APC listened to what customers wanted for features in a surge protector when they designed the SurgeStation. The SurgeStation Professional Series 8 T2 has an interesting but functional design. This floormount model has a right-angle plug to save space. In response to user requests, APC made room for three transformer block outlets that don't block remaining outlets. Up to six transformers can be plugged in at once if blocking other outlets is not a concern. There are a total of eight outlets on the SurgeStation; two of them are always on for charging devices or other equipment that requires constant power. All of the outlets receive conditioned 120VAC power. A 15-amp circuit breaker and instant surge clamping response time provide protection against spikes and surges up to 320 Joules. Let-through voltage is less than 85v, low enough to earn UL's best 1449 330V let-through rating across all three lines. The T2 model provides two-line (4-wire) surge protection for telephone lines to guard fax machines, modems, answering machines and other devices that use RJ-11/RJ-45 telephone connectors. The master on/off switch is located at the front of the SurgeStation and is recessed to prevent accidental shut-off. A wiring fault indicator is activated as soon as the unit is plugged in, to warn of problems before devices are powered up.
