I can enjoy 1440p gaming with Ray Tracing and DLSS from this 12GB Asus Geforce RTX 3060. Motherboard supports 11th gen Intel but I put this 10th gen Intel Core i3 in to keep the cost of the system down. It will do the job. I am mostly paying for the graphics card anyway. This setup will me to upgrade the CPU in the future if I choose.

I ultimately wanted to upgrade from the PC I already had- an i7 6700k with a GTX 1660 and 16 GB of RAM. The only real way for me to do so was to start from the ground up, so I started looking for CPUs to upgrade to. I watch a lot of Dawid Does Tech Stuff, LinusTechTips, Austin Evans, PC Centric, and Gaming Nexus on YouTube in order to get some good recommendations, while I also peruse reddit.com/r/buildapc for advice. I'm primarily using this build for gaming (at 1080p) and streaming to YouTube. I play games like Apex Legends, Halo Infinite, Call of Duty alongside Cities Skylines, Endless Space 2, and Stellaris. I'm hoping this build will be a solid one for about 5 years, or whenever DDR5 memory is more integrated. Since I needed to start the upgrade from the CPU, I was debating on whether to upgrade to a Ryzen 5 5600x (or 5600G depending on availability) or the 11th gen i5. I know a lot of intel motherboards can be a bit more expensive than their AMD equivalents, however I was able to find a nice Black Friday deal at MicroCenter for an i5 11600k and an Asus Prime B560M-A for a bit under $300. With my motherboard and cpu chosen I could then focus on getting other parts. My motherboard supports both 10th gen and 11th gen intel CPUs, however with an 11th gen CPU I could use both 4th gen PCIE and 4th gen m.2 NVME storage. As such I went for a 2TB Corsair MP600 core SSD to take that slot up and act as my boot drive and storage with room to upgrade my storage space with the other m.2 slot. I wanted to upgrade my GPU from the GTX 1660 to a 30 series card, and I was able to find an EVGA 3060 at microcenter a couple weeks later. Because I play a lot of strategy games, I went with a 2x16 kit of Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro RAM at 3600MHz. For a PSU, I went with the EVGA Supernova 750W 80plus Gold Rated modular power supply. I picked up an NZXT H510 Black and Red case, and through some reviews I knew I didn't need intake fans because of some sciency mumbo jumbo that was explained very well in Dawid's video on the H500 case and airflow. I didn't want to go with an AIO as such, though I still wanted to have some decent cooling for my CPU so I went with the Noctua NH-U12S. While gaming, my GPU gets up to 65 degrees (!) while my CPU gets to 50 degrees. When I'm just web browsing It's usually 35 degrees and 29/ 30 respectfully. This was my first ever full build and it feels amazing to be able to use something I assembled myself.
