The combination of proven Seagate perpendicular recording technology, Native Command Queuing (NCQ), Seagate laptop power management and the speed of a SATA 3Gb/s interface delivers the optimum mix of performance and energy efficiency. Perpendicular recording technology - increases performance and reliability by aligning the data bits vertically on the disk. NCQ dramatically increases performance by organizing incoming commands in the most efficient order. For the optimum in mobility, the Momentus 5400 hard drives leverage Seagates laptop power management technology and ramp load features which remove the head from the disk during idle periods; idle power consumption is improved and the durability of the drive improves as well. Plus, to keep noise levels to a minimum, QuietStep ramp load technology delivers ultra-quiet load/unload acoustics. The high performance Momentus 7200 closes the gap between desktop and laptop computers with 7200 RPM spindle speed and large 16MB cache to deliver a sustained transfer speed of 76MB/s.
