Mac OS X Startup Items
Startup items are any programs that are run by a computer at startup. These could be applications or drivers needed by the computer to run. Each user can also select frequently used programs to start or documents to open each time you log on.
In Windows XP, drop any program or shortcut into your Startup folder (C:/Documents and Settings/<your user folder>/Start Menu/Programs/Startup).
In Mac OS X 10.2.8 or earlier, you manage startup items from System Preferences > Login Items. Click the Add button, then browse to the correct program or simply drop an application into the list.
In OS X 10.3 or later, choose System Preferences > Accounts, then select the Startup Items tab. Click the [+] button to browse to the correct program or simply drop an application into the list.
