Ad-hoc
A
simple peer-to-peer network between two or more computers using
only wireless adapters. This eliminates the cost of a router or
access point. This style of network can allow for file sharing,
networked gaming and is suggested only for small networks. Without
a router, there is no simple way to share an Internet connection.
Infrastructure
The
most common type of wireless network, an infrastructure network
that has multiple clients connected to a central wireless router
or access point. Broadband routers can share an Internet connection
between 255 client computers as well as share resources among each
computer.
