any deals on stuff. There are a few parts that are not listed on the build, such as the white PSU extension cables and a couple fan splitters. Those can be bought from Amazon or elsewhere.$3,692.94 -
