  This is my first time building a PC, so my cable management is kinda bad. I am going to fix it up when I upgrade my... This is my first time building a PC, so my cable management is kinda bad. I am going to fix it up when I upgrade my heatsink. It's currently on stock heatsink that came with the CPU. When I play games, the CPU core temperature is around 55C. It's not a huge problem, but I will definitely upgrade before summer hits. I am using this PC primary for gaming. I have played Wild heart and Apex on this PC. It's running very smoothly even at ultra graphical setting. No lag or drag. Overall, I am very happy with this setup.

  i have a friend whotold me they were considering buying one of those "mini pc" desktops. basically one of those small... i have a friend whotold me they were considering buying one of those "mini pc" desktops. basically one of those small footprint units that are desktops housing low power and low heat laptop components. after a little back and forth, i finally conviced her that i could assemble her a desktop with much better performance for the same amount of money. she eventually agreed because a desktop pc, while larger than what she was looking at originally, isn't something she was needing to travel with either. her usage is a little mix of everything, including light gaming like cooking simulator.

  I built this system with the goal of assembling a very budget-conscious machine that could still provide adequate... I built this system with the goal of assembling a very budget-conscious machine that could still provide adequate performance for gaming at light to medium settings. It will be used mainly at 1080p and sometimes I might hook it up to a 1440p monitor to see how it manages. Microcenter was definitely a solid option for me to get the cpu, motherboard (combo discount) and gpu all at prices a little below what they go for on the major online retailers. One thing I might have done wrong was intially trying out an open-box graphics card. I had problems with that one displaying video even on initial motherboard post. So looking back on the process, I should have saved time and just bought the new graphics card I ended up exchanging for.

  It was a sad day when I recently realized that the am4 socket, one into which I've heavily invested, is now officially... It was a sad day when I recently realized that the am4 socket, one into which I've heavily invested, is now officially obsolete and will see no more released cpu's that are compatible with the socket. Instead of abandoning my am4 setup that has served me well for many years, I decided to buy the processor that represented the single best upgrade available on the am4 socket, which is the 5900x3d. It pairs with my rtx 3080 nicely so far. One thing i might have done differently is a minor compatibility ive found between my motherboard and this particular rtx 3080. Specifically, the size of the graphics card obscures access to some of the sata ports on the motherboard. It's not a huge deal though and I've managed to work around it.

  i have a family member who needed me to upgrade him to a semi-modern system, even though he had some real, hardline... i have a family member who needed me to upgrade him to a semi-modern system, even though he had some real, hardline limitations on the total amount he could spend. this is the result. i am thankful that at this point in 2023, the prices on graphics cards have come down to the point where a decent mid-range card (rtx 3060 ti) can still be acquired without greatly exceeding a budget. throughout the process, he kepts telling me that he didn't care how it looked and that "ugly is fine!" personally if it were my build i would have done that differently with more attention to aesthetics. but he's really happy with it!
