Questions and Answers
Microsoft Windows® 7 Professional
With enhanced productivity features to streamline routine tasks, it also simplifies network connections and has several security protections including automatic system and network backups. Entertainment has never been cooler than with Windows Media Center. You can watch, pause, and record live programs, enjoy a variety of online entertainment, or take a break with your best music. Windows 7 also supports DirectX 11. Gamers will love its smoother 3D animation and realistic graphics.
1TB Hard Drive
A terabyte equals one trillion bytes. To put that in perspective, that's room enough for about 250,000 MP3 files, or according to Ron White, in his book, "How Computers Work", 20,000 four-drawer filing cabinets filled with text. In addition, this hard drive operates at a variable RPM which means you've got the best of both worlds, full speed for demanding loads and energy conservation during minimal access.
Intel HD Graphics 4000
Make the most of your 3D gaming experiences with Intel HD Graphics 4000 with Microsoft® DirectX support. Shared processor and graphics cache enables faster graphics processing and incredibly realistic on-screen action for casual and mainstream gaming.
In addition to responsive 3D image rendering and stunning visuals, Intel HD Graphics 4000 is a model of energy efficient performance. With its media processing and graphics engine integrated right on the processor, its twice as fast as its second generation predecessors.
Intel® Quick Sync Video
Built into every 2nd generation Intel Core™ processor, Quick Sync Video enables users to quickly create, edit, synchronize, and share video files from home or make them available online without the need for extra hardware. In addition, media conversion between devices takes just minutes thanks to hardware acceleration streamlining this process at incredible speed. That includes creating DVDs, Blu-ray™ discs, or editing and converting HD videos for portable media devices or uploading to your favorite social media sites.
Intel InTrue™ 3D Technology
The perfect way to watch 3D movies. InTrue 3D technology delivers 1080p, hi-def resolution 3D action to your TV using HDMI 1.4. With Blu-Ray® Stereo 3D playback using active shutter 3D glasses, you may not believe your eyes when it comes to 3D realism!
Break out the popcorn and let your PC become a portal of HD entertainment. With Intel Insider, you can visit any participating Internet movie site, choose to buy or rent your favorite film, then sit back and enjoy the show. On the go it's a great way to enjoy some down time. At home, you can wirelessly send your movie to your awesome big-screen TV.
Intel Clear Video HD Technology
Enjoy better than ever visual quality and color fidelity enhancements and exceptionally vivid HD and Blu-ray™ playback. Built into every 2nd generation Intel Core™ processor, Clear Video Technology takes color accuracy to a whole new level bringing every image to life whether you're surfing the Net, catching an HD movie, or enjoying your own videos.
By using a combination of hardware and software technologies, Intel has enabled enhanced high-quality, 108p high-def image rendering in a variety of media including Blu-ray and streaming web content.
Intel Hyper-Threading Technology
Intel's hyper-threading technology means you'll get peak performance for your multithreaded applications thanks to higher processing throughput. To put it simply, each core of the processor is capable of working on multiple tasks at the same time.
Intel Virtualization Technology
Consolidates multiple environments into a single server or PC. It provides greater user flexibility that can help reduce costs, improve security, and increase resiliency regarding contingency planning.
Take advantage of 64-bit computing when using 64-bit compatible software. This architecture enables systems to access more than 4GB of virtual and physical memory. Also known as EM64T, it is fully compatible with 32-bit operating systems giving you the flexibility to upgrade to a 64-bit OS when ever you're ready. Intel's 64 architecture works on servers, workstations, desktops, and mobile platforms.
Intel Anti-Theft Technology
Wouldn't it be great if your computer could disable itself if it were ever lost or stolen? Thanks to Intel anti-theft technology, it can! Anti-Theft technology works by detecting suspicious activity, like repeated unsuccessful log-ins. Once activated, anti-theft's tamper-resistant protection puts your computer into theft mode without harming your data to keep your information secure should your system fall into the the wrong hands. According to Intel, your system will be protected, "even if the OS is reimaged, the boot order is changed, a new hard-drive is installed, or the laptop is disconnected from the network." Once recovered, you can easily reactivate your system.
Intel My WiFi
Intel My WiFi is an easy way to wirelessly share content. The My WiFi user interface serves as a means of connecting your computer directly with up to eight WiFi devices anywhere and lets you stay connected to the Internet at the same time. It's never been easier to sync your devices, send or receive content, or print all via a wireless connection.
Intel 4G WiMAX
Intended to provide high-speed mobile Internet access to the widest spectrum of mobile devices, including laptops, 4G WiMAX is the fourth generation of wireless technology. Built for the future, Intel is working to integrate this technology into global networks to give you easy wireless access where ever you need it without being restricted to available hot spots. And, it's ultra fast, up to four times faster than 3G technology.
Enhanced Intel SpeedStep® Technology
Now get even more performance enhancing, energy conserving benefits from Intel. With SpeedStep technology, your processor simultaneously switches voltage and frequency to high or low levels depending on processor load. Enhanced SpeedStep technology performs voltage and frequency changes separately so the system performs better with reduced latency due to system unavailability.
Thermal Monitoring Technologies
This feature is designed to protect the processor in the event of unusual circumstances such as cooling fan failure which can cause damage if internal chassis temperatures become higher than normal. It works by reducing the processor's power consumption if the programmed thermal temperature is exceeded.
The processor contains a thermal diode which measures the actual CPU temperature and relays its temperature and thermal requirements to the motherboard. The motherboard uses those requirements to control the processor fan and ensure it does not spin faster than necessary - even under worst case power use.
Intel Fast Memory Access
Intel updated its integrated memory controller hub technology to optimize available memory bandwidth and reduce latency associated with memory access, thereby improving system performance.
Intel Flex Memory Access
This Intel technology makes upgrading easier by "allowing different memory sizes to be populated and remain in dual-channel mode," according to Intel.
Execute Disable Bit
Reduces your system's exposure to viruses and mal-ware attacks, and the chances of self-executing and propagating software from taking down your system or network. That can save you costly repairs, lost productivity, and revenue.
Extended Page Tables
Boosting memory for demanding virtualizaiton applications, this hardware optimization, also known as Second Level Address Translation (SLAT), helps reduce power consumption and its associated costs while also aiding battery life.
10/100/1000 Gigabit Network
Just when you thought life couldn't go any faster, technology changed the rules. Using more bandwidth and full-duplex capacity, the 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet will have you connecting with the Internet or your other devices faster than you can say gigabit.
Also known as Bluetooth Smart Ready, it takes wireless communication to a whole new level. First, it's compatible with a large number of devices like tablets, smart phones, and of course computers, but it's also compatible with TV remotes, and even appliances. All of these things will be controlled using apps, so the ability to turn on the lights or your oven before you get home will be as easy as picking up your cellphone. In addition, it uses considerably less power than before.
