ASUS Eee PC
by rob

Eee PCThe Eee PC line from ASUS packs basic computer needs into a compact, rugged 2lb package. The Intel® mobile processor is built for low power consumption and a 7" 800x480 display is flanked by a pair of stereo speakers.

Built-in WiFi 802.11b/g keeps you connected to the Internet wherever there's a hotspot.

The Eee PC has a solid-state drive for storage which uses less power and has no moving parts, which means you don't have to worry about loosing your data to bumps and shocks. The built-in 2-in-1 memory card reader makes the Eee PC ideal for digital photographers who need to process, store and send their work while in the field.

You get a powerful selection of software including OpenOffice.org, a full-featured office suite (see this month's review of OpenOffice.org), email, web browser, IM, eBook reader and more. All of this runs on top of a Linux OS that boots very quickly. If you prefer Windows XP, you can always install it instead.

The Eee PC is perfect for young students, mobile photographers and others that need a rugged and ultra-portable sub-notebook.
