Using the System Configuration Utility, you can disable unused services or applets to increase your system's speed. To access the Configuration Utility, go to Start -> Run or press the Windows Key + R. Type MSCONFIG in the dialog box and click OK. Select the Startup tab from the Utility window. Uncheck any Startup Item that is not being used and click OK. Restart your system to activate the new Startup Item list.
