Here
are some things you can do to get your notebook to run longer when
you're away from your desk:
- Add RAM
- Use Windows' built-in power management.
- Lower
the brightness setting on the screen backlight
- Disable Auto Insert Notification on the CD-ROM
- Disable auto save and spellcheckers
- Use the Suspend feature when taking a break
- Remove any unused USB devices or PC Cards
- Turn off wireless connections when not in use
- Completely drain and recharge your battery every few months
- Keep
the number of programs you run at the same time to a minimum
- Minimize graphics-heavy games and DVD viewing
