Coming soon to a Micro Center near you — the new Panasonic Lumix G1 compact digital camera. It uses next-generation technology by taking the traditional SLR design totally digital. Panasonic has introduced a new "Micro Four Thirds System" standard that replaces the old mirror / prism optical viewfinder for a 1.44Million dpi live viewfinder. The new design also reduces the overall size and weight by half compared to other SLR cameras. In addition, the Lumix G1 has iA or Intelligent Auto feature which offers a range of auto detection from light to motion to scene. If you aren't awed by this camera yet, check out the swivel LCD preview screen which moves up to 180° horizontally and 270° vertically for that perfect shot from almost any angle. You can get this piece of digital goodness for around $799 retail. While you are out shopping for the geeks on your list, stop by the Digital Imaging department at Micro Center to check it out.
